The text is rather making the Germans as bad guys but remember that the Russians mobilized first which is tantamount to a declaration of war.

@wanker4761 Bullshit. That's like saying locking my front door is a direct threat to a burglar, which justifies his breaking end entering. Mobilization is preparation. Period. Until the first boot crosses the boarder, it is mobilization is NOT tantamount to a declaration of war.

@penumbra155 If you don't understand that if your enemies who are on both sides of you are winding their armies up, that you must attack, then you do not see obvious things that most people see. Mobilization is a state of readiness that cannot be maintained for a period more than a few days or weeks at very most. If the Krauts had only "mobilized" as well, no one could stand down without the other guy winning. I'm Canadian and no apologist for the Krauts but one must read data objectively.
