Saw this on WDCA in Washington, DC back in the early 80's when I was in elementary school. I used this show as my "5-minute warning" before leaving the house. They would show a single episode at 8:30 in the morning, by 8:35 the episode ended, and I would embark on my 25 minute walk to school. Always got there on time because of this show.
didn't know they made an abbott and costello cartoon...o.o but RPO is right. these days it's all about "eye candy." Simpsons is a prime example. Sure it looks splendid now, compared to 20 years ago, but the humor is gone. now their idea of an episode, is killing off a main character, only to replace him with an exact copy of him and pretend the whole thing never happened in the first place. many consider this to be a slap in the face.
In the name of God the Merciful Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings be upon you I bear witness that no God but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah Please enter on this site islamhouse islam-guide rasoulallah quran-m islamway tanzil Thank you
If I do say so myself, this is a very astonishing cartoon. I look everywhere on the internet and came up empty-handed, then I stumbled onto this amazing video, and I was wondering if anyone of you, yes you who are reading this now, if anyone of you know where I can watch many more uncut videos? and i mean from episode 1 + ALL.
I Seen This On CTEN And WTBS In The 1970's And Early 1980's In 1980 After I Graduating Eighth Grade. I Was Entering Ninth Grade At Beginning Of The 1980-81 School Year.
This is from an era when cartoons were cortoons, not the cgi shit they have today. The big orchestra music is incredible too. Tell me, do you have the original 16mm film of this? I ask because of the count down in the beginning :)
@RedPortiaOne This was from my 16mm print that I have since sold. I have the complete 25 minute show transferred though. There are 4 complete A & C cartoons and bumpers with animated A & C doing little bits.
@2reelers Wow you have 4 complete Abbot and Costello cartoons from that reel? It would be really incredible if you could please upload these cuz Im a really big fan of this cartoon and I know there are many more who'd love tosee this too. And the fact that you made it from a 16mm print makes it that much more cool. Please let me know :)

And very DIFFERENTY written, whether CGI or cartoons otherwise, fun stuff like this disappeared around early 70s and evne DIsney got that 'tude stuff going, even when they were not doing CGU,
What the F?! Only four animators worked on this show?! Granted, those are some talented animators (particularly Muse and Vinci) but, c'mon, there were far fewer animators who worked on this show than there were layout men!
I wish I could see more of this show. I've only seen a few cartoons of the series (some were in Spanish instead of English) and I'm curious to see more. Some were far better than others but what the hey....
@ClassicTVMan81 heh, if you find it, please let me know too. Remeber the theme well and was royally miffed when it was left off the DVD set. No excuse for that.
if i'm not mistaken, the money that Bud Abbott made from voicing these cartoons were his primary source of income in his later years, when for the most part, he was too ill to perform otherwise....great post.....thanks!!
Yep, I remember the animated shorts when WTCG (now TBS) went to cable back in 1980, I think, and they used to air these in-between their feature films. Just wish they'd put them out on DVD, however I'm glad 2reelers and other YouTubers have been posting them here now.
I never saw that part of the title credits..with the animated Bud Abbott, where he uses a flute to manipulate a snake and turn it into a helpful camel. While The animated Lou Costello..cleans up after the beast.
@143AC - It's just the opposite for me. I remember the whole Flute segment quite well. was 6 when we got cable and watched throw snowey reception(primitive early cable days) to see this. It's really the theme music that stuck with me. I've been bugging on the internet for somebody to post the full version. Thankfully 2reelers had private film copy to share. Again, Thanks 2reelers!
We Peruvians have been lucky to watch these cartoons with the complete openings and closings. It's been aired through a public channel in the 80s. These have been very funny although underrated HB cartoons. Thanks!
I notice that the sharp end stings at the end of the shorter open aren't there [when the "A Hanna-Barbera production" sign appears"]. They really did a little rescoring for the end of that title.
When we first got cable, I was about 6/7 years old in 1972. A station out of Kingston, Ontario was running this show, but the singnal was so weak, you could hardly see it(early days of cable), but I remember watching it through the static anyway - and this was the theme-full length. Now if I could only find those animated "Keep your health" anti-smoking ads from the late 60's early 70's that aired extensively in the Ottawa area(They were a hoot), Life would be complete.

Bud Abbott was out of work & out of money when he decided to do this cartoon. He spent all his earned money on booze and died drunk & broke.

i meant I"I. not "U".I'm still wondering if ANY "Laurel and Hardy" or "Sinbad Jr." crtedits exist from the Hanna-Barbera studio's versions of them.
SteveCarras 1 year ago
@SteveCarras This is certainly true! it could be the PC movement made cartoons change up. Not everyone wants any anime-like cartoons but fun stuff
