One of the MDs says, "It feels great to me as a mom to sort of validate moms everywhere that they didn't cause their child to behave this way, that their child was already this way at birth." This is only partially true. See pp. 108-109 of Redirect by Timothy Wilson. Helping mothers to think of alternate reasons for their child's fussy behavior led to less child abuse. Some mothers (and no doubt fathers) blamed children for their fussiness and attributed it to things that could not be fixed.
