  • rick was a hell of a bassist and a pioneer though most don't give him the credit for it he influenced a lot of grunge and alternative bassists

  • One person I hope hit the dislike button on accident. How could you not love this classic funk jam! Keep the FUNK alive.

  • this is what u play when u hit that good liq or bust that check ya feal?

  • damn thats good

  • devin did justice 2 diz song rick would b proud no doubt shit just so laid back damnnnnnnnnn

  • I too use to own COME GET IT album on cassette back in the day and never played this tune at first but one day I let the tape play all the way through and heard this track and was like "wow" I never knew he had it in him to do such a great ballad and this now one of my favorite RJ tracks.

  • bow wow sampled this song in "outta my system" LOVE IT :)

  • @crazycurlycutie ... three 6 mafia did it first ... "da summer"

  • @NI66ABOUTCASH not really....if it wuznt for rick comin up wit dis shit here neitha 1 of em wouldahad the idea to sample dis shit......i wnt lie devin boosted it but thers nuthin betta then this

  • Iha sama.

  • If I saw Devin or "Da Dude" whatever name he goes by I'd probably slap the sh!t outta him for F'n up MY jam.... You can literally see/feel the theme in this. I put my sons up on this song back in the early 90's to listen too when they felt things not going as planned for themselves. Let'n you know you can make it good even if you have to get away to do so, just keep it moving and it won't be long...it won't be long and it won't be long til you get there.

  • Kirko Bangz!

  • Devin, Nore, Bow Wow, Three Six Mafia...NONE of these niggas can FUCK with the original masterpiece

  • Cocaine's a hell of a drug

  • I LOVE RICK JAMES, KING OF PUNK FUNK 4EVER, NOBODY DOES IT BETTER!

  • i have no dislike huh?!?! i must be a great song XD

  • who the hell is devin

  • @SuperEastbound Devin The Dude

  • @SuperEastbound SECOND THAT, WHO IS DEVIN?

  • @summerbabetoo

devin the dude, the smoothest singer/rapper in history with huge talent and love for weed

  • @215og Really, anyone who writes lyrics to someone elses music is not talented to me. The word talent is spread really thin these days. Back in the day an artist wrote, played and produced a song using real instruments and not a dj. However that is my opinion.

  • love yhx

  • Who was the king of punk funk? Rick james or Prince? I mean when Dirty mind came out Prince could have taken that title from rick james. I played this song soo much I wore out the cd. Use to sing this in my apartment.

  • Viva Rick James the Ultimate King of Punk Funk - Rest in Peace Slick Rick - O'Skool to da' end - cuz thats how we do... God Bless Rick James and Lady Teena Marie... Thee Ivory Queen of Soul - Get it Rick and Tee...

  • @bjoaquinesq That's right baby!!!!!!

  • You know I've been dreamin'....I've been lookin' to the stars for light, I've been thinkin aobut it, you know, I've been thinkin' about all my life, I've been hoping, hoping, one day I will go to Hollywood, where the singers and movie stars and people live on mountains..........CAN YOU FEEL THAT SHIT?

  • the brothers johnson are way better

  • yelawolfs is the best nigg

  • my bag....rick was the king of punk funk.....i remember when he came out with "mary jane" in 1978..

  • Rick James(RIP) is the king of punk rock...Show this brotha some respect...whats all this crap im reading about a sample is better than the original? Most of the todays music is garbage...Get a sample and throw a garbage azz beat with it. its cool that you kids know rick james because of dave chappelle or the superfreak sample(MCHammer). Theres alot of music that Rick left us to listen to...My two favorite Rick James albums are street songs (1981) and throwin down(1982).

  • yelawolf killed this sample but the original is a classic R.I.P. Rick James

  • man why did they take off the live version? even thoe it was lipsync it was still a great performance rip rick james johnson

  • yelawolfs is better

  • Bitch ass fools took the live video off talkn bout some historic archive copyright shit.

  • Yelawolf Love is not enough is better than the 6mafia or Devins song

  • @INTpdr you're obviously smokin rocks

  • Yelawolf sampled this for "Love Is Not Enough"

  • They took the live version off, but got it before they did. If you get a chance it's mind-blowing. The talent this man had was not of this earth. Dream Maker and Spacey Love are right there with this song. Thank you Rick, you'll always be in a class by yourself.

  • @gumpdog36 I was looking for the live version. Wow I wonder why they took if off?

  • @TheBookie08 some copyright bs, i had it saved went to play it and it was gone.

  • Have sex with charlie murphy! Im rick james bitch

  • ridin thru the hood with my homies gettin smoked out in da summa

  • Can't stop listening to this song

  • one of my favorite songs of 1978.

  • This is music :)

  • Sorry for all the profanity...I haven't taken my meds today...

  • I hate comments from people saying shit like "DEVIN'S IS BETTER" or "3 6 MAFIA IS BETTER" Those lame ass, no talent mother fuckers couldn't come up with a song like this on their own so don't tell me their version is better. So many of today's acts make their fucking living off of covers or samples from old school masters like Rick James ...they ain't got SHIT without these older jams. So before you open your ignorant fucking mouth think about where the REAL inspiration came from!!

  • @deejayroyalt1 Amen!!!! There's an old saying from back in the day.... Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. It's easy to make a hit by copying someone else's hit, say it's yours, and hope no one notices. The Old School is alive and well.

  • @peady64 PREACH!!!!

  • @deejayroyalt1 Preach! Thank you and I agree with you 100%. I love my old school and hate to see folks not giving credit where it's due, especially for a lot of this bullsh*t music that people bring out nowadays. I miss the music of the past.

  • @deejayroyalt1 brother, I couldn't agree with you more......most of these artists today couldn't buy a clue of what real music is. half of them can't even sing....their vocal are "manufactured" in the studio...they can thank auto tune for their careers! and as far as playing instruments, their music is manufactured on their pc.....like i said before, i couldn't agree with you more!

  • @deejayroyalt1 i see ur point but disagree with the devin part lol

  • @deejayroyalt1 Regardless of who came first, people are entitled to think someone else's version is better. It is not "ignorant" to like one song over the other and make a comment saying so. I agree that it may be a little stupid to comment such a thing on a video of the original just because it's bound to start an argument, but he's still entitled to that opinion and can "open his ignorant fucking mouth" and let people know what he thinks.

  • @deejayroyalt1 I hate people who rant on about other peoples opinions. You are just as much of a troll as they are. If you took half a fucking second to listen to devin the dudes version its nothing short of a fucking masterpiece, it is very deep to say the least. Quit being an ignorant cunt.

  • @charlee420 I love when people say they "hate people who rant on about other peoples opinions", then proceed to rant on about another persons opinion.

  • @deejayroyalt1 yeah, don't acknowledge the whole point of that post or anything. Just pretend like it never happened, isn't that what you did when your daddy touched you?

  • @charlee420 You talk shit but then call ME a troll you motherfucker! I've heard Devn's version. You call it a masterpiece? Haha REALLY? It aint SHIT! Its about as deep as your mothers MOUTH and half as deep as her fat ASS!! The ONLY reason to listen Devin the Douche's song even ONCE is due to the sampling of Rick James song. Devins weakass lyrics can't stand alone...or should I say it aint ANYTHANG. Ur exactly the ignorant type of motherfucker I was talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @deejayroyalt1 NICE!!

  • @deejayroyalt1 Butt hurt?

  • @charlee420 ROFLMAO!!! Ur such a douche!!! I love when ignorant peeps make comments...it makes for great entertainment.....ur so dumb sweetie....where u from? Detroit????

  • @charlee420 OH SHIT!!! Hahahaha!! Ok BRO...you didn't say you was just a BABY BOY!! Daayum, just checked ur channel and your um....MYSPACE link (Seriously? MySpace?..LOL). Now I know where Jaime Kennedy got the inspiration for MALIBU'S MOST WANTED. Listen up B-Rad, before you go leaving comments concerning Grown-Up matters, maybe you'd better think twice and just stick to the kiddie playground. You'll save yourself the embarrassment and in time you'll learn what REAL MUSIC is all about... Peace

  • @deejayroyalt1 2nd!

  • @deejayroyalt1 fool shut up. if they like them songs than let em, three six mafia and devin the dude wreck it. and thse songs sampled this jam. chill the fuck out. you probably dont even like this song bitch aass dude

  • @deejayroyalt1 I feel where you coming from bruh... but damn... you really believe Devin aint talented? i mean dont get me wrong, the song "Anything" wouldnt be what it is if it wasnt for this, but that song CHANGES LIVES!!! hahaha... i cant say the same for the 3'6 mafia version though... but whatever.. peace

  • @deejayroyalt1 YES!.....'nuff said!.

  • @deejayroyalt1 i assume that you are not a musician, if i am wrong then my foot is in my mout... from what i heard devin was depressed when he remixed this song. I love both songs, there is nothing wrong with remixing a track that is 20 years old by a classic artist. i wouldnt have found this song without devins remix

  • @deejayroyalt1 well said my brother

  • ya'll tripping it too much soul in this to have rap even attempt to be better than this the 2000's are retarded

  • @comna Tupac-U Can Be Touched (OG)

  • I know why, The Ashkenazi Jewish owned media control the Hollywood, motion picture industry, the music industry, build the hype to sell to the blinded masses, invest millions, and guide our children to slaughter. Little girls shaking their butts before they can learn to read. The next generation will also buy into this garbage'

  • Rick had a beautiful voice, he will be remembered.

  • 3 6 version is better!!

  • Comment removed

  • Devin the dude sampled this for his song "Anything"

  • DEVIN'S IS BETTER

  • @DATNIGGAFRANKY21 devin the dude smapled this man i agree i love the orginal and devins version good sir

  • @DATNIGGAFRANKY21 Nah, Devin wouldn't even had the idea if it weren't 4 Rick. 2 say his is better is irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, Devin is kool as they come and he did the sample justice. It's just much easier 2 tweak an idea, then come up w/ it by yourself though; which is why i can't give him full credit on his.On a side note. Rick and Devin both have very good concepts for the songs on this beat, and i think that's 1 thing that u can't dispute at all.

  • @jasonputang very well stated and I agree 100%

  • @DATNIGGAFRANKY21 what the F ? devin the dude is tight but this guy came up with it. you are crazy. devin is good but there is no way that he is better than rick james, he got inspiration from him OBVIously. you idiot

  • allot of good rappers have sampled this song......triple sicx did.......devin the dude.....and a few underground rappers 2......

  • Classic groove from the King of Punk Funk. Rick's first album "Come Get It' was a masterpiece and this joint wasn't even released as a single. Just goes to show the depth of this man's musical genius. I believe this song more than any other defines Rick.

  • jcurry3school and mightyblack1 the two of you need show some restraint and respect with all that profanity on here. My children frequent this site it's for entertainment purposes not for beefs ya heard me??
