The origin of life may or may not be via Panspermia. But the true origin of life would be where that life that seeded the Earth came form. So if Panspermia was true for Earth then it tells us nothing about the origins of wherever that first life came from.
@mtbee9 Life may not have had an origin. It's possible, but to me not likely, that life has just always existed as has the uinverse. Sir Fred Hoyle, who was a big of an odd ball but a very smart scientist, leaned toward that view. Hoyle named the Big Bang who never believed the uinverse once didn't exist. As you know, the big bang actually says that matter, energy, time and space (yes space..no place for something to be located) didn't exist before 14.5 billion years ago.
@boblackey1 "Life may not have had an origin." Interesting idea but if that were true how does life spread across the universe. If we assume that life started here there would have to be a mechanism for it to travel across space.
You could not rely on evolution to produce beings to create rockets and send of their 'seed' into space. It has been suggested that life can survive in microscopic form in the vacuum of space in which case it could be a possible solution.
@mtbee9 Frances Crick (co-discoverer of DNA) thought the rocket idea might be the answer for how life got here on earth. But Fred Hoyle rejected that, said it was too slow and small. To Hoyle life exists on a cosmic scale and probably arrived on earth via comets and space rocks. Indeed Hoyle and one of his Phd students at Cambridge (Wickramisinghe) did a paper claiming interstellar dust is made of bacteria. Most scientists reject that but N.C. Wickramisinghe, Phd still holds the position.
@boblackey1 " life exists on a cosmic scale". While I can agree that this is a possibility it is also very feasible that when the conditions for life to start are favorable then life will begin, just like any chemical reaction. Once a self replicating organism exists then evolution comes into play as to how it develops from a simple chemical form to more organized cells, etc.
@mtbee9 Life existing on a cosmic scale is what Fred Hoyle and his Phd student Chandra Wickramisinghe wrote in their book "Evolution From Space". I have no idea if that's right. Hoyle and Wickramisinghe caculated that life as it exists on earth has a 1 in 10 to the 40,000th power chance to have formed by chance which is a number they said is "larger than the number of atoms in the universe". So to them, life could not have developed by chance here on earth. No one knows how life began!!!
@boblackey1 "life as it exists on earth has a 1 in 10 to the 40,000th power chance to have formed"
I find it amusing that people can calculate the probability of something happening when they don't have all the facts. You have to know how life started before you can work out how likely it is to happen. It could easily be a natural occurrence when the chemical conditions are right. People have calculated an astronomical figure for the probability of god too. Means nothing.
@mtbee9 I have the book "Evolution from Space" by Fred Hoyle and one of his Phd students at Cambridge, Chandra Wickramisignhe and without getting it out, I think they used the most simple cell that could be called "alive" to make the caculation 1 to 10 to the 40,000th power. But as the scientist here on this video says: "nobody knows how life began here on earth". Biologist Richard Dawkins said the same in his interview with Ben Stein. So I see you point. Numbers for an unknown event.
Also stating as a matter of "fact" that something is "impossible" demonstrates human ignorance in its highest form, the marvels of the universe will probably never be known entirely, the concept of impossibility is a human invention, nothing more nothing less.
I think that the athiests and religious people need to calm down and agree to disagree, panspermia is an incredibly valid perspective on the origins of life on earth, it cannot just be dismissed because you (religious guys) believe what is written in a somewhat fictional book as literal fact, rather than a metaphorical interpretation as its original intentions most likely were.
Panspermia..LOL, what a joke, anything to avoid God right!..lol Homochirality by natural mechanisms is impossible! Life from non life is chemically and mathematically impossible, atheists pushing the problem out in to space answers nothing! Who created the aliens? where did the INFORMATION come from out in space??? Atheist origins have just as much Faith as what Christians believe!!
@5tonyvvvv Atheists realize that the beginning of life on Earth is not yet known to us, and examine evidence as it is discovered. We don't just say "Since we don't know everything, we'll latch onto the nearest myth available, close our minds, and pretend that we know that a magical, invisible sky daddy did it. Since learning about all myths past and present would require mental effort, we'll pretend to ourselves that our local myth is, coincidentally, correct." Polly wanna cracker?
@ndrthrdr1 Insulting does not help, and Parroting other atheists makes you just as Indoctrinated..Atheists make these claims all the time, and don't give me this crap like abiogenesis has nothing to do with evolution, You can't get to evolution until you have the chemistry for the first biochemical living system, all from undirected natural processes! Which is chemically IMPOSSIBLE!! Learn Homochirality!!
For all anyone knows, this could be true. Stop assuming to know everything, that's the beauty of being human. We're always learning. Think of how far we'd be if everyone was open minded to every possibility.
Holy crap why can't everyone just leave each other alone and watch the video? After all, what is YOUTUBE for? ITS NOT FOR SUCH STUPID DEBATES BETWEEN PEOPLE SITTING AT HOME ON THEIR COMPUTERS... just watch the video... it's interesting... you might learn something...?
Panspermia is the hypothesis that "seeds" of life exist already all over the Universe, that life on Earth may have originated through these "seeds", and that they may deliver or have delivered life to other habitable bodies. Sounds very logical unlike the God theory.

If God doesn't exist, then you would have to deny that the pyramids of Giza doesn't exist since that is considered as history as well.
Why don't you prove your claims instead. You make the claims so you have the burden of proof? It would completely impossible to refute every silly religious claim from all around the globe. Can you prove Shiva doesn't exist. Does that mean Shiva exists?

No, there is no such thing as good or evil, it is all subjective opinion. An alligator isn't good or evil. It just is what it is, and the same applies to murder and marriage.
Why do you think Richard Dawkins is scared? It's usually rather frustrating arguing with people who adhere themselves to an archaic belief system.
Okay, if there is no good or evil, then you cannot say that rape is wrong because you cannot determine what is right or wrong since there is no moral standards. If I saw you getting ur ass kick on the street, should I come and help you? The answer is no! You know why I shouldn't do it? Because it contradicts atheism to feel the five senses in your body. Therefore, if ur mom gets raped by your dad, you would have to ignore her feelings to become a real, TRUE ATHEISM...
@KevinVang1000 You are an uneducated fool. Morality comes from empathy. Richard Dawkins is not scared of Craig. There is no meaning of life. Life just is. When we die we go into the ground. Period. The Big Bang created the universe. Duh.
If the universe did not have a purpose, then what is the meaning of being a good person when there is no purpose of life? If everything is relative, then raping someone is right and wrong at the same time.
1. Moral law originated from a moral giver (Ravi Zecharias)
2. If God does not exist, then so as to the moral law
3. If moral laws do not exist, then we could do whatever we desire to do...which is to kill...
Beautiful video! What it does not explain is why it would be acceptable to believe that life started elsewhere, whilst it is agreed upon that the conditions for life to be sparked into being in such a manner is basically a highly unlikely event... (providing the correct environment for 250 some proteins to combine correctly, and this in a setting which would sustain such a "creation"). Thoughts?
this argument to me does not wash, we take it for granted that for life to exist there needs to be water, oxygen etc. this is imply life as we know it but other life forms may need a temp of -200 degrees to survive and not breed, they may eat rocks. very creative thinking but yoy catch my drift

@KevinVang1000 you're mixing consciousness and morals... We actually know very well how morals emerged from social behaviour.

If everything is all subjective, then what Hitler did was right...do you agree?
If you agree, then you made your claim clear.
If you don't agree, then moral values are objective...

If good and evil does not exist, then so as to freedom which diverge from good and evil ways of choice. If you knock these two out, why not the rest?
C'mon mr. deluded man

no
that's not evidence for what you propose.
that's counter questions.
Anyways
.
1) no, I don't know the origins of everything, I have never made such claims,
2) Have I said it came out of nothing? It's you who said that
3) I have no idea, I just enjoy the ride and try to be nice to people.
4) There where flourishing societies in China, South America and the Middle East long before the christians came and hijacked moral codes
5) Scared??? hahaha ... I doubt it, but ask him ;)

number 4 is a contradiction...
IT DOES NOT BELONG TO THE TOPIC OF THE ORIGIN!
1. u act just like Kant
2. Kant has been refuted by Frank Turek
3. Everybody in this world is narrow minded when it comes to believing in something

@KevinVang1000 You are an uneducated fool. Morality comes from empathy. Richard Dawkins is not scared of Craig. There is no meaning of life. Life just is. When we die we go into the ground. Period. The Big Bang created the universe. Duh.

eh, dawkins was an amateur...he was refuted by craig on a 3 v 3 debate about does God exist.
He's nothing more like Atkins and Hitchens, lmao!
Bunch of amateurs, lmao!

3. If moral laws do not exist, then we could do whatever we desire to do...which is to kill...
ur choice...

Then we would probably see life on other planets, dumbass.
