@eyeLuvTheOutsiders he just liked to wear woman's clothing because his mother used to dress him up and it makes him feel closer to women and relaxed. So he wasn't really a transvestite, great movie btw Burton is a genius.
Johnny Depp was incredible in this brilliant film. I think this is Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's greatest film, and this movie made me have a huge respect for the worst Director of all time, "Ed Wood".
@TheOzcarSound HAHA..all of the movies in history look down on him and
if you listen closely, you can hear within the clickety clack of the film sprockets, a mournful, utterly regretful voice that weaps, ", tsk tsk tsk, oh how we pity those who can only see in color, its a shame they are missing half of cinema history!"
this didn't gross much, possibly because it looks real and not the amazing special effects that are usually made by tim burton, but personally, i love this and i'm not supposed to see it
well stupid teens say the are burton fans but then the dont understand and like this movie which is my opinion best god damn movie what tim burton has made and best role from johnny depp..shame that depp has stop making movies like this and only does money these days..i dont plame him do pirattes movies cause he gets money of those but why to hell he has stop making great roles and smaller movies like this..after blow i havent like any of hes movies AND THEY MADE BLOW 2001!!!!!!!!
@ghostdog80 I completely agree about Burton 'fans' who either haven't heard of or don't like this movie. Whenever I hear some teen go on about how great Edward Scissorhands or Alice in Wonderland or The Nightmare Before Christmas is when talking about Burton I always like to chime in with "I like Ed Wood the best" and see their confused expression when they've never heard of it before. Fans indeed :P
@ghostdog80 dude i'm fuckin 17 years old and i love this movie man it's fuckin great. Don't misjudge people just because there is a big majority that think Burton is only good for Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland and Nightmare Before Christmas. Honestly man some of us teenagers actually have taste and like movies so don't refer all of us as fuckin idiots. I think that this is Burton's greatest work is Ed Wood, Big Fish, Batman and Batman Returns the rest are exceptionally great.
Call me crazy if you want but I don't refer to Ed Wood as the worst director ever. I mean don't get me wrong his films were horrendously bad, but some of the reason for that was he had no budget or support. At least he didn't wnat to rip poeple off. Now Uwe Boll (and to a slightely lesser extent Michael Bay) are another matter entirely. Bay makes some stuff that are okay, but he often seems to use over-budget effects before story. Boll.... well just watch one of his movies and see.
mr,depp is just one helluva lucky son ovva gun....how he manages to get all the eccentric roles in hollywood ...captain jack sparrow, scissorhands, wonka,, william blake etc etc...
Well... you know. He's SORT OF best friends with Tim Burton one of the most eccentric directors of our time. I'm sure that helps... and he's just so damn good at them.
It won Supporting Actor and Makeup, and deserved both, so that's good. The lack of Best Picture nomination is suprising, considering this is the sort of thing the Academy loves.
@OrganicThumb420 I agree. The first time i saw Ed Wood I was absolutely blown away. If this movie came out today, it would be Oscars for everyone, including Best Picture. It's amazing.
@Zinefilika - Actually in my way of seeing I don't think so, Depp played Willy Wonka as a creepy child inside a man's body mostly 'cause he never had the childhood he wanted or that any other kids had, he plays Ed Wood as an optimistical person with passion for his work even tough everyone's bringing him down. The smile, the voice might resemble Wonka but the personality and everything else doesn't, not to mention Edward's wife said: "That's my Eddy" after seeing Depps perfomance that counts :p
oh man its one of the weirdest movies ever ...i fell in love with it from just looking at the dvd case (only I've always been a massive fan of Tim Burton)
Love the movie and Ed Wood's story. Poor guy, he died broke and destitute and now someone else is cashing in on 'Plan 9' and others since it's cult status now.
No actually I did not, or else I woudnt have said that you ruined the story for me?
Do you know the history of Wolfgang Petry? I didnt think so. So obviously if you were to see the movie you wouldnt anticipate anything. Please do not act as if everyone is supposed to know who this guy was.
well, don't worry, my 'spoiler' was what happened at the end of Ed Wood's life, which the movie doesn't cover whatsoever. So i didn't spoil the 'movie' for you at all.
Whats that thing which, if set into a movie, put over success? Womens tits !
Wow ! This is a dare movie, grow out of love and that feeds by the responsibility. It aims to transform a failed hero, albeit posthumously. The play deals with a remarkable background of the Hollywood of that time.
I thought this was another brilliant Burton movie. Great acting, especially Depp & Landau. I still like Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands & Batman a bit better though but not much.
Johnny Depp is thee most entertaining film actor to watch. Tim Burton has more unique darkness than anyone other director! They are a brilliant combination
