Pugs are excellent dogs, they love to be with their owners at all times, they are good natured and very sensitive to human emotion. How ever they do not like to sleep in cages so make sure you have a spot on your bed for your pug to sleep.

I love my pug so much, He is not a dog to me. He is my little brother bc I am an only child, he has been the easiest and most enjoyed pet I have had in my 22 years. They adapt to your personality. He shares my pillow and blanket with me and I can't sleep without him, I love to listen to him breath and snore it puts me to sleep, and I cherish every snot filled second of him. I have never loved an animal so much in my life, He is my family

I had a pug when it was an adult, and she was a ton of fun and full of life. Its worth it to have one because they are so warm and loving. They are good with other dogs, and sure about cats because my cat didn't like her, but the pug certain didn't try to hurt my cat, the rather could my pug. I say go for it, but some more reading about them before you get just to make you can handle caring for a pug they are a little more effort than what you think, but thank God they are so cute.

Pugs aren't as sensative as most think. I have two a male and a female. They love rough housing and over heating has never been an issue. Quite easy to train and very intelligent from my own experiences. My pugs wear out my roommate's Lab every time and are very tough dogs. Not agressive at all. Very good natured. I was lucky to find my breeder. Passionate about raising and breeding her pugs.

K, just found out that if I get it then he won't overheat still easily and handle it like a terrier would, it's ONLY because of the palate it can't breath right, overheat easily, and get tired quickly during exercise. So this 1 surgery will then pretty much turn my pugs life around and how cautious I have to be.

As with any animal, do your research long before you buy. And on the topic of "rare colors" do not get conned into shelling out big bucks for designer pugs either ala "the puggle" do not be fooled into paying purebred prices for what is pretty much a heinz 57, also there is no such thing as a minature pug and dont let any1 tell you otherwise. I hope I have educated some of you prospective future pug owners...I will get off my soap box now lol......I am owned by a pug named Lola...

Pugs are more work than people let on. You run the risk of joint problems, obesity, and other genetic faults. Their eyes must be taken care of. Cats, sticks, even blades of grass from a tall lawn can do serious damage. These dogs DO NOT belong outside. They are inside dogs and cannot tolerate heat or cold due to the lack of a snout. The snout is how dogs maintain a constant temp and without a snout a pug is defenseless.

Do not get conned into paying extra money for brindle, white, blue or "rare colored" pugs. People adverstive these dogs as purebreds when they are not, somewhere down the line they have been cross bred with boston terriers, bulldogs, and mastiffs. The only acceptable colors are fawn and black. Do not support puppy mills by buying from a pet store, instead go to your local shelter or visit a pug rescue (almost every state has one) and you will find a purebred pug in desperate need of a home.

I have had my cat for 3 years and my pug for 6 weeks and I thank god everyday that my cat was de-clawed 1 1/2 years ago she swats every chance she gets but the dog just wants to play...if youre gonna get a pug be careful with their eyes and get your cat de-clawed before you bring the pug home or youre gonna have a huge vet bill.

well if u live in a place in arizona make sure u have a hose or a pool they can take a dip now and then....they are very sensitive to heat and cold....so make sure u know when ur pug needs water and do not have an overweight pug in hot weather....that is the worst mix a pug can have!

I have 5 Pugs--and have run the wheels off vacuum cleaners! :-) Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful dogs with a marvelous sense of humor. And they're right--the males are more laid back than females. The females are very adorable and loving, too, but tend to be a tad bossy. :-D The youngest female in the house is the one who runs the show!
