  • Easy don't eat fastfood, canned food, or Frozen food

  • @PaintingHeartsBlack sorry but not me LOL (after tsunami, No Way).

  • ok so who wants to move to japan with me?

  • ...I WANNA SAY LOL!!...but is that mean?

  • Better education is the answer. I grew up an obese child and then an obese teen at 250 lbs. I now weigh 135 through exercise and eating much more vegetables than I ever incorporated in my diet. While I knew vaguely consuming less calories meant being healthier it wasn't till I did my own research that I learned how to do it. We need nutrition education in schools because many parent in America do not have the education about nutrition to teach their kids how to steer clear of chronic diseases.

  • One issue we're overlooking is that most Japanese food is made from scratch, which controls the amount of sugar, fat, and salt going into a dish. The U.S. relies very heavily on processed, prepared foods in our diets. Many of the companies tend to use corn product fillers, sugars, and oils that are hidden in the prep process. Go to your pantry and check out the labels on, say, spaghetti sauce. Lower reliance on prepared foods may be Japan's secret!

  • Probably another factor is their hard working.

Brain Cells and Physical Activity Combined.

  • It's not as much the diet as the fact it's a law there. You get pretty screwed if your body fat is over a certain percentage. Counseling, higher costs and possibly fines. Well that and alot of rice.

  • My family rarely eats out unless it's a special occasion or we've been traveling. But all my life I've been eating home grown/ home cooked meals, plus I also agree that this is an unfair match up because its kind of a rule at my home that we fill up our plates to the brim and eat everything on it! Thumbs up for spam and rice :D

  • *sigh*

they also stress on looks, and weight

they have the highest suicide rate (stress, depression, etc.)

I also agree with a lot of the comments that this was an "unfair match-up"

  • No Shit...My cousin drinks at least 20 Cokes or Mountain dews every damn day!!! He weighs 380 pounds too!!

  • Japan vs USA...that's an unfair match-up

I live in the US. and sometimes dream i'm japanese...then wake up disappointed

    that should say enough

  • To me it is rare to drink soda drinks. I don't like Soda drinks very much I prefer water. - Australia

  • @wornoutshoes11 I believe Americans need to relax & take time out...with that comes healthy choices, as they will be able to have time to cook. It's simply the lifestlye. By the way, there are a lot of Americans that cook, just not enough apparently. Some fast food places are attempting to come out w/ healthy foods...slowly but surely...But like I said, any food can taste well. It's what you grow up with. Like me for example, I grew up w/ home cooked Albanian meals. That's my preferance.

  • @wornoutshoes11 Americans are always on the go; no time for cooking w/ such busy schedules. Other countries have fast food as well. Asians also have McDonald's. I never said anything about not liking the taste b/c any food (when done properly) can taste great & can be healthy; it's a matter of preferance. Fast food industries have convenience & price, as they are cheap & everywhere.

  • big reasons: small portions, and they walk around a TON

  • @SwordOfWulves I have asian friends who are very cultural. I have been invited into their home b/c I am considered a good friend. I don't prefer their food (I prefer my cultural) but it's rude to say no. Almost all of their food, from what I've tasted, has large amounts of sugar and is fried. I've been assured by them that it's the food they used to eat back in Japan. Clearly I'm not siding w/ U.S or Japan; U.S gets trashed so much when other countried have shitty food as well. smh..

  • @PsychologicalCynic So true. So fucking true. Why live longer anyway....this place is a shithole with 'beauty' as its mask; ugly world due to our creation of course....

  • I lived in Japan and I actually don’t think the diet is as healthy as people would think. I was surprised by how carb heavy the diet is. On hot days, instead of carrying bottled water many people carry bottled tea which has a lot of sugar, and cake is a favorite dessert. A difference is they eat more European style sweets which do taste like they have less sugar. What they do have is moderation and tiny portion sizes. About 1/3 of men smoke, but that's another conversation altogether.

  • food marketing is manipulating my mind. i'm not intelligent enough to choose my own food.

  • now give the one why americans are 5 inches taller on average

  • Personally, I don't believe in drinking soft drinks or soda. Last soda I had was like... Three years ago? All water, tea and milk now. And I'm feeling so much better since I stop drinking soda.

    Hooray for the Japanese diet.

  • Why the hell would i want to live longer.

  • This is so true!Im an 2nd generation Japanese American and when I grew up living with my parents all we ate was these healthy food shes talking about. And we didnt even think it was healthy because its our cultures food. When I eat Japanese food "healthy" doesnt cross my mind, Im so used to eating it.I remember I used to get so jealous of other kids lunches at school 'cause theyll get pizza and P&J and all these other fast food and I got a lunch box with the typical Japanese style school lunch lol

  • I drink about 1 or 2 cans a week. Sometimes 3. Hardly ever that much. I don't like drinking soda. I run a lot so i drink a lot of water.

  • lol. asians have a high heredity for diabetes just saying.

  • go to japan shits never gonna change here for the better

  • the food looks like throw up

  • @VicodinKing91 If you see the greasy sh***t that oozes out of burgers etc, actual throw up sounds like it's in the same class.

  • It really surprises me that your friend was amazed by how much American food seems to taste like it has sugar in it.

I have been living in Japan for over a year, and I can say with absolute certainty that Japanese people love sugar. "Sukiyaki, Miso Katsu, Oyakodon, Gyudon, etc". Every time I think of a Japanese dish, half of the meals that come to mind use a certain amount if not a significant amount of sugar and soy sauce..

What you are describing sound more like a Southern Asian diet to me.

  • This is the reason I'm moving to Japan later in my life. I believe the saying goes "Goujasu Derishasu Dekaruchaa!"

  • Hey, if you wanna live longer, go right ahead. When i'm dead and smiling in happiness from eating the foods i like, and you are still alive and kicking eating the foods you like... Well, you wont miss me cause i was an unhealthy eater, and i wont miss you because I'm dead and ate what i wanted.

  • @PsychologicalCynic youre retarded.

  • @CreateYourWorld1111 You mean "you're?" You know, "you are?" Learn to spell, then i might take you seriously.

  • @PsychologicalCynic Might be a PAINFULL death though, you think you might get "lucky" and die before you hit the floor? What about your family etc, they don't care I guess.

You thinking like a smoker, heavy drinker etc they usually say the same thing UNTIL they are slowly dieing when their body shuts down. Many in my family are doctors, they see these kina thinking every day.

  • @cramsa We all die. I am a guy who likes planning, and to die a painful death (Slow is subjective here, considering i would probably blow my head off if the pain got to bad.) It's better to die a death that takes about... a day. Then live longer and longer, eating foods i don't like, doing things i don't want to do, being miserable and dragging my heals threw it all... And i do smoke (Heavily) if i didn't i would have to go back on on 2000 milligrams of crap medication for psychosis.

  • In another country, If people see you eating fast food . People will call us poor or lzy

  • America needs to be more like japan when its food related.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how people say WE as Americans consume this or that much more than other countries. As if she says everybody who lives there can't use our heads.. There are many different cultures in America who still prepare and eat foods from their cultures. Japanese people fry ALOT of foods... from fish to chicken, some of the broths from the udon & soba noodles contain unreal amounts of sodium. And they love their sweets. Not everything is all sashimi, it comes down to genetics and proportions.

  • The Japanophiles in here are really embarrassing...

  • Actually China has similar things like Japan... <_<

  • @AaronH9111 In my honesty, I don't think humans were even meant to eat meat. (Don't get me wrong, I love meat!). But why can every animal eat meat raw, but humans can't? Why do we have to cook? Weird huh?

70% of an average person's diet is raw food. I don't think Americans should psych themselves out over the word "Raw". Your an exception though :)

A child here in Japan rarely ever says "Thats disgusting!" Unless they are referring to the nutrition facts on McDonald's bags.

  • All my Japanese friends eat nothing but candy all day. I'm pretty sure their low obesity rate has very little to do with diet.

  • @blubbq007 Must be American.

  • Ok lady, you are annoying as hell, yea they might eat better than we americans do, but thats not why they live longer, they have discipline, its beaten into their culture for the past 4 thousand years its been beaten into their heritage and into their genetics, american are prosperous and free, would I give up my freedoms for a longer life span and being thin, damn thats are toughy ... but Im gonna go with .. no.

  • @H4rdr1v3 Are you saying Japan isn't free? Japan is just as or even more free than the US. Americans really have no freedom, I used to live there. When do the American people ever decide on there own? Having lived in both USA and Japan, I would say in Japan you get more say.

Secondly, We live longer because you guys eat horribly. You pollute your body with all sorts of crap. Every thing you eat is cooked. Look at our diet, rarely anything is cooked.

  • @SwordOfWulves i'm sorry, my mistake .. I made it seem like i was wanting your opinion, i really dont. and eating raw food doesnt make it healthier.

  • @H4rdr1v3 Eating raw may not... but eating cooked takes all that health away.

  • Japan is the BEST!

  • Thank you Natalie, you did a great job. Something I learn today is eat more vegies even though I knew it.

  • well you can forget about japanese being the world most healthy people , with all the radiation they are getting since fukushima which is still leaking alot.

  • I wonder what Japanese people must think of Epic Meal Time.

  • @lonewolfxxx Godzilla, Alien, Kinnikuman I guess?

  • I was eating Miso soup will watching this o.O

  • and here i am eating nabe at my kotatsu table with green tea...

  • Also, Here in Japan lots of our food is raw. In America, everything seems to be cooked. When food is being cooked, the nutrients die. When your eating cooked vegetables, your not gaining anything nor are you gonna lose weight. If there is no nutrients in the cooked vegetable, its the same as eating cardboard. Nearly everything in a Japanese diet is raw. Raw food means loads of nutrients. Pills wont make you lose weight, only eating food the way it was meant to will.

  • @SwordOfWulves Well, there are pluses and minuses to raw food.... livescience. com/889-raw-food-diet-raw-deal. html

  • @ravenwolf We don't eat JUST raw food. Tea helps digest it, thats why we barely ever get sick. We never eat raw meat trust me.

  • lawl americans can stay fat

  • I definetly think that children in America should be required to take a nutrition class.. it's way to important especially for a country with a 30% OBESITY RATE . (CRAZY)

  • Oreo O's!!!

  • Japanese people have highest rate of stomach cancer.

  • japan rocks amercia sucks

  • Something that must be noted is that our (American) foods are highly processed. Even seemingly natural foods ie. apples, bananas, meat, poultry has been treated with chemicals and/or genetically modified. There is no doubt that Americans need to eat healthier like the Japanese but these food additives are what is causing a large amount of disease. There has never been such a worst time in our health than today because of companies like Monsanto etc. destroying our crops

  • @TheVai20

I agree and we need to shut them down

Congress recently heard our voices about the Sopa and Pipa bills and now they are dropped

We should do the same with our foods too!

    ^_^

  • you should go out in japan in the big cities and tell me they eat healthier than western europe. everything deep fried, superfat steak restaurants all over the place, tempura deep fried all over the place, starbucks, mcdonalds, kfc, burger king, japanese burger places, fried chicken everywhere. . people who think the average japanese person still eats that healthy is diluting themselves.

  • Dumbasses, it isn't just japanese its all asians. I hate how the West defines the West entirely as "Japan"

  • @UnbIacken Sorry, more like chinese

  • @UnbIacken I hate how the east defines the west as "America"

  • @airjoe49 usually the west is just whites

  • Whatever American food is damn delicious. Southern food is the best. Eating cocoa puffs as I watch this.

  • @strtthshw thats why america is fat

  • japon es mejor en todo los sentidos viva japon!!!!!!

  • Somalia has the lowest Obesity rate in the world

  • @TheJasonDR That is not the least bit surprising

  • @TheJasonDR Not to forget North Korea.

  • are they short because of their race or of their diet?

  • I would be delighted to travel to Japan to tried their food and lived longer. Better than processed and gutton america that im unfortunately is staying at. Im broke and needs to leave this dump country.

  • They eat rice, lean beef, fish and chicken. Americans do too, but we deep fry it, smother everything in gravy and cheese, and then throw some butter on top.

  • i like USA and ofcourse my own country :) i want to trip to US sometimes

  • Well, get to the kitchen then!

Fing jap food isn't made by itself!

And jap women don't talk back to men too!

  • I'm not sure how cultures that eat a lot of fish are so healthy. Fish have mercury in them...

  • @dragonbreathstinks You obviously havent heard about the numerous japanese with minimata disease.

  • I do believe children should be taught to eat well, but not by schools, by parents. Prefferably by example. I was slightly over weight when I graduated high school, and a few years ago almost totally gave up soda pop. I am thinner and look fantastic!

  • People forget America is not fattest country (No.9), Kuwait is fatter (No.8).... they cook at home... so whats the excuse now? Asians have faster metabolism & Europeans walk everywhere as opposed to living in any town USA where you have to drive just to get milk....

  • I don't drink soda, because it actually is painful when I try to drink it.

  • @kkkat1234 Me too

  • @kkkat1234 i always told my friends it was painful for me to drink soda but no one understood.lol.this is the first time am seeing another person with the problem

  • We should be more healthy. (America) LOL

  • I'm an Australian and when I went to America when I was 11 with my family we all thought the same thing about everything being sweet and it literally was everything but the water :p! The pizza the bread the giant pretzels everything was nuts sweet.

  • This is so true because when I was growing up I’d often see people of all ages who were overweight and still eating fatty food like nothing. It’s also true when said about the amount of sugar in our food. Because I was born with only one kidney, which meant I couldn’t eat food or drink anything that had high amounts of sugar, color, or processes food, and so. Therefore, you can tell that I grow up like the Japanese food wise anyways.

  • Its still more about genes, females die younger an males live almost to 100 in my family even when all of em still drink, or chew tobacco or eat bacon every day, which is gay cuz I'm a girl.

  • Sushi is my favorite food. you dont need anything else! its sooo gooood!

  • well to be fair Japan has thousands of years on us

  • When I first visited America, one of the first things that sticks out is how damn BIG the servings are like in those big soda/ super gulp size etc and the people are a reflextion of that, some people can't even fit in their cars and the fat 'flows.'

  • This is all just spurious contrived tripe

  • This woman is a bone fide imbecile

  • @Vindictify I guess you can't read... Nutrition is the topic but you probably eat some nasty burgers 24/7 from a clown named McDonald, probably a poster child for fat slobs too.

  • @Vindictify title says Japan vs USA Diet not Japan vs USA war...and im guessing ur fat too

  • Ironically the oldest living person in the world was an American.

  • strange that they live so long, smoking is extremely popular in asian countries, Japan included

  • @EricSchwin22

I know what you mean when all you see is people eating junk all the time

I would love to incorporate this diet into my own :)

  • I agree.

Being born in America I immediately experienced obesity at a young age. As you said Japanese women stay home and cook; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My mom being to busy to cook would heat up food like corn dogs, or buy pizza and burgers daily. When I started being self-conscious of my weight I immediately wanted to change my diet. Of course I made a lot of mistakes, but incorporating these foods in proportions can really make a difference.

  • learn to walk/bike fools... you don't need to drive Everywhere.....

  • @seaneagle You've obviously never been to the midwest.

  • lol the 3% are the sumos

  • OMG! The food they eat is even Beautiful to look at! O_O

This is exactly one of the reasons why I hate being an American is because our food and diets are pitiful! >_<

I can't even hardly find any natural or organics in any stores when I grocery shop!

It's all Sugar, MSG, Preservatives, GMO, Additives, Coloring, No Calorie Processed Foods...it's Ridiculous!

Wish I was born in Japan, I envy you..I do!

Hope someday I can experience the Awesome Culture and the Awesome Food! :)

  • @AaronH9111 ya, go ahead, give up your rights for food

  • @H4rdr1v3

    Sorry, but our food sucks

  • americans are fat because they like to rape other countries

  • @SpadeAce90 lol most americans can't name other countries, silly

  • @HollyGrrrl

    Generalizing.

    It's foolish.

  • @SpadeAce90 That made a lot of sense...

  • I agree that the amount of nutrients is really large in Japan. Only by watching a menu of a japanese restaurant I could see that they have SOO much different things to offer. I eat a lot in that restaurant, and still didn't try everything yet. xD Compared to a traditional swiss-restaurant menu, where half of the food in the menu is meat, 1/4 fish and 1/4 cheese -yawns- .

  • i want sushi i ate some and i want more

  • This video was very informative and interesting to watch.... BUT god her voice was annoying. It was so scratchy and whiny; i couldn't even finish the video.

  • @Cirris bcuz u fat

  • I'm pretty sure I'd be able to live off of only Rice, and green tea

  • Guys, Its about self control...

  • Norwegian diet! is the best

  • @JunkyHawk Let me guess... You're Norwegian.

  • @JunkyHawk Their women are the best, I don't know about their diet.....

  • @ripperduck Women in south carolina? Either fat, stuck up, or dumber than a doornail. luckily the dumb ones are hot

  • @daspense Absolutely.....

  • @JunkyHawk gross

  • Very informational, but I think it could've been presented a lot better.

  • your question at 8:32, I rarely drink soft drinks, because I like water more, total amount of softdrink consumed a year: About 1%. Total amount of water consumed a year: About 96%. Total amount of juices consumed a year: About 3%

  • so wat... we live shorter lives but we are also stronger and taller. Who wants to live 2 more painful years when you can barely move anyway. PLUS I HATE ASIAN FOOD!!!!!!

  • @seminoleboy96 If you can barely move, then the years you do have will be more painful. Sure, two years doesn't seem like that much but a lot of people would like to have two more years. Also, this video isn't telling you to eat Asian food, it's just telling you to try to eat as healthy as the Japanese are.

  • @TheFireMadness1 anyway fast food is spreading crazy fast in japan anyways

  • @seminoleboy96 anyways they still eat more healthy food than you anyways

  • @seminoleboy96

    And wider lol...

  • @Shadowlit001 true but were not as fat as polynesians haha.... anyway its our diet

  • @seminoleboy96 who said they can't move? Jiroemon Kimura is fucking 114 and he looks fine! He can walk and eat by himself. :)

  • this is why i like having a lot of asian friends :)

im asian but adopted by americans so having asian friends helps to influence me to have better eating habbits! some find this a bit racist but its true! i go to a middle school with a lot of asian students and i found once i started hanging with them more i was eating better and losing weight :)

i love going to their houses and having dinner with their families because they always have something different when i go over.

  • in america, they make "healthy: lunches with fruits veggies and other stuff... but all school lunches are horrible... If they raise the quality of our lunches... you know what, screw it, i want to move to japan asap... i love their food, culture, and music. :(

  • I'm a weeabooooo i wanna move there... (but im asian, so am i still a weeaboo?)

  • jebuz we're so fat xD

  • My associate has been adhering to DietOramy plan (detected through Google) around two or three months now and she spent the majority of her body fat now - I'm attempting to talk her into fitness, but she is just loyal to her DietOramy...

  • The 3% obesity rate in Japan is made up of only Sumo wrestlers.. so they don't count. Cause they're the only healthy fat people in the world xD

  • they eat very much fish. fish has low calories. The average eats a whole lot of flesh, sweets, white bread, drink a whole lot of juice (especially coke) and most importantly does not exercise. very much.

  • The only thing I drink is water all day everyday and milk at school and tea at night. I can only drink one coke a day but the last time I had a coke was a month ago. But I get sick when I drink cokes and I rarely eat sweets.

  • Nat u r so hot! and smart!

  • Lowest obesity rate... Highest suicide rate.

  • FFWD 4 yrs, and it turns out that the Americans are 90% obese.

  • I don't think Japanese food is always healthy

we eat a lot of tempuras..

  • @kintetsunohoshi maybe you exercise more and do not drink so much unhealthy stuff ^^

  • *looks at title*

    Soshi <3

  • 350+ vids ne 1 of them a sex tape with you in it?

  • 3,2,1, GO to japan

  • I thought Somalis had a lower obesity rate. Way to GO!

  • I thought 95% of the american people are obese. Thanks for the info!

  • @akinishi1985 0.o

  • @akinishi1985 Where the hell did you hear that from?

  • @dragonbreathstinks its true. Deep sea fish contain alot of mercury. (thats why they tell you not to eat sushi when your pregoo)

  • she is right. most of things you see advertised on tv and sold in stores are sugary junk.

  • as u notice japan everything is all walking distance or riding bike

  • Ur hot

  • They also meditate at those Zen Garden places....maybe that helps????

  • That's a really interesting video! I really enjoy japanese food and I couldn't belive how many soft drinks americans consume...I'm German and here people drink water most of the time.

  • @Tatatrash Heck, beer is healthier than soda. The only things I drink are water, coffee, tea, and beer.

  • i wanna go on a japanesse diet now

  • Japanese eat whale

  • Thank you very much

  • America is where MC Donald and Burger King came from, just to say some example of very bad food companies...

  • Very informative good job

  • True , im from asia . And im suprised that americans use a lot of sugar in their desserts and food . Me n my mom is like 'whaaa..' espiacially paula deen D:
