  • This man is the one of the best singers I've heard in my life. In addition to achieving high notes, it can sustain them for a long time. It's incredible!

  • He hits f'#5 in Words Darker Than Their Wings.

  • I think in Find the Real (in the "info" section) you meant to say B4, not B5 ;)

  • One of the best singers ever :)

  • insane! from 1:13 to 1:33, he holds that note out for 20 seconds!

  • @cvillebrillo Actually, he set a new 30 record !!!... :)

  • Myles has a 4 octave voice, listen to Traveling Riverside Blues

  • @Wmunchken doubt it

  • Boy he sure loves that D.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos He was good but still even in his prime he was never as good as Myles in my opinion. And nowadays is total shit Axl can't sing worth shit anymore.

  • u forgot Blackbiird High NOTE at the end

  • his vocals in save me are spectacular.

  • that E5 on Lyla is just priceless.... "never ever looking baaaacckkk!!!"

  • I have 4 octaves... but thats including falsetto and my low notes out of my useful range. I only have a decent range of hardly 2 octaves... Myles has a bloody good range, along with Jared Leto

  • the one category that Chuck Norris came 2nd

  • Stop Talking about Axl, he is a washed out douche bag and has nothing on Myles Kennedy

  • @cryppl3th3kyd Axl is fantastic too.

  • Poor man's Axl.

  • Actualy he got a 4 octave vocal range ;)

  • @mpv3000 actually its just short of 4 octaves since A2-F5# would be 3 octaves and 10 semitones if i'm correct?

  • wtf? why didn't you put the bridge of Open Your Eyes in it instead of the verse? the bridge has the most beautiful high singing Myles ever did =O (in my Opinion)

  • has anybody seen him sing my michelle? it rocked

  • "My friends call me Thor, the God of THUNDERRRR!!!" - Myles Kennedy, Rockstar the movie.

  • I have seen documented as a 4 octave, but not a 5.

  • I'm pretty sure he is documented as haveing a 5 octave vocal range

  • I'm pretty sure he is documented as haveing a 5 octave vocal range

  • How do you know that Myles Kennedy is a Tenor just because of his vocal range?? His speaking voice is VERY VERY low. Ive read that Myles Kennedy was instructed in Bel Canto head voice, and that is why he has a nice smooth high range.

  • @coltonbeezwax94 his speaking voice is not low im a tenor and my voice is deeper than his

  • @hefra345 We must be watching different interviews then. I've seen him live in concert, and when he spoke his speaking voice was lower than mine and im a high baritone. Im not arguing that he doesn't have range, I think he is the most amazing singer around. But I will say that SEVERAL famous people with insane range are baritones (ex. Halford, Geoff Tate, Axl Rose). He just might be a tenor, but from what Ive watched his speaking voice is fairly low, similar to axl.

  • @coltonbeezwax94 you can watch the toazted interview right under the suggestions his voice is not deep my voice is deeper than that and im a tenor too

  • @coltonbeezwax94 axl rose's voice is way lower than his

  • @hefra345 axl is a baritone! but axl has a range a bit higher than Kennedy, although the way that Axl abuses his voice makes his voice not as reliable as others.

  • @coltonbeezwax94 but who's arguing that????

  • Just saw Myles Kennedy last night with Slash when they opened for Ozzy. I'm more of an 80s metal fan, but man that guy can wail. Strong performance on every song, Sweet Child O' Mine, Rocket Queen, Paradise City, and Night Train. Fucking amazing.

  • Wow those are some high notes for a man.

  • his lows arent really low

  • He had his testicles removed to be able to reach those really high notes.

  • He doesn't get too high in his voice, but he can just hold the perfect note for a very prolonged time, which makes him amazing.

  • Hellyeah! Myles fuckin Kennedy!!

  • beautiful

  • Myles has a 4 octave vocal range by the way, not 3

  • That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you belt it out

  • Myles > Axl.. nuff said.

  • @FingerLickinGoood axl<myles cause axl can hit all the same notes and still go lower by like a octave

  • @hefra345 But Myles is the most consisted singer iv ever heard try and find one video on youtube we he shows a poor vocal performance. On the other hand Axl is terrible for consistency he might do an ok show then the next one he'd be horrible. And why do some fans derserve a good show the other fans derserve a bad one?

  • @FingerLickinGoood thats true about myles but Axl's problem was that he took no care of his voice he drank and smoked cigarettes all the time so thats why his live performance would be so inconsistent

  • @hefra345 what? that dont make sense, but you right at the first part..

  • @hefra345 yeah you got the sign the wrong way round you mug.

  • @mob206 You should add Starlight to this list, he hits some damn high notes on that one.

  • Hands down the GREATEST vocalist of all time. There is no doubt in my mind. He is absolutely EPIC.....

  • I can't really tell people's vocal range yet, but I didn't know hes a tenor! No wonder he hits those high notes effortlessly.

  • Can someone help me figure out my range? I can sing pretty low and high and anywhere in between. I have some vocal covers on my profile ranging from Caught in the Rain by Revis to All I Wanted by Paramore. I've also got Broken Wings by Alter Bridge too.

  • Four Octave Vocal Range, not three :D

  • He's a decent singer, but keep this choirboy, boy band voice the FUCK away from GNR songs! He sounds absolutely terrible every time he attempts to sing GNR.

  • You have lost your mind? Decent? Everyone from Van Halen to Led Zep have tried to get this guy to sing with them. One of the highest rock ranges ever. I have seen him live and it is unreal.

  • @CuriosityRoads Haha. He's a better singer than Axl. Hands down.

  • @newabortion515 Lol. Get back to me when Myles records a vocal as legendary as Patience, Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City, November Rain, Don't Cry, or Estranged. Myles is shit on Axl's shoes.

  • @CuriosityRoads Comon don't be retarded bro. Open your ears, clear your mind and don't be bias. It's a FACT that Myles' singing is BETTER than Axl's, technical wise.

  • @JamesKendric Technicality doesn't matter. Axl's voice is much more unique, raw and expressive. His phrasing is far more interesting. He has more range and vocal power.

Myles is generic as fuck and his voice is thin as paper.

  • @CuriosityRoads Raw and unique, probably. Phrasing? Lol meh. Range and vocal power? Haha nope.

  • @JamesKendric Axl's full voice range spans from the G below low C (G1) to the G above high C (G5), Myles range spans from the E above low C (E2), to the F# above high C (F#5). This gives Axl a solid TEN semitones of range on Kennedy. In falsetto, Axl has gone up to C#7.

Phrasing is easily Axl's. His delivery is absolutely legendary because of his phrasing. Myles phrasing is very generic and boyband-ish.

  • @CuriosityRoads Lol I can't tell the notes when people sing, but in his normal singing voice Myles voice is naturally higher than Axl's. Axl is a bass/baritone I think while Myles they say here is a tenor. Myles can probably go higher than Axl in a falsetto, though I've never heard it yet. But Axl can probably go lower than Myles also.

As for phrasing, I don't agree. Axl usually sings low then goes higher, but he strains his voice wayyyy too much. Just listen to his voice during the UYI tour.

  • @CuriosityRoads And I won't even talk about his tone and consistency. We both know Myles is already better at that :D

  • @JamesKendric Power is Axl's, without a doubt. Listen to their respective versions of Rocket Queen. Myles head voice is very thin and severely lacking in resonance, projection, weight, and depth. Axl in his prime had such an explosive tone in head voice. Listen to Rocket Queen at the Marquee.

Tone is subjective. Axl's is far more unique and interesting, though.

Myles is a more consistent live singer, I'll give you that.

  • @CuriosityRoads Oh and power. Axl's voice might sound more rough and edgy, but still he strains it way too much. And he can't hold a note as long as Myles. Myles usually sings in his chest tone I think? Axl used a lot of nasal/growling in his prime.

And I very much prefer Myles' tone over Axl. Much clearer, and it sounds more effortless.

  • @JamesKendric but myles is a tenor and axl is baritone, that is why they sound different and myles can go higher than axl :)..

  • @CuriosityRoads

Axl's version was mixed and edited in a studio...

  • @CuriosityRoads

He already has. They just didn't get as much popularity.

  • @CuriosityRoads Kind of easy to be praised when you're known for being in a band with Slash, though. Myles has participated in multiple bands, all being incredible and ridiculously underrated and doesn't need mainstream attention to be appreciated and revered.

  • @mob26 add a new note... "words darker than their wings" has the highest note he has taken yet! :O

Its in d very end of d song :)

  • @Dead07King what note is it?

  • now paired with one of the best rock & roll guitarists ever..............

  • best singer ever!!!

  • Good Lord that guy can SING!!!

  • a2, c3, d5, c5... what is those 5s 3s and 2s for? what do they mean?

  • @Melobione1 octave ranges

  • whats the name of the last song?

i i think is the best of all the top

  • i know he is almost NOTHING like chris cornell, but honeslty, he sounds ALOT like cornell at 2:36 - 2:43

  • @kodeman1995 Yup, the phrasing and the belting are very much alike.

  • This guy si so amazing.. I can't understand how somebody can say he is over rated, do you know a lot of singers with more than 3 octaves?? Only gifted can do that. MM.

  • I think it's actually an F# to an E# and down at the end.

    Great video, thanks!

  • Check out Miljenko(Michael/Mili) Matjevic from Steelheart. Particulary songs like Sheila or I'll Never Let You Go. I don't know if he's higher than this guy, but atleast he's one hell of a singer aswell. :D

  • @365daysgone hoping that is sarcasm, because he's probably the most under-rated

  • @MooseTremonti

I am entirely serious. His voice is more high than low 90% of the time and it is kind of irritating. The main reason I would not listen to Alter Bridge at first

  • I truly cannot get enough of this man. From the first time I heard Eden from The Mayfield Four, to right now in this moment. The way he can sit down and put into words what I can only imagine, so many people are feeling. What a gift he has. And to meer8, good singers have at least 3 octaves. Truly great singers have at least 3 octaves. Only singers with a gift have more than that. Scott Stapp was a good singer. Myles is gifted.

  • i read this "Possesses a 4-octave vocal range, with his longest held on note timed at 22 seconds (in Mayfield Four's "Summergirl") his longest note streak with one breath is 31 seconds in Alter Bridge's "Blackbird")" on IMDB so, he has 4 octaves, and so does Chris Cornell. but who knows which voice can go higher?

  • awsome voice, awsome prs's....how fantastic can one man be?

  • the new album, on words darker than their wings, he hits an insanely high note, Im not a vocalist but I know that Myles is fucking amazing. And so is AB =D

  • @stigno89 He goes higher than that on Breathe Again

  • had rise today not come out before u posted this vid? cuz that has the best note I've heard from him. i don't see why it's not in here

  • No, not all trained singers have three octaves. Take Scott stapp for instance, if his voice was so terrible then why did his band sell 30+ million records? He doesn't have three octaves. And I'm sure these guys have worked with voice coaches before. Having three octaves doesnt mean u r a good singer. It just means you have three octaves.

  • @meer8 because its not all about voices, johnny cash couldnt sing, he sold millions of coppies because he had brilliant lyrics and rythim

  • THIS IS NOT VOICE... THIS IS MAGIC... THIS IS MYLES CENNEDY !!!... YEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  • @GangstaWarrior2012

However much i agree. Its kennedy*

  • THANKS A ZILLION FOR THIS VIDEO, ILY LOL, I MEANT MYLES <33333

  • Falsetto counts when measuring range does it not?

  • @Annonymus121 Falsetto counts towards the range but it's counted separately. An example is Glenn Hughes who has a bit over 3 octaves as his full voice range. He has hit C6 in falsetto so that adds into his total range and makes it almost 3,5 octaves.

  • @GoodGuitarSolos What about Freddie Mercury??? Watch his improvisation on Wembly stadium live 86'....listen that falsetto and admire :D...Myles and Fredie (R.I.P.) are in my opinion fr now best voices in history :)

  • Does anyone know what the third song is?! Cause it's definitely not 12/31. And I love the high note Myles does in it.

  • @chum1002 It DEFINITELY IS 12/31 - it's right towards the end of the song.

  • @chum1002

it is 12/31, its just at the end. asshole.

  • this guy has a thousand voices

  • @mattgsperm Nope. You are hearing a face-planted, well-supported, full-voice rock belt in all its glory.

  • @TriscuitFan this guy is a rock singer who knows how to SING.

  • @TriscuitFan Are you sure he uses belting till up to the F#4? I mean, it DOES sound like full voice, just want to make sure. Because, in some live videos, he can go as high as a A#5, with the same technique. If it's not falsetto, this guy is... I mean. FAR beyond amazing.

  • I don't know if iam baritone or a tenor. I can comfortably sing from C2 to C4 (one abovee the middle C). I can go lower or higher but with effort. I'd like to know what type voice I have, i don't want to pay a teacher just for one class to ask him that so any information is useful.

  • @leagiar The problem in answering this is that it's unclear which C you are referring to as middle C. If you mean middle C on the piano, and you can comfortably sing to a C above that, then you are definitely a tenor. (and an unusually high one). If you mean middle C on the staff, as in: "the first ledger line below the treble clef when looking at printed sheet music), then you are a baritone. (Male vocals are transposed by an octave when printed in treble clef).

  • Comment removed

  • @TriscuitFan It's the middle C on the piano, and actually i'm confortably hitting till the B (below the high C). I can hit the high C but i have to make a little effort. Besides that, do you think i'm still a tenor?

  • @leagiar if you can hit a high C then your definitely a tenor

  • Summergirl is probably the best song by Myles Kennedy. PERIOD.

  • Lol...I keep hearing Myles singing "Stand up and shout!"...Great voice tho

  • IMPRSIONANTE!!!! myles es mi idolo!! increible!

  • I'd give any thing for a voice like this. Damn

  • seeing him with alter bridge in london at the end of october, so excited!!

  • ah, check out his travelling blues ending too :) (in amsterdam)

  • Yeah He got that Adam Lambert Flawless high pitch range

  • I've been reading a lot of comments about whose voice is better that whose...whatever. Every singer has some unique quality to their voice that belongs only to that voice. Certain vocal qualities will appeal more or less to different people in different ways. Myles Kennedy's voice is like crystal clear refreshing water. I'm personally blown away by it. And I've never had that experience listening to Cornell or Axl Rose. But that's me - no hating. I cannot hear enough of this guy.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, what is the 3rd song from? I can't find it anywhere, and I tried looking up 12/31 online.

  • What about the breakdown of Metalingus?! Thats simply huge!

  • anyone know what song it switches to at 1:10? and the one after it, as well as the one at 2:10?

Jesus i thought I knew most all of the Myles stuff out there...

  • @rocknrollking270 @rocknrollking270 '12/31' and 'Lyla'. They are songs performed by The Mayfield Four, Myles' previous band.

  • hav any of u heard of warrel dane, warrels teacher says 5 to 6 octaves. which is crazy! hes ight but i really like myles a lot better. they both sound similar in certain songs. btw myles looks sort of like shaggy @ 2:53 lol.

  • the high on blackbird in amsterdam is crazy :)

  • sounds a lot like Cornell at times, both elite vocalists

  • this video only re-enforces my theory that he is the greates singer that ever lived, and you add mark tremonti's epicness, nothing but awesome shit.

  • Ugh...he's amazing...why is Alter Bridge so underrated? I don't understand!!! It pisses me off! Anyway, I'm disgusted by Myles' talent because I wish I had it! <3

  • 3:37 caveman :)

  • I CANT EVEN SING THAT HIGH AND I'M A GIRL!!! THATS EFFING TALENT!!!

    <3 myless

  • @mytilludie Look for Vitas and his song Opera #2.

  • And no dude, that wasn't aimed at you lol. It was aimed at that pirllo idiot...

  • @hardrocker93prs, look mr. sensitive its an opinion, plus like i mentioned my opinion wont harm anybody, or i guess i should take that back cause it looks to me you're over here trying to jump on me, c'mon man u just mentioned that i was immature, i guess you still have a mind of an 8 year old kid that wants to settle everything with pyshical contact, and if u dont want to deal with people on youtube i suggest for u to NOT comment back u dumb ass!!!!!

  • @pirllo09 Man, I really think the jump off a bridge line is the best thing for you to do right about now. Your bringing up the fact that its just an opinion, but yet your first comment told everyone else that they were wrong. What is wrong with your mental processing, that you cant see your saying two opposite things at the same time. Dude, your opinion doesnt matter to me, but when you insult everybody that has a different opinion than you, that does bother me.

  • @hardrocker93prs , hey dumb ass my first ever comment oh this whack ass video was an opinion, dizzing everybody!!!

OPINION!!! EXPRESSION!!!! IF IT DOESNT MATTER TO YOU WHY DO U KEEP ANSWERING BACK!!!

  • @pirllo09 Dude, yea the first comment you left on here was not cool at all. Its your opinion and I respect that, but you basically said fuck me, along with every other person that doesnt agree with you. I dont know why you keep calling me a dumbass, I guess it makes you feel like your winning something. I love Cornells work. I never said one bad thing in his direction. But what would you do if someone went on a soundgarden video and said fuck you all Myles Kennedy is way better than this douche?

  • ok i admit i left the comment without knowing this was going to happen, and by calling you a dumbass doesnt make me think that im winning this argument it makes me think that u dont get what im saying and if u went to a chris cornell video or anything that deals with him in terms of music and u decided to criticize him i would just give a u a thumbs down dude, thats about, i wouldnt shove it in your face, cause i know its your opinion, c'mon man keep up!!!

  • @pirllo09 Ok man, finally we are starting to agree. I hear you, I shouldnt have jumped down your throat because of your opinion, I just took major offense to your first comment, and it set me off. I actually didnt mean to jump at you because of your opinion, but rather your disregard to other peoples opinion in the comment. Your comment deserves a thumbs down, and thats it. I think we can both agree with MrAcidBourne. Cornell/Myles have way more of a gift than stapp. I like Creed, but c'mon.

  • Comment removed

  • Yall should just kiss and make up now lol

  • @jreyes2009 Yeah man, I guess its always better to wind things up on a good note. I mean, Id rather not continue to fight with that guy when there isnt any point. Better to agree and end an argument rather than drag it on I guess.

  • @hardrocker93prs, amen to that bro!!!

  • BTW, at the end of the day, its all about personal preference. I like both, but I think Myles is more complete as a musician, in that he has an awesome voice, can write awesome songs and is a talented guitar player too. Tell me that ain't something....You like Cornell more, fine. But don't try to pass that off as fact (i.e the "I don't give an 'f' what you think" line). Remember, that's just another opinion. Really, don't waste time running you're mouth on a vid that was made for fans...

  • @MrAcidBourne, ok ok cool!!

i guess i wont no more!!!

nice argument we had here, at least we have good taste in music!!!!

  • Soundgarden is back? That's news to me. Yes, I guess we can agree on something...more specifically that, both Kennedy and Cornell are 239857293875 times better than Scott Stapp (Creed lead singer) huh? Peace...

  • eff u all, im right and all of u guys are wrong, admit it chris cornell has more voice and waay more feeling than this douche!!!!

  • Ok, get ready to be raped with logic. First of, dont come in here and say eff you all. That proves that your a complete idiot with no balls whatsoever. Second. all of *you* guys are wrong? So therefore your calling everyone that views this with an opinion wrong? Need I say more? I think I will. What does way more voice even mean? Myles and Chris are about on par range wise. Feeling isnt something that can be measured, its something that is felt. Just be quit and be careful who you call a douche

  • ohh ok mr. english teacher, im petty sure u go through every commet and spell check everybody so c'mon man stick to the subject plz!!

dude, u know what way more voice'' is u dumb ass, u just dont want to admit it stupid prick!!! chris hits u harder on those hight note than this 'douche' ok mr. english teacher, so let people express how they feel, it wont do u any harm!!! douche!!!

  • Hey you, internet touch guy/douche...Myles and Chris may be on the same level, singing wise (at least I think so), but one things for sure, both of them would probably be able to out sing you on their worst day...

Now go jump from a bridge...

  • Comment removed

  • *tough* guy

  • @ mracidbourne, i never mention anything about me sing, so please u too stick to the subject here, it may be so but i know for sure chris will out sing myles in his sleep with a sore throat!!!!!

  • Go jump off a bridge dude. Do you think Myles Kennedy of all the people, really gives two shits about what you have to say about his voice? Don't think so.

Now piss off. These vids are made for the fans, not the critics, sorry...

  • Oh, and btw, it really sounds like you're one of those idiot Cornell fanboys, who is just bitter than Myles is getting more attention and praise than Cornell at the moment...

I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Soundgarden and Audioslave, but you have to be out of you're mind if you think Cornell has made anything great since 2006...

  • @MrAcidBourne never said anything about chris making good music from 06 till now, plus im not an idiot cornell fanboy that's bitter dude, lets put this way, has Myles released anything more significant than ''temple of the dog'' , soundgarden or even audioslave...NO. all myles did was this alter bridge thing and the mayfield four, did it get as a big as ''totd'', ''sg'' or ''as'' NO again!!! he will never out run him. oh and that ''go jump off a bridge'' thing, find a new offensive line plz!!!!

  • To us Myles fans, what he did and what he does right now, is more than enough to satisfy our hunger for good music. I don't compare two great dudes (Cornell and Myles) because both are Gods in my book and they have both accomplished more than I ever will, musically. Oh and Myles is about to release a solo album. Basically, Myles is "outrunning" Cornell at the moment, with AB, solo, and slash tour. Cornell is, atm, recording with Timbaland! WTF?!!! That's wasted talent!

    For fans, not critics

  • @MrAcidBourne , ok i agree with that, but Cornell is done that timbaland crap!!!

Soundgarden is back , and i believe Cornell took that first spot again with that move!!!

  • "...but my friends call me Myles, God of SINGINGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!"

  • @LynneRebello. jajaja, so funny...

  • The video poster is going to have to uadd the insane note Myles hits in " Words Darker than their Wings"

  • He's mastered sustaining long notes which appears to be impressive at a random listen. So yeah good technique, he's working well with what he's got. And he owns Scott Weiland for sure, but he lacks the overall quality and uniqueness of the greatest singers like Axl Rose, Robert Plant, Mike Patton, Chris Cornell or even Steven Tyler...

But at last a singer worthy of Slash's playing and one that could have a go at certain GN'R songs without embarrasing himself... Methinks...

  • It is not true that baritone cant sing above i certain tone... Axl Rose is a deep baritone... and he can sing fucking high! Its all about how talented you are...

  • Comment removed

  • Agreed with doctadre1. He is a baritone, he has beautiful lows (in the cd), great middles and very good highs. James Blunt is a tenor. People tend to confuse baritone and tenor singers because both can reach high notes.

  • it seems he will have some AXL gnr songs to do this summer with slash =D

  • That will be awesome, Axl is one the best, just like Myles!

  • Myles Kennedy is a Baritone. He can hit both the highs and lows quite well. Jonnny Cash is more of a Bass. Myles is a baritone with a great degree of balance and freedom in his singing.

  • 4 octaves man!!!!
