  • DC is still more efficient. In modern society, we run at least as much on DC as we do AC. Computers, TVs, Cellphones, etc all run on DC. Everything we run on AC could be run with DC. Power can be transferred more easily in DC. So, if Edison had won the so called War of Currents, we would be able to transfer electricity more efficiently and we wouldn't have to convert (another extremely inefficient part of electricity delivery) the electricity when it got to our houses.

  • The elephant was going to be executed anyway for killing people...

  • People don't like BULLIES like EDISON.

TESLA's name will forever HAUNT that filthy thief EDISON !!!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i will never change my light bulb again. no joke.....

  • Edison was evil :C

  • It was an Elephant that was electrocuted in public . And Edison was a thief scum bag . Tesla is the father of all the great technology of our present day like wifi,

  • How wonderfully ironic that light bulbs run on AC. IN YOUR FACE Edison! Ya sadistic jerk!

  • Tesla, TESLA!!!

  • your crasy edison ieva

  • Interesting video but that fact that Tesla's name was not even mentioned just sucks

  • tommis spit a sin tommishead u all for his sins tommislipasin notmuch he greedy and self centerd tommis bury u as sins he pretends his bad may ends for lord god wrath be struck down like lgihtning lord will come many ways todays and days end or when ever he wants u learn all times for serve love live with lorrd over dark

  • I think We've forgotten that AC and DC are used for different purposes. DC current is very dangerous to be transferred long dintances. Transformers by our houses convert some of our electricity to be converted into DC for our outlets. The AC is then usec for lightbulbs.

  • @HipieofBSA

You've confused me are you saying DC is in our houses or AC?

  • Yes Pinky, these great big fat pig homicidal lunatic monopoly men are the most disgusting creatures that have ever slimed their way across the face of the earth.

  • @centurion180ad

We've come a long way. The public response to this this kind of activity today would be mostly negative press for Edison himself.

Still we have a long way to go. The fact that some people still practice dog fighting for example show we are not all as compassionate as I would like us all to be.

  • @ekpil2000 I dissagree. It seems to me we have regressed. We are doing God awaful things to PEOPLE by the million, and the vast majority of sheep-people yawn, read sport's scores, and pen up their next football pool.

  • @centurion180ad

I think you've missed my point about animal treatment.

I think we've been more genocidal in the past (ask any neanderthal you like) though again long ways to go yet.

I agree there are a lot of things people could be doing better than distractions but at the same time they aren't the ones doing the harm.

The people shooting/bombing/beating/etc bear most blame and also the ones that pay them to do it.

It is a thin line, being extorted for tax money and paying for mercs.

  • concise and informative. good job. the most amazing thing about Edison is that not only did he do what you reported, but that it barely scrapes the surface of the underhanded and downright 'evil' ways in which he attempted to gain power money & fame. when it comes to his trickery, stealing, outright threatening of competitors, there are few who surpass Edison. He in no way deserves to be considered a hero, or even a genius. he was a power craving parasite & fit perfectly with the Robber Barons

  • So what's the takeaway here? We're not supposed to venerate Thomas Edison because he was mean, nasty man? Who in 1903, when there were different mores and folk ways, did stuff by today's standards that seems harsh or immoral? Come on! I'm a reasonable person and not given to outrageous comments so maybe I'm having a bad day but crap (drek, drivel, pablum) like this makes me want to find whoever created it and well, go all Tom Edison on them. Ugh. Every party needs a (cat) pooper I guess.

  • quite a good channel! i have subscribed to it!

  • Edison is just a marketing pig! The tech Edison "made" was really Nikola Tesla's work! A good example on modern marketing.

  • Not even mentioning Nikola Tesla in this video was just wrong.

  • Thanks for making this it is helping me with an biography on him

  • Topsy was abused by her caretakers. She revolted and paid with her life.

  • 1847 peoples must be electrocute

  • Tesla did it to better humanity, Edison did it to better his wallet. I hold Tesla is higher esteem.

  • I'm not sure that that means Edison hated cats. He exploited them, which probably inspired Bill Frist's experiments. In fairness, would we have the technology to power our computers that we're using to watch this clip if it hadn't been for Edison?

  • @spinemelter2000 Yes, because Westinghouse developed what we use now... But we might not be watching any sound videos on these computers without the motion pictures and sound recording Edison invented. (Or we might be a decade or two behind in technology.)

  • @GoblinXXX 9 Inventions Edison Did Not Make "Keep on the lookout for novel ideas that others have used successfully. Your idea has to be original only in its adaptation to the problem you’re working on." - Thomas Edison. 1. The Electric Bulb or Incandescent Lamp 2. The Electric Chair 3. The Movie Camera 4. The Power Generator 5. X-Ray Photographs (fluoroscope) 6. The Storage Battery 7. The Record Player 8. Wax Paper 9. The Telegraph he stole everything
  • @903harman My basic response would be "who gives a shit?" Most inventions have antecedents that either didn't quite work or were not recognized as useful until someone else came along and perfected them, or marketed them properly. If Edison had been a lone genius coming out with original inventions in his basement, instead of a CEO creating products he could market, it still might have been decades before the public saw any of those things you name.

  • @GoblinXXX Maybe so - but still - why not give a shit - it's more interesting and leads to deeper understanding. Ragarding AC - edison tasked Tesla to create a generator and then refused to pay him. Kind of a dick.

  • @GoblinXXX Maybe so - but still - why not give a shit - it's more interesting and leads to deeper understanding. Regarding AC - Edison tasked Tesla to create a generator and then refused to pay him. Kind of a dick.

  • @anxiousappliance I would agree completely that Edison was a DICK-- So was Henry Ford, so was Beethoven, and so was Charles Lindberg. But that doesn't negate their contributions to history. People want Edison to be an eccentric scientist coming up with inventions in his basement out of nowhere, which NO ONE ever was-- Edison was a MARKETING genius, whose real contribution was getting his patents out to the public.

  • @GoblinXXX You're right - everyone does not have to be a nice guy. But Edison's treatment of Tesla was gratuitously cruel. The amount he owed Tesla relative to the amount he stood to make was a pittance. Tesla was by far the more brilliant and - my guess is that Edison was a petty jealous bastard.

  • @anxiousappliance Again, I freely admit that Edison was a bastard and blatantly cheated Tesla. I'm not defending him personally, or even the idea that he invented things himself, just that the fact that his system of creating practical, MARKETABLE inventions got those things to us a lot faster then otherwise. If the Wright Brothers had worked for Edison, there probably would have been regular passenger flights in 1905. (And Orville and Wilbur would have died penniless and unknown.)

  • @GoblinXXX Motion pictures simultaneously appeared both here and in france. So that's moot.

  • Edison acts a dick.

  • This biggest irony about the demonstration is that AC is actually safer than DC current. When you are shocked in your home, the change in direction of the current knocks you away. With an equivalent DC wattage, you'd remain part of the circuit and be killed.

  • hes ALSO the father of being a dick

  • poor kitties, puppies, and Topsy

  • @stimjy um im not exactly sure if you were making that comment with me or against me..lets learn to speak proper english and use our words

  • @upcock I dont care spech perfect for u!! if you can understand that I mean that you are an asshole!! that is enough for me!! asshole!!

  • @upcock woahh temper temper its a video on youtube calm down missy

  • poor Topsy!!! RIP!!!

  • u forgot to mention that topsy the elephant killed three trainers..

    stupid silly pussy cat

  • @upcock what do you spect when u be out our native land and training to enternteinent silly idiots dumpass like u!!!

  • Again, Nikola Tesla is cheated out of history. When will this madness end?

  • Why is everyone ragging on Pinky about not mentioning Tesla? You all think you're smarter for knowing this, but you aren't - It's just something you picked up either through someone else or doing the research on google - For a while, people didn't know it was Tesla It also wasn't part of her point, her point was that in technological advancement, buisness wins out - It's always about cost, NOT betterment for humans Also, the irony of AC winning out because it was the better choice

  • The ironic thing is that I'll bet if good ol' Edison had used DC on the animals, same xact effect would happen ... It's electricity, of course it would electrocute you - Poor Tesla, everyone's always stealing his work - Shows that when people are shown something is bad, they instantly take the other as good - I'm not sure whose to blame for the thinking of there has to be evil and the other must be good, cuz that's often not the case

  • Nikola Tesla again left out of the historical record. Tesla gave the patents to Westinghouse. TESLA TESLA TESLA!!!!

  • Ha ha A common quote from T Edison, " Ere I've stolen all these great ideas, do you want to help me kill as many animals, pets and people as we can? I've only got two hands you know. Ere get hold of the tail on that dolphin and help me lift it into the chair will you. I know it's dead, I'm having this for my lunch as soon as I've cooked it"

  • Pinky real motive is to try to bring down big business and our economy through getting people all angry at them. Pinky (code pink) is really a commie front group.

  • @johninva123 WTH commie group and sur you still living in an atomic bomb shelter right!!!

  • LOL Pinky. Man O man you sure are trying the velify everything American. What next? Is George Washington really an evil master? I like the part where the elaphant was fried and I also like pinky throwing in the electric chair part. Poor little cats and dogs had to be electicfied just so we could have electicity.

  • @johninva123 even heroes have an dark side!!! and WTH do you like see animals suffer and die slowly and painfull!!!, FBI must be watching you cuz you could be an american phsyco killer!!!

  • Edison only suggested electrocution as the means of execution. Topsy was sentenced to be executed for killing three men, the alternative would have been hanging.

  • Edison was a half inventor and cruel business man. It is a team of inventors that invented most of "his" inventions.

Tesla needed no slave labour to dominate Edison. He was the brain behind all his inventions.

Tesla is a genius , Edison just a sour cruel business man.

Edison's cruelty matched only by his tunel vision lunatic persistence.

  • Hey Pinky !!! What about Nikola Tesla???You are disinformation agent.

  • Pinky never lets inconvenient facts get in the way of her story. She found a great way to deal with them, just leave them out and ignore them. Then they never exsisted and all's right in her own little world.

  • excuse me it was tesla who discovered AC get the facts right moron

  • the elephant lol XD

  • Yeah fuck edison, i wish he never existed!

    shut the fuck up pinky.

  • poor elephant... :'[

  • this was a simple video that was very nicely done. did not try to use big words or go off into sub topics. one of the best youtube videos i've seen. and it was true Edison was a prick in his life time, only cared about himself. and stole the work of others and didn't like to pay for the work others did for him.

  • don't forget "NIKOLA TESLA" the First man to INVENT FREE ENERGY a true INVENTOR.

  • Capitol punishment = good

    Animal cruelty = bad

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!

  • Edison was no where near the calibre of scientist that Tesla was. I agree with 420bar

  • TESLA > EDISON

  • wast TESLA the one discovering alternate current?

  • please, dont forget Nicholas Tesla, the midia always do that.

  • yeah fuck the midia

    they always eat my nachos

  • Nooooooo Not Edison! It has always been a toss between Edison and Tesla for me. But this lil vid puts Tesla ahead by far. Edison had so many great quotes though. What a shame.

  • the first electric chair was actually made by a dentist... kinda make sense :(

  • Thomas Edison is less than shit. I Wish i become the first one to invent a time travel machine, just to go back in time to fuck him up!!!! We now have to pay for electricity thanks to him.

  • Thanks Pinky We love much From Mexico....

    We send letters of love....

  • Electricuting animals is really disgusting and I hope he (Edison) is frying in hell now.

  • You forgot to mention TESLA! The greatest mind of the 19th century!

  • of course, Canadian Henry Woodward invented the Light bulb first, but sold the patent to Edison as Woodward did not have enough money to manufacture.

  • Joseph Swan, UK @1860.

  • Thanks, Pinky. I always learn something from your shows.

  • Thank you for exposing my American heroes. It helps me break out of the matrix. meow

  • Tesla rules! Edison...fuckin' thief!

  • tis cat is funny

  • Edison was a real piece of work. He was no hero of mine. He was a great organizer and business person, and he would "win" at any cost, steal any idea, and claim things as his own. His only real original work was in motion pictures. The rest was was obtained and developed under more "dubious" circumstances. And like another said, Tesla is the real hero of modern power transmission, not Edison OR Westinghouse. They were both coroportate scumbags (or heros, depending on your orientation!!)

  • You forget to mention that Edison stole Tesla's work!!!

  • Actually a man named Nikola Tesla created AC Current

  • however, edison created the electric chair to show the supposed dangers of AC current that George Westinghouse was using for his inventions and power plants.

Edison's series of animal executions peaked with the filmed electrocution of Topsy, a Coney Island circus elephant. He also tried to popularize the term for being electrocuted as being "Westinghoused".

  • edison ripped him off a lot as well.

  • @Laserous65

Yes!Tesla created AC Current and much more!!

  • @pensivethought No, Tesla did NOT invent or discover AC. It's the natural product of a dynamo unless you specifically configure it for DC.

  • @ignatei

    Thomas Edison is a RAT!

  • @pensivethought What does that have to do with my comment? Furthermore, that's a subjective opinion.

  • @pensivethought

    Facts that cannot be denied!:)

Anyone that uses animals and kill them is a coward/loser and will receive extinction since this is what he perceives to be alright!

    Morgans too!!

    And all Redshields and comp..

    Pests!

  • @ignatei

Why was DC commercialized first if AC is easier?

I think each type of generator is specifically designed for the type of current it produces. I suspect there are differences among AC generators if not in design in operation with regard to which frequency they use.

  • @ekpil2000 Yes, but that wasn't my point. The guy was saying Tesla invented AC current, which is false as it was always known about due to the fact it is what comes out if you rotate a magnet near a coil. When Edison came up with the idea of electric power generation and distribution he committed himself to the use of direct current in power transmission, until his compatitor Westinghouse realized the advantages of AC.

  • @ignatei

Tesla made AC generators and motors and light bulbs when no one else could figure it out.

The static discharge wheels and other poorly controlled electric generators prior to Edison were not very practical. You could charge a bell jar or maybe an early battery.

Until you had a stable power supply and combined it with useful tools the best use I can see is a magneto for engine ignition.

Tesla seemed to understand electromagnetism better than his contemporaries.

  • @Laserous65

    Check vid:

Cover up on Earth Ancient Electric Evolutionary Subterranean h2o2 Water

  • What's relevant isn't so much who created alternating current (on a sidenote, calling it AC Current is redundant) as who was advocating it at the time. @Laserous65

  • Actually with the discovery of superconductors, it is now possible to transmit DC current without the drawbacks. Its been actually proposed as the bases for a new power grid.

  • don't superconductors have to be cooled to very low temperatures in order to work?

  • yes, so the idea proposed (I read it in Scientific American a wile ago) is to build "tubes" to send both liquid hydrogen and electricity, were the hydrogen would cool the superconductors to the appropriate temperature and could be received and stored to use as a backup system.

The exact temperature needed depends on the metal.

  • that sound expensive, complected, and would probably take a lot of energy to continuously cool the hydrogen. It also sound very dangerous considering how combustible hydrogen gas is, and the amount of liquid hydrogen circulating god know how many kilometers of power lines. So while it sound possible, it highly impractical.

  • Well what a coincedence! I was just looking for a good source of great anal "sexx". Thank you my good sir!

    Die in a fire.

  • why did ac eventually win?

  • Because in ac electrons just go back en forward, not really traveling, were as in DC they have to go all the way from the source to the appliance and back again. So you loose a lot of energy on the way

I'm extremely over simplifying it (for all thous engineers out there) but its a simply way to look at it.

  • umm... no. Sure, DC may suffer a slight voltage drop, and it did. It probably could've worked, it's just that they used copper conductors then, and for very distant customers, u would need a more expensive wire. U also can't use a transformer on DC, which didn't have any moving parts, and to have something like a transformer for DC, you would need a motor-generator set. They actually use it for some power transmission, because DC has no skin effect, which means u can use thinner conductors.

  • Edison is in my top10 of stupid-cruel-horrible humans.

You should've mention Tesla, he had some strange ideas, but we now use his lightbulb! lol and he didn't kill elephants

  • Edison was a businessman rather than scientist. And technically speaking he "invented" a commercially successful incandescent lamp. He didn't invent light bulb like some say,he was not even first to patent it, and he sure as hell didn't invent "electricity".

  • No mention of Tesla. I'm going to conclude the extent of your research for this video was reading the back of a cereal box.

  • FORZA Tesla!!!!

  • gay cat

  • Pinky, Edison was the Father Of The Light Bulb. There weren't any light bulbs before his. At first it was no light bulbs at all, then light bulbs - his light bulbs. There wasn't a Father Of The Ancient Light Bulb or a Father Of The Medieval Light Bulb. OK?

  • ZenPapageno your retarded

Tesla created alternated current, Tesla perfected many electrical invention, all which Edison stole and claimed as his own

Tesla even invented technology found in cellphones and wireless electricity in which power could be beamed anywhere on this planet

Egyptians even used light bulbs with batteries they understood electricity and even had glyps explaing the concept.

  • not the elephant, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! no

  • Um, Pinky, to put it another way, Edison was like the documentary guy who almost killed himself by eating nothing but hamburgers made by Corporate AmeriKKKa. Although your animal life is more precious than our white American human lives, you could die a martyr's death if you wanted to by just eating one McDonalds Happy Meal after another. Think about it.

  • Um, Pinky, are you, um, calling Edison a liar? OK, um, the fact is that AC actually is far more dangerous than DC. His mistake was that spending DC to people's homes was impractical. You're being snide because of his concern about people's safety.

Pinky, when you have an idea as brilliant as that of the phonograph, talk condescendingly about Edison.

  • Actually Thomas put his name on Electricity

He was the publisher of science that time like EA is to video games

  • Edison would say...oh well, nobody is perfect.

  • also nikola tesla was hired by edison to make his dc appliances work then stiffed him on the payment he was the one that invented the ac we set up westinhouse funded it. tesla invinted a way to use the earth's own polarity to power the earth for free and remote control subs but edison could not profit off it so he ran his mouth and tesla lost funding edison had the media so he was wrote off in history as a patriot not a mobster. blame him for your electric bill

  • Good to see i'm not the only one who supports tesla. Tesla for the wn!

  • it's all true check history further, after the kinetoscope and that stuff was invented a russian man invented a way to print photos on paper and watch them, it was the first movie, he went cheap and didn't get a international patent he wound up dead and mysteriously and edison got the patent also hollywood is in ca to escape edison and his thugs look it up. i just had a test on it in my intro to media arts class he was the OG

  • Nuuuuuuuuuuuuu TOPSY!!!!

  • haha i wish i was around to see the cats and dogs being excecuted!! see all the hippes reactions like this one. give it up, its a human world and animals just living in it!

  • I agree this whole Pinky thing is just a bunch of hippie nonsense. All the same, once you understand that all living things are pieces of artwork produced by the same Artist, you'll rise above practically ALL this world's nonsense.

  • Part 1 of 8

Hello Pinky. I remind you that you yourself are a product of the Edison laboratories, because your animated little behind would not exist were it not for the technological foundations that originated there. As for the electrocution of dogs and cats, those experiments were carried on by others at a facility that Edison had since abandoned. They were, of course, seeking a more humane way of carrying out capital punishment -- hanging was the norm in this country at that time.

  • Part 2 of 8

By all accounts, the dogs and cats were knocked into oblivion without ever knowing what hit them. And those were stray dogs and cats that kids were paid to round up. Do you know what usually happened to stray dogs and cats at that time? They were stuffed into burlap bags, and the bags were tied and thrown over a bridge. Even you have no idea what a dark age that was for animals. But still nothing in comparison with what goes on in laboratories and factory farms today.

  • Part 3 of 8

And yes, the undercover cameras that expose such abuses would not exist were it not for technologies that originated at the Edison laboratories. Still, Edison himself would have nothing to do with those early experiments. He was even invited to attend the first capital-punishment electrocution but did not go. Good thing. Owing to a medical condition Edison had, he would have passed out before they even threw the switch.

  • Part 4 of 8

And do you know what happened when they threw that switch? Well, there was a technological misunderstanding and that poor bastard wasn't really electrocuted at all. Instead, he cooked for about 20 minutes. Those in attendance agreed that it was much worse than hanging.

  • Part 5 of 8

Regarding Topsy the elephant, that innocent creature was condemned to be hanged for killing its abusive trainer. Today there are undercover videos that expose dysfunctional trainers taking out their frustrations on circus elephants with, among other things, electric prods. And those undercover videos would not exist were it not for technologies that originated at the Edison laboratories.

  • Part 6 of 8

Getting back to Topsy, early animal rights advocates rebelled, and Edison offered to have the animal humanely disposed of by having her westinghoused while at the same time demonstrating the dangers of high voltage AC current such as is used today. However, in 1916 another innocent elephant was condemned to be hanged for killing its abusive trainer, and the sentence was carried out. That was Mary the Elephant. I am giving you a link, and a few other links as well.

  • Part 7 of 8

The article states, "Moments later, with about 3,000 people watching, Mary the circus elephant was dead, her lifeless body hanging 6 feet in the air." However, I recall reading another account years ago that stated Mary squirmed for about 20 minutes before she finally died, and the crane operated resorted to swinging her back and forth violently to speed up her death.

No, Pinky. I can assure you that Edison loved ALL of Great Jehovah's creation. Even you.

  • Part 8 of 8

I have four links for those who are interested. But apparently the posting of links is not allowed here, as the post containing them will not take. I will gladly share those links if someone tells me how to do that.

  • One final note:

Even this confounded internet would not exist were it not for technologies that originated at the Edison laboratories.

  • Umm... just replace the "." that goes before the "com" with "DOT". Example: useyourbrainDOTcom. The information you post is very interesting... I'd like to see the sites even though you come off sounding like the President of the Thomas Edison Booster Club.

  • Thanks! I wound up having to replace every DOT and SLASH, and I had to delete the three w's that start each link.

    DOTenDOTwikipediaDOTorgSLASHwikiSLASHTopsy_the_Elephant

    DOTgotricitiesDOTcomSLASHcontentSLASHarticleDOTdna?idnumber=020603132233

    DOTpetatvDOTcomSLASHtvpopupSLASHPrefsDOTasp?video=carson_barnes_long

    DOTenDOTwikipediaDOTorgSLASHwikiSLASHAnimal_testing

And speaking of animal abuse, I forgot to mention pet mills. But I'm sure Pinky already knows about those.

  • Please let me know if this doesn't work for you. The links are very interesting.

  • Okay, I just discovered that the system inserted some spaces in random places. If you delete all the spaces, re-insert the three w's at the beginning of each link, and restore the dots and slashes (they're forward slashes), the links will work just fine.

  • after pinky said that people use AC the first thought that went into my mind was "lol pwned"

  • AC was easily transformable from higher to lower voltages and high voltage is the thing you need to get lots of electric energy over long distances with low losses. So in the end, Edison was wrong, because there wasn't high power electronics yet needed to transform DC and so AC won.

Well, about killing animals and the electrical chair, I'd say that people didn't have the same morals / ethical awareness at that time.

But hopefully we are developing the world to the better in that area over time.

  • I am an Electrical Engineer, and it turns out that there is a lot of dispute in the technical literature as to whether AC or DC is more dangerous. So there is ofcourse no consensus....and electrocution through both can be fatal!

  • we might go back to DC if electric cars make a comeback.

  • Interesting--although I knew about the Edison and Westinghouse feud regarding AC vs DC. A friend of mine was talking about how wonderful Edison was for trying 5,000 times before he produced a lightbulb. I said true, but he was sick son-of-a-bitch who enjoyed frying helpless animals for profit. Her reply, "I don't wish to hear about that." Some people like their heroes airbrushed completely.

  • Call it human nature, Somer. It's rather sobering, isn't it? We all hear what we want to hear and disregard the rest. :/

  • It goes to show the power of showmanship. With enough spin you can turn a villain to a hero. A thief and businessman into the greatest inventor on earth.

Unfortunately Edison's type people continue to this day. With lab heads poaching the ideas and skills of hordes of PhD students and postgrads scientist. With success these lab heads wins Nobel prizes and all the kudos. Failure, and the junior scientist gets the blame.

  • Pinky, you failed to mention Tesla, the real genious and human-race-loving man he was, cheated by Edison (refer to the $50,000 promised to Tesla if he bettered Edisons stuff so he would become even reacher). Edison did not hate cats, or elephants.. he just loved money and power the most... sadly above anythng else. Bright man Edison, however I hope he's burning in hell with AC. (LOL). BTW, to all greedy people, there are no BANKS in heaven or hell.

  • Lol! Maybe just power banks for electricuting the greedy bastards XD! Love your post ;)

  • Cont: Edison did finance the development of the Electric Chair which used extremely high AC voltage. But required an AC generator which he did not have, when killing cats/elephant!

He lied to get the AC generator 4 the Electric chair!

Notice that in AC electrocution victim is strapped down with electric contacts held in place. When Edison killed cats the DC voltage was merely applied proving what's stated below. Because Edison didn't have access to AC during the "Current Wars"! The Truth! ;)

  • Edison specified Westinghouse generators for executions and proposed the name "Westinghousing".

You're right, DC causes spasm that holds your grip and it hurts like a ****!(Don't touch the HT lead on your car or the 400 V DC line on old valve amps.)

12V DC won't overcome skin, BUT as you say if you short a car battery the High current will melt steel rod (experience: wrong size battery in old VW with terminals shorted on rear seat springs, passenger burnt bum). >64mA (tiny)will kill.

  • @1gnatz

I've worked on Corporate Yachts at BBC in Newport Beach, CA. A friend was the skipper on Prowler Yacht (Prowler Trailers, Fleetwood Motorhomes). While working on the generator for 110DC Battery Bank, he made contact w/110DC. I heard Screams & went running, he was welded via a screwdriver slip to full 110DC!

I knew where the Breaker was & saved his Life. It doesn't take long to kill you with 110DC. As it was he lost a chunk of burnt skin and finger. Didn't smell or look good! :0 ;)

  • @1gnatz (cont.)

By the same token, I've touched live 220AC and just been tossed across the room! .....and 110AC is just a tickle as your hand will fly off contact that's why they had to strap them in in an electric chair.

For cats & the elephant, Edison didn't have access to an AC Generator. So he used his DC & lied about it. Edison was probably one of the bigger liars in our history & now look what we use today? The much safer AC voltage. Thanks to Tesla!

@ndyt Electric Cars use AC motors!

  • Scarey stuff, I'm glad you and your friend are safe! Yup, Nick Tesla's my mains man.

  • The Truth:

DC high voltage (direct current) holds and welds to anything touching it. It is what Edison was in fact using to electrocute cats. He was in fact Lying about using AC to do it. Which is alternating current and is/was NOT used to electrocute people now or even then!

In alternating the current, AC will throw or repel a person or thing touching it. Don't believe me? Touch a screwdriver to a wall socket (throws you) and then to your car battery while grounding it. It'll weld it!!!

  • Sorry! I meant electrocute cats etc! He did succeed in duping the public into believing he used AC to kill those cats/elephant when he only had DC available for his Street Carnival Routine!

AC is indeed safer than DC, but don't try the car battery shorting to find out, cuz even with 12volts DC it will cause severe burns and hold you to it! 110volts DC will kill instantly and 220 DC or higher will cremate YOU while welding every bone in your body!

  • Thomas Edison was COOL! Wow. I had no idea! Thanks kitty!

  • If you want to read something really interesting, find out how Edison was getting his hands on these cats and dogs... Let's just say it got to a point that little kids were stealing animals and bringing them to Edison for a quick buck. "Honey, have you seen Sparky lately?" Little did they know much truth there was in the name Sparky.. Poor, poor Sparky.

  • lol such evil smart people can reap

i would expect these smart inventors would know the difference between humane and inhumane but it turns out mist of these inventions are found by luck

  • Nikola Tesla developed A/C current.

Check out itunes podcast Tank Riot, for the episode on Tesla. It explains how much of an ass..hole Edison was. Especially how he handled one of the first motion pictures ever.

He was the first movie bootlegger!

  • Correct. It was Tesla that first developed AC current distribution, and Westinghouse, being a smart man, bought into Tesla's system over Edison's. Edison was also a jerk for not paying Tesla what he promised him...

  • Maybe Edison felt no hate nor love for cats, but just didn't care. That is not the same as hate.

  • Hey, Edison could have "proved" the safety of his DC current (on himself) by using those same voltages & currents used in his AC "experiment" .

...If DC really was safer than AC (logically speaking), then he should have accepted the challenge.

  • I wish I knew where Edison's grave is;

I would spit and urinate all over it...

    Mother Fucker...

  • the simple reson that ac won is dc takes a booster station every few miles to keep the curent up.

thank you to all that mentioned Nicoli Tesla a great and under appretiated inventor.

    no sorry I can't spell

  • I was looking for the mention of Tesla after the mention of his financier who eventually double crossed the brilliant patriot. She still a good kitty. I think she used the word advocate or supported the use of AC but certainly not invented. Ignorance of Tesla is not a crime, rather a testament to the effectivness of information supression.

Everyone watching these videos should be able to attest to that.

  • GREAT STUFF.... RIP TOPSY X X X
