Anyway, the ship was called TwinBee. It had its own game series and appeared in various other Konami games.

Search for TwinBee (series) on Wikipedia.

Gradius ReBirth is pretty much a remake of this game. Looking at Maru Maru and the Moai Stage Boss of ReBirth, I can tell it's the same boss, pretty much. The stage order is the same too.

Hey Ace, I thought about doing a Gradius Gaiden boss run since my computer can handle recording PSX games with fraps on 60 FPS, it could be pretty hilarious if i could face them on hardest difficulty :D, also latest virtualdub mod finally doesn't merge all segments once but ONLY THE ONE segment you choose, awesome. laters, good luck
