  • Whooooooo...this man truly "owns' this song. Thank you for posing!

  • This is really it!!!!

  • epic song ....THX clarence gatemouth brown's

  • Clarence played country, bluegrass, cajun and soul not just the blues. So under rated.

  • @Bassyswing1 variety is the spice of life, as he said to T Bone Walker, once.

  • I had the good fortune on Catching Gatemouth do this number in Germany , many years ago!!!!

  • Great stuff here! GATEMOUTH LIVES! Love it!

  • いいよなあ、ほんと

  • Amen to the blues!

  • The person who disliked this should have his legs broken

  • Don't forget Don Nix! He wrote this song. And Gatemouth does it real justice.

  • Folks........this be the blues!

  • This song brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear it. Actually, everytime I listen to you Gate. I was priveliged to be with him when he recorded this and the entire Back to Bogalusa Album. I miss you everyday. (thanks for remembering him with this post)... Your Friend, Andre'

  • 日本最後のコンサートで夢がかないました。

  • I think of the old days, i think of the new, i think of things gone, i think of things to come, it makes me cry, it makes me laugh, it eases my heart. I can be anything or anyone when i listen to this master.

  • @phcoh beautifully said.

  • love it!

  • A consummate professional who truly loved the music and generous with it; he always shared the spotlight with the rest of the musicians, trading choruses. His gift to the world of music is enormous. Thanks Gate!

  • I knew Gate. I used to work at the HOB's in Nawlins in the late 90's. He had a regular seat and would eat there almost ever week. I used to talk to him & made sure that he was treated like the great musician he was. I met many blues men and women and he was definitely one of the cooler blokes. RIP

  • @IanCanefire Cool story man -- thanks for sharing ... yes indeed, RIP Gatemouth!

  • RIP old buddy. I don't have too much time and I'll be listening to you in that big Honkey Tonk up stairs (I Hope)

  • Magnificent! Suggest Gate's version came after Freddie's. Certainly there are shared nuances in the guitar solos and the arrangements are ostensibly the same. Gotta love Gate's voice! I had the pleasure of supporting Gate and his Band in Australia during the 80s, with Dutch Tilders & The Blues Club. Thanks so much for this upload. Go Gatemouth!

  • @B7aug5

You got the under-rated thing right.I've heard many of the big names in rock, blues ,country, live over the years, mostly in smaller venues and for me Gatemouth is one of the few performers that stood head and shoulders out because of his phrasing ,timing dynamics ,great arrangementsand impeccable musicianship .He was a prodigy.

  • This is one of the best blues recordings ever. Thank you for posting this.

  • a hidden treasure in his work mr.brown

  • The old master. Often imitated never equaled

  • thanks for the post. what a great song to jam to.

  • Oh how sweet!

  • Love the blues!!!!!!!

  • Amazing version ! 5*

  • This is not just plain music............this is soul.

  • Wow!

  • WOW!!!!! Magic...

  • exactly my thoughts... you aren't on earth when listening to this.

  • Awesome. Freddie King (another Texas son) does a great job of this, too. Gatemouth is one of my absolute faves of all time. WAY under-rated (or under-known). His swing stuff is among the best EVER.

  • Great Blues Ballad...once evere wrote!...Great Clarence Gatemouth Brown!
