they use autopilot. they use LNAV and now RNAV. on the 700's, they can use autopilot. on the classic 300's and 500's, autothrottle isnt permitted.

I know because I have friends that work for SWA. in the -700's AUTOTHROTTLE is permitted. In the classic -500's, and -300's autothrottle is NOT permitted.
