I can't say they are HEAVILY influenced by DM...though it's hard not to compare electro bands to one another. If you listen to Antiquity, they are more similar in sound to Camouflage than DM, but still they are VERY UNIQUE... De/Vision have become my favorite because of their consistancy in making great songs. They don't falter!
I love this band they have much subtile emotions in there Musik !! Eastern Europe (for example Berlin,Prague and Moscow) are the best place for making synthpop today.
Don't forget, Depeche Mode was most certainly not the Creators of Synthpop! Bands like Kraftwerk, Ultravox, O.M.D. Human League, Y.M.O. and several others beat them by several years! De/vision in my opinion has surpassed D.M. hands down, in talent and sound quite a while ago! Only De/visions 1st 2 or 3 lps sound like them in my opinion, then they moved on, and became more consistently catchy than D.M.
dude i love de/vision but saying they are heavily influenced by Dm is understatement if anything.and they would be the first to tell u that.
early de/vision sounds like early dm....and later de/vision sounds like late dm. (for example after ultra came out de/vision came out with monosex with the same exact sound).
they even play at depeche mode parties all the time ffs.
what? all of these bands put together do not even come close to the following of DM...don't get me wrong, they are all great but wtf??? Of course you are entitled to your opinion and mine could be odd as well but man..
on a side note, they steal a lot of keyboard sounds and harmonies form DM and Erasure...that is actually cool IMO...they were great and Seattle. I would go see them again.
Depeche Mode is an unique group...okay...but if You tell people building rims they do copy from others because both rims (the original and the new designed) are circles...it gets grazy....DM is wonderful I own every single and album (kind of grazy..I know) but I dont see god of music in them...I am glad that the style isnt dead...and that much bands do the same style..electronis, synthpop with pop and gothic and industrial elements..I love it..the combo is the clue..I am glad music exists
Not every electronic band is "depechelike". I love Depeche Mode with all my heart, but give De/Vision the credit they deserve. They stand alone as an amazing band, with their own sound. They are not imitators. Electro pop bands will, by default, sound similar. Just as with any subgenera.

I completely agree with dieZukunft...any good electronic synthpop band by default, will sound similar to DM, if their music is any good!

I saw them about 9 years ago in concert and his voice was so much better. I was a little bit disappointed while seeing this vid
