After 2 months or so, I do a system update from 1.5 to 1.6. suddenly the phone just blacked out , and now my phone just stucked on the mytouch 3g green screen everytime i on it. is it bricked? is there a way to repair it? you can watch my htc magic video to get clearer view.

I appreciate the help that everyone tries to give on these sites but when you start talking you assume that everyone is tech savoy and knows the language. Please explain how can I tell if I have a 1.5 or 1.6. Next when I connected my mytouch to my computer, I didn't get a file showing up on my computer. So did I do something wrong or does that mean I have the 1.6 version. Then what is a flash recovery tool? If I'm trying to install or put flash player 10.1 onto my phone would I have that?

You aren't very specific in this video because you say if your phone came with 1.6 ALREADY on the phone DON'T root well what if my phone came with 1.5 but currently has 1.6?!?! Please be more clear

@allanahjade25 If your phone came with 1.5 and you have upgraded that is fine and this should work for you. If it came with 1.6 on it when you got it, then you will not be able to use this specific method. Hope that helps.

@maxpain0007 Then that would mean your phone had to originally have 1.5 when u first bought it then u upgraded to 1.6, then rooted it back to the orginial 1.5? Then yes this will work. When you try rooting your phone and it only goes back to 1.6 then no you can't do this.

i downloaded the sappimg and when i click on it it says "to open this file windows need to know what prgram to use open it. use web service to find the correct program or select a program from a list of installed programs?

@jordanmascot you have to select save, not download. after the download is completed, locate the sappimg.nbh on your computer, and drag and rop it onto your mytouch after connecting it via usb, and mounting it.

After the partition is complete and you take out the sd card, plug it into the reader... Is there any other way to get the rom onto your sd card. In other words, I don't have an sd card reader. Can I put the rom onto the sd card prior to this step? Say, when I put the flash recovery img file? Thanks in advance!

@UaLrEaDiNoE65 To root the phone or load a new rom you will need to downgrade to 1.5. You can then upload the rom of your choice and do it over and over without downgrading again. It is tough to brick the phone if you are careful. No guarantees though.

I believe you could just use the USB mass storage option at the bottom of the partition/flash menu instead of using a memory card reader.

@outasflyguy You can't for the last part of it. You need to boot the phone and then remove the card to load the rom.

I was able to load the rom onto the SDmicro card by using the USB mass storage option on the screen that you get to by pressing HOME+POWER when the phone is off... the rom is working fine.
