Wow this seems hard to learn. I remember things short term then forget if not used regularly. I know a little Spanish, but would LOVE to learn Amharic, Arabic and Chinese.
@hungryforfoodlmao Your comment is extremely disrespectful to all. Either grow up, find a chat room with more imbeciles like yourself or just keep your childish/ignorant comments to yourself.
well, as ethiopian (right now live in israel) i can say that reading Amharic is very difficult... i cant only speak the language but cant read anything..
@Phonxer you can read amharic is you study and memorize the syllables (The Ha Hu Matrix) You need to get in your head the 36 or so first column letters, the rest are all extensions of those.
@Madisonmofo Its not only you, lots of Ethios thing amesegnalehu is waaaaaaaay to long. There is a slang and new ways popping up as "Yimech" or "wudasie"
lol i'm starting to forget my own language cause i'm surrounded with everyone BUT habishas. I can listen but its getting hard to make sentences as easily as i used to. The worst part about Amharic is NO one else in the world speaks it. But i guess thats why i also like it cause its exclusive.
Thank you for posting these vidoes, My husband is from Addis Ababa and Im trying to learn Amharic, I think it's a BEAUTIFULL language and definately want my children to speak at least English and Amaharic ( and later Arabic )
Many of his sibling's children know all three and they're still in grade school! Thank you for getting me started :)
I speak Arabic, Somali, Swahili, Oromo, Amharic, & much Kikuyu. The worst of these languages is amharic. & the 1s i like most r (Arabic, somali, oromo & Swahili) & don't thing i hate amharic i just don't like the language. & BTW i'm ethiopian & i was born in addis ababa
@MrAliye2 I speak swahlli, amharic and english but my mom speaks amharic, affan oromo, swahili, lil somali, n' english.... don't say amharic is worst plz
I speak Nuer, Amharic, Arabic, English and Spanish... Im learning Japanese currently. Yup it will take like10 years to speak fluent japanese. In case youre wondering im only 20
im somali, and my friend taght me couple words... for me Amharic isnt very hard, cuz i already speak 5 languages,... but i want 2 learn basic amharic... lol safe
To an English speaker, it would be. Chinese is a relatively isolating language, like English, for all the problems that its tonal phonology gives to someone who is new to such languages. Amharic is Semitic-not only less isolating, but a grammar that works in a radically different way than an Indo-European one.
