Ok then, I'll rate it. It appears very much like a student reel, which is incredibly surprising considering it's coming from a professional. The eye is everything. This individuals eye...needs some refining. As a DP, why would someone be satisfied merely emulating the most common, least interesting and/or individualistic trends ...from 10+ years ago!? Many of us are constantly amazed by this. "better to fail your own way, then succeed whilst conforming". What are instructors teaching lately??

This showreel was created whilst I was being being mentored in Cinematography by Henry Braham BSC during the making of The Golden Compass and he helped me decide on the shots to include in my showreel. It was his choice that the shot with the guy underwater started the reel as he said the image "burnt into his retina" like all good images do. I think that a good DOP never stops learning and I hope my next showreel impresses you more. P.S I'd love to see your DOP reel.
