Im a green two stripe in my school during test time you need to perform the poomse to get to the new belt or stripe and the one that got you to the level your at and then anyone from the past at random they choose to call out. it is about discipline to remember all the forms like said below to show and teach newer students the forms they need to know to advance.
i train itf tkd and our way of doing our patterns is a bit different from this, i think... but although i like itf tkd more (just my personal opinion) i think tkd as a whole is the best martial arts form in the world!
I've been training in TKD for almost two years now. This form is done very well, however, the back-stance knife block out is a power move and should be done slowly, with more feeling. This is my only objection. I had a friend fail the test for his next belt because he didn't do this move slowly.
@coolkid15540 ....so what if you have a black belt..i know of many students who have black belts and could not save them selves in defence...stop bragging
you're a good martial artist and all.this is obvious but honestly,i dont know why it is a requirement for advancement in tkd.i wish they would have an alternate poomsee option where you can create you're own and make each one look better than the previous in order to earn belt advancement.i know this may sound silly but i really feel this way.i can create my own poomsee's from my own personal imagery and i can put it together nicely and proficiently.shouldnt this be an option?
I've been doing TKD for 12 years and have been an instructor for 5. Honestly the reason that you need to learn these is to show discipline and the ability to memorize and show comparison to other students. Creative forms are a fantastic way to show your abilities in tournaments and in some schools are required at different black belt ranks. I see your point but just keep working and know that TKD is just as much about discipline as it is about personal customization.
@tkdnick18 finaly i can talk to a trainer. Ive seen many trainers who cant do poomsae and the technic they need to do. I hope your not one of them because it looks like they have white belt. u know what ive been the best on my club since i started because i have nature talent as the master and the two leaders tells me. Ive double grading every time and i have red belt now. My trainer the one who started the club is from corea and learned taekwondo there i bet ur noob like the other duch bags.
muito bom quero aprende com esse mestre.
