JUST MISSED!!! As stated above "Hot Pastrami" just missed making the Billboard's Hot Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 11 weeks in the Hot Top 100 in 1963!!!
I, Steve the Slayman, was lucky enough to be asked by original Dartells member, Richard Burns to be in his new Dartells Band in 2004 as the lead singer (as the others were not available to regroup) and reprise"Hot Pastrami" in two KVEN "Boomer Bashs", at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center with many other notable "oldies" bands. We cut a new album, with Freddy Cannon, Donny Brooks and Jewell Akens, but 2 days after its completion, Dick died of a stroke and "Mo' Pastrami" was never released.
