  • This Is David with Industrial Polymers again, in addition to my previous comment below, be careful not to use these pink and blue foams in hot environments because they expand when heated. We tested a sample of the blue foam in our lab oven by heating a piece for 2 hours @ 150F, it grew 1.6% and did not shrink back when cooled. This amount of expansion is unacceptiable for many outdoor constructions. If you paint a piece of this foam black and place in direct sunlight it can crack coatings!!!

  • This is David with Industrial Polymers, there are bonding problems with the Pink and Blue extruded EPS foam sheets if you dont first sand the surface and glue joints. These extruded foams do not have enough surface porosity for our coating to soak into and bond properly. Sanding the foam surface makes it bond better, but the extruded foams have very small cell structure and contain silicone to make the bubbles small and even as the foam is extruded. Beaded white foam is better.

  • @davidboddie Thanks David

  • interesting idea even it didnt work

    i love it my self

it makes very light forms and the finish as you saw is so nice (hates sanding)

    some warning to watchers though

this is a rather hazardous chemical that i feel should only be used by professionals

it comes with a manual that should be read!

one key point is that styrospray 1000 is a sensitizer

this means that each exposure will be more irritating than the last

so dont ever let it touch your skin EVER

  • We were not planing to take a bath in it. "We are professionals" ;)

  • @submarineboat

    ~nods~

just trying to keep kids safe

  • the first time i was fine the fourth i got a three week long full body rash (from exposing one square inch of skin through my chemical suet) they say that you can put it in a hopper gun i will never take that chance and get it in my lungs now im not saying its bad it does awesome stuff and i still use it with respect its just not for someone without the proper skill and equipment
  • polyester resin or epoxy resin eats the foam?

  • I've used some epoxy that does not bother the foam, but I have some epoxy that will eat foam in a hurry. I've have no experience with polyester over foam.
