Is your calcium reactor being released into your return pipe? I'm going to need to install one in the future and still new to the hobby, any kind of advice would help.... Thanks.
Do you ever have issues with low ph using the Calcium Reactor? I'm about to set one up and don't want to run a kalk reactor too. Would I be fine with just a calcium reactor and nothing else? Before I used 2 part and never had a problem with PH. Any advise would be very helpful. Thanks Also, do you have a backup plan if your C02 continuously pumps into the tank dropping the PH? I heard there is a controller where you can set a high and a low and this will send a signal shutting down your reactor
First you don't need a kalk reactor with a calcium reactor. You can have problems with PH in your tank if it is not properly setup. The PH inside the reactor needs to be stable at 6.5. For that I have a probe inside the reactor that is connected to a controller. The flow thru the reactor has to be stable. Too much flow can increase tank PH. The water output from the reactor need to be in a high flow area to remove the Co2 = increase PH. You should monitor tank PH from time to time to be safe.
thanks for the reply i am working on a calcium reactor for my reef tank so i am getting all info i can use thanks onething do you use anything to boost your PH i was told that cal-reactors drops your ph.
Magnesium chips are used in calcium reactors to add magnesium to the water. I don't think they will boost the PH. I don't use them since my mag levels are ok.
Hey, you got a great sump. quick question. I'm using a 2 part dose right now thats automated but am thinking of going to a reactor like yours. so heres my question ;p how often do you need to recharge your compressed canisters and do you really need them? thanks for posing a great vid.
When you say compressed canister I imagine you refer to the co2. It is necesary because the aragonite media inside the reactor only melts at a PH of around 6.5. At the PH of the tank it will not release calcium. I have to recharge my 5 pounds cylinder every 9 months.
Love it very nice sir.

Mangrove will do similar to chaeto algae, they will export nutrients from the system resulting in better wate quality.
