i want to buy this guitar but when i read that it has vintage noiseless i wasn't sure about buy it, because i want to use it for rhcp, jimmie, led zeppelin and modern rock, i had the impression i would be sound as a gibson les paul, and also want to use it live......would you reccomend this or classic player 50 or classic 50 strato or a classic 70..... sorry for the huge comment
I have this guitar and I am quite happy with it. I also have a Les Paul and am quite happy with that. Each guitar has it's own voice and you should use the guitar whose voice helps you express your own! Trial and error is the only way. Although I love Gibson guitars, I always return to my Fenders. Hope this helped.
@Rendell05 Where did you want him to shoot it, in a tv studio or movie set? This is obviously not an official Fender site. If youtube vids that "seem to have been shot in a room/basement" surprise you, you must be living under a rock.
Wow you completely misread what I said, the second part was not sarcasm. Just because I found his continuous repetitive-ness very irritating, does not mean I want to rip him apart, as I said, aside from that and obviously doing this in a fairly low budget scenario, he managed to showcase the tones he was trying to hilight rather well.
this as compared to a standard strat has an ash body as oposed to alder, goldplated hardware and this can have evry single type of pickup combo possible with the extra button added. With a standard strat you cant have all pickups at the same time and you can have just the front and back pickups working. Also this is installed with noiseless pickups that reduce hum significantly. Plus you get more finish options.
Nice playing, and nice strat! I just have one tip for playing hendrix- when he plays on the sixth string, he curls his thumb around to play the root note, which leaves himself the luxury of using all five fingers for playing. This also allows him to have some more fluidity, as opposed to having to stop abruptly at each not he plays on the low E to play something else, as you had to do. I think you did great on everything else, though! Nice job, man!
The Vintage Noiseless pickups are muddy as hell, especially with drive and sqounky in the midrange, very thin, no warm, Strat quack. The guitar is good, I bought one and put in Van Zandts and new tone cap. I can live with a little noise, but not crappy tone.
It all depends on the kind of music you want to play. If you are looking for Knopfler type tones this guitar can approximate them with no 60 cycle hum. There are other Fenders more suited for the heavier, more driven tones. And indeed, you can change pickups on this guitar to change its personality entirely! This is a well made instrument and even though its not American made I like it a lot. But I only use it for specific playing purposes. My guess is its not a good all-around guitar.
why would you bother with distortion if you are gonna demo it? it completely defeats the purpose as all the guitars virtually sound the same with that much distortion.
while i sort of agree with you, i think that it is something he is comfortable he is playing and gives the listener a chacne to hear the guitar...even on distortion... but you dont ahve to listen to some guytrying to improve and hitting x1000 wrong notes.... great playing i am definately considering this guitar
WRONG. The NECK pick-up is not supposed to be bright. That's what the BRIDGE is for. The neck is supposed to be darker sounding. And yes scribby, Strats are supposed to be warm. That's a complaint about hum canceling single coil pickups, they don't have that vintage "warm" single coil sound. They sound sterile. So if it makes you feel any better, you can add in organic or natural. All boils down to the same thing.
my are noiseless noiseless ! like one time i put my guitar donw and it was super loud on the amp grabed my guitar really hard and it scared the heck out of me i thought the amp was off
Hey, it´s you that posted that rockabilly fingerstyle lesson. I liked that one very much, it helped me a lot. Now I´m interested in the Deluxe Player Strat, and there you are again! Funny!
I prefer the Roadhouse strat much more than this one. Just as well made, but already installed with Texas Special pups. Which IMO are much much hotter than the noiseless pups. Although the gold hardware looks sweet, I prefer a guitar that you can get a nice warm tone, unlike this one.
Although you can't get them on the Rosewood neck without the HSS. And HSS on a strat is just stupid IMO. But to be honest, a Roadhouse with 3 single coil texas specials is basically just the SRV strat... which fender charge over $2000 for.
You can't get a Roadhouse strat with a rosewood neck, that's what I'm getting at. And you can't get a Lonestar with 3 single coil texas specials. The in-between is the SRV strat.
Great video and very informative. Cool playing btw! About the neck, since you play all radius sizes, how do you find the 12" compared to the 9.5"? Can you compare both for chords, bending and general 'feel' please? Is the neck chunky, or what? Like a standard 'c'? Fatter? Is neck dry or poly? Are the frets likely to need attention, i.e. do they hamper speedy 'up and down the neck' playing? Which neck would 'you' prefer for a gig?
if i were u, i would get the roadhouse strat, from musicians friend. its already got the texas specials in them, but hey, im just throwin that out there
are you talking about the MIM standard or the american one? personally i would consider this (and all of the upper-priced MIM's) on par with the american standards, and definitely a league ahead of the MIM standards.
i love this guitar i was gonna buy it until my parents bought me a car now ive to pa for insurance i would have bought this and a nice crate shockwave , its an amazing guitar for any genre of music personally i think its the best guitar ive have played and probably ever will
i jsut picked up a usa deluxe strat not the ash model though , i love the pickups what pickups were you considering? woudl the s-1 swtich still work after replacing the pickups?
I almost got one of these, but ended up tossing in an extra couple hundred for a American Deluxe Special Mahogany HSS, and I'm glad I did. It sounds sooo good through my Hot rod DeVille 4x10. This one sounds very bright...maybe a little less treble and more mid and bass. But I agree about the tubes. Strats always sound better through a nice big tube amp.
they're both great strats. two very different tones though. i have enough warm guitars to satisfy me, so i went for an ash-bodied guitar with lots of high end snap, mostly for good cleans and blues-grit type stuff.
But I'm just asking something, does the Deluxe Player play better than an American Standard. 'Cause I played with an American Standard but not with an Deluxe, I'm only watching review video of it. PLZ tell me! THX -PP-
tbh, i wouldn't try it. the ash body would make it VERY bright for metal, regardless of pickups. look at the alder strats or especially the mahogany strats, if you want a strat for metal.
Man, I have the EXACT same guitar (if yours is MIM) and mine sounds nowhere near as nice as yours! In fact, I am in the process of selling mine. If it sounded as good as yours, I would NEVER part with it.
But the greatest thing about this guitar is the clean tone, just like a fender should be of course. Also a little tip If you put it on the neck pickup and kill the tone you get a really nice deep tone that sounds relevant to a les paul when distorted. No joke! you can get pretty damn close to that sound. It has a little bit of a slash sound cause i know he did that to his pauls. Put it on the neck and kill the tone and tell me what you think. YOu be the judge......yeah just buy the guitar haha
i have the blue colored fender deluxe. I love it. I have had it for about 2 years now and have been playing for 4. One thing i have to complain about it buzz but other than that its flawless. I bust out zeppelin to guns n roses to a really nice crunchy ac/dc tone. It can play pretty much anything that should be on a gibson. And it can handle metal distortion, while still maintaining a good sound. I mean i deff wouldnt purchase the guitar to play metal on it, but it plays it just fine.
it's the standard C shaped fender neck. i'd say, on a scale of one to ten, one being mega skinny and ten being a baseball bat, it's about a 4 or 4.5. it's comfortable, don't worry. my hands are tiny as well.
to my ears anyway, it sounds pretty similar to the neck/mid combination, maybe a little brighter/sparklier. the good part of that button is the neck/bridge combination. very unique sounding, almost telecaster like =)
