By the way, the 2007 & 08 Fits have airbags on the side of the front seats. You cannot put on a seat cover without endangering yourself in the event of a crash. However, some auto parts stores such as Super Autobacs carry a seat vest, which works like a seat cover, but is open on the side, so they will not interfere with the seat airbags. That's something to consider, since most new cars are now being equipped with seat airbags in the front seats. The Fit looks great with the vest.
Wow, it looks pretty neat! More sporty and it will also have more power and better fuel efficiency and extensive safety features and more amnesties. Look out, Yaris!
I've been holding out for a Civic, had thoughts of the current Fit, . . . but with this new one coming in the fall, I may have to rethink it. Looks much better than before!
I got a Fit in June; it might look smaller than the Civic, but it's roomier inside. It's a great car, and has more for the money. A stripped Fit came with more features than a bottom line Civic DX, and sold for less money. I hope you enjoy whichever car you choose!
Thank you, Michael. I'm sure I will. At this point, I'm still leaning towards an Atomic Blue Civic LX. May wait until the 2009 are out. However, right now, my stupid 1997 Hyundai Sonata is still running well enough to not justify a new car. Lousy Korean car. }:-(
ACE Body Structure, Jimmy. Last FIT had a FIVE star rating. This one is not rated yet. Windshield is more severe- like Civic- for better visibility and less chance of winshield pops or breakage. Looks like Multi Link Suspension in the back, too. Has the CRV's Spoiler. Cool. Sunroof and Navi. Awesome.
On the first generation Fit (2007 & 2008), it came in 2 packages: Base & Sport. The base came without the spoilers and wheels; it was also $1000 less than the Sport. This new one will likely have a similar rating...the visibility in the 2007-08 Fit is very good. I have the Base version with only the carpet mats option; it came well equipped, and was less than a stripped Civic DX. The Civic DX doesn't come with AC or a radio as standard equipment. All Fits are assembled in Japan, as of 2008.
i would have bought it over the civic if it had the center console

4 star crash test rating
timppa600 3 years ago
lmao actually it gets 5 stars for front and side, in the front seat. :P
dreamchrisdream 3 years ago
And NHTSA ratings are BS. The Fit gets the IIHS highest rating of "Good" for the front offset and side impacts.

Which happens to be the highest ratings they offer :P
