Hi, is that a Timneh? I've been looking at a Timneh African Grey at the petstore, PJ's pets, and I really like her. She is very shy, but I read that Timneh's are shy until they bond to you. I also read that they are less susceptible to disease than Congo's. I was wondering how easy it is to care for him, and how easy to train they are? Thanks so much!

I've been wanting the Congo for awhile, but everyone acts as if you have to be with it forever blocking the outside world. How often should I intereact with the bird. I do have a toddler in the family; most likely will be afraid of the brid. But I will be gone for atleast 8 hours a day in the end of august; I have to go to (high) school. But i want to know how much time should be spent with the bird.

I would make sure the cage is about 3 times the size your bird needs rotate the toys constantly and keep your bird out as soon as you get home and even carry all over the house too . I spend hours n hours with kanicki a day with kanicki and I work but he also has a TV on all day too . I hope you post some videos . Just make sure you all the good n bad

@ all who decided to leave nasty comments, thanks for feeling sorry for my african grey, it is not completely my bird he is my mothers, and even she said that it looked unhealthy. As we haven't had the grey for long, we do not know about the species, we just know about our own and how to look after him. Strange that he moults that much though coz all mine does is lose a few feathers not lose as many as yours seems to. Very much appreciate the nastiness in the comments though. Made my day, Thanks

would just like to say that this is not an african grey, the main way you can tell an african grey parrot is the red feathers on his tail and he has no red feathers on his tail.

@tan90ful No Immature comeback . But KaNicki IS a African Grey but a Timneh and he has a burgandy tail and its not as bright red as the Congo . @tan90ful There are 2 types of Afrigan Grey parrots...the Congo and the Timneh. The Congo are the most popular, and are the ones with red tails. Just because you own one doesnt mean you know everything about them.

Hi there Michael Congo african greys have a super bright red tail and its pure red Timneh African Grey which KaNicki is have a maroon tail with some black n grey mixed in plus he is so young in this video his tail colors were still changing . Good Question !

Keeping a bird as a pet is not fair I find it very selfish. The bird should be out flying around your limiting an animal to the freedom it should have for your own enjoyment only, you need the bird, the bird doesnt need you, its not fair.
illeneres your welcome to your opinion. SOme feel this way about all animals even cats and dogs . but KaNicki was not hatched in the wild so he wouldnt make it out there then or now .. But at least he has an awesome home and we adore him

Hi there Michael Congo african greys have a super bright red tail and its pure red Timneh African Grey which KaNicki is have a maroon tail with some black n grey mixed in plus he is so young in this video his tail colors were still changing . Good Question !

I am captivated! If this bird were here, I would never get anything done, LOL! so fun to watch. it is ocbious it is well cared for and loved, and enjoys interacting with you.

if you paid 900 for this bird,who ever sold it must of been laughing all the way to the bank as it is a timneh grey parrot not an african grey,timneh grey parrots are 200 to 300 as babys

Maxi0978 Hmmmmm You may or may not be right on the dollar amount I have no idea ...I can tell you a Congo African Grey is double that it PA . and yes Kanicki is a timneh african grey . KaNicki was worth every penny he was hand fed ,socialized and is completley healthy and is perfect in so many ways so to me he is priceless

maxi0978: What a rotten thing to say. Number one, Timnehs are NOT 200-300. Secondly, the relationship this bird has with its person is obviously worth MUCH MORE than 900. You're not very nice at all. Think before you type.

Keeping a bird as a pet is not fair I find it very selfish. The bird should be out flying around your limiting an animal to the freedom it should have for your own enjoyment only, you need the bird, the bird doesnt need you, its not fair.

illeneres your welcome to your opinion. SOme feel this way about all animals even cats and dogs . but KaNicki was not hatched in the wild so he wouldnt make it out there then or now .. But at least he has an awesome home and we adore him

Kanicki is a cool bird! Our Congo African Gray loves to drop the F-bomb too. His favorite place to cuss people out is in the bank. He goes everywhere with us.
