Frost can take more damage, in my opinion of course and i've played both tanking specs. Unholy is only equivalent to being able to take damage like frost spec tanks when bone shield is up and that is every 1 minute and only lasts about 10-20 seconds.

yes im frost DK we take less dmg and produce more threat do to out AoE attack howling blast makes tanking 10X esier not to mention if you ise icy touch + pestilance howling blast has high crit chance it and even if it dont crit it is enough agro for the whole fight and ice fort last longer for a frost knight

i still think nothing can beat a warrior or druid at tanking, dk's might be able to tank but the ultimate tank is the warrior

You are welcome to "think" whatever you want, but math shows that at a certain avoidance/gear level Unholy/Frost tanks will become "the" best tanks out of the 4 tanking classes due to insane scaling of Bone Shield. I suggest you read some ElitistJerks.

@satanico6667 Warrs and druids practicley can't tank more than 2 mobs dk's and pallies can tank unlimited. At 1 target warrs are the best and druids are actualy worse than paladins. So I'd say 1st pallie 2nd warr 3rd dk and 4th druid.

Ive got a protection paladin, Its kinda degrading that Death Knights dont even use a shield to tank, but ah well fair play. Well done, You should have said in the description it was heroic aswell ^^ or even in the title. Would make the video more appealing to watch.

Looks awsome Dks will make good Off tanks for my druid guess blizz was right :P. Yes they do need alot of buffs to do well but they are meant to be a Offtank for a while.... just like druids had to be.

Brindlebull13, frost is mainly for pvp, unholy is the best damage for pve contents, such like naxxramas, malygos and sartharion.

All 3 trees can tank and all 3 can DPS, it just depends what you are more comfortable with. For example mine is a Blood Death Knight tank, but I put the talents in the Frost/Unholy tree for the armor/dodge etc. I have seen Unholy tanks and Frost tanks as well. I have however seen more idiots who thought they could tank and could not.

Im a full frost DK, and I dont see what people are saying about blood and unholy being better dps etc. I can 1 v 1 and beat any blood or unholy in pvp. Im frost. Deathmental

The "Best" DK Tank Spec is not actually to far into frost. You wanted the Icy Touch crits. Along with Frost Aura (Spell Resi by 86 or something) With a little in unholy and blood for a) Increased AP - Via armor. b) AoE i.e Improved Pesitlance.

i havent seen a good DK Tank thats been full frost yet. Hybrid is the way foward it seems.

your rotation will depend entirely on your spec, the size of the pull, and the amount of snap aggro you want to generate :s

The Blood Knight's tanking is based on Frost effects and self healing....although this video looks impressive, in real raids the conventional Wars, Pallies, and Droods will still be favored, many ppl forget that a sheild makes up 1/3 of a tanks armor

You do know that frost aura for dk's gives them a 60% bonus to armor right makes up for that lost shield...and oh yea thats not even including the armor bonus talents either

all trees have tanking talents/builds.

unholy and frost builds are indeed currently better than blood, but the best tanking builds put 15+ points in blood anyway.

they dont need shields and i dont think they can use them but they have tons of aoe if there atna so you could pull inst's to test it out

The comment above mine is correct. DKs (like Druids) tank without shields - they use a 2 hander with lots of stam/strength or 2 tanking one handers. They make up the armor partially via frost presence and have higher avoidance than any other tank.

Threat is not the issue. Bosses having greater parry chance per second when you are dual wielding and gibbing you is. But you get extra tanking stats from 2 1 handers. So it sorta evens out. Supposedly.

yeah, but having 2 tank 1 handers, consider the past items, i'll use pvp items for an example, duel wield 2 of the pvp weapons mayve give 30 stam per weapon, but using the 2 hander would give 60 stamina, so i'm sure blizzard will take that into consideration when making tanking 2 handers

On average no they don't. They still tend to be a little more "spiky" but then they also have a higher chance of tanking bosses and completely avoiding all but 1-2 hits before the boss dies. See the first boss in the video :D

I would consider that a relatively high dps 5 man group. So I ended up last (though not by far) with a little over 75% damage done of the first guy (a ret pally).

I don't think you could draw any accurate assumptions about class performance from a pug 5 man run. I've been in groups where I was 1st or 2nd (O.o) on dps while tanking. In raids due to buff scaling dps is much further ahead of the tanks.
