felix is definitely a Loki trickster-god archetype, that's what makes him so charming in these old shorts. We don't really have anything like him today, I got the feeling they tried to recapture him in 'Twisted Tales of Felix' but didn't quite succeed.
I mean, some people might think that this is disrespectful of the original artist who did these old felix cartoons, by adding stuff to them. But it really admits that they can't do as good anymore, so they want to try to make them acceptable to todays kids. The personality of the cat in the old ones was funny as hell, and todays artists cant seem to get personality into cartoons like the early artists could
That's how they do it in the videos I have! It reminds me of Flash animation a bit. In fact, if I had the books that they adapted in "Herbert the Timid Dragon," I could recreate the whole animation from that video using Toon Boom Studio!
2D animation is always the best. Oh some jokers think their shows are so hot just because their animation is better. It's the story and the characters that really matter. That's why hand drawn is the best.
I have the Golden Book Videos "5 Sesame Street Stories" and "Herbert the Timid Dragon and Other Tales." I've also seen "Richard Scarry's Old MacDonald's Farm," "Richard Scarry's Animal Nursery Tales," "The Poky Little Puppy's Favorite Stories," "3 Sesame Street Stories," "The Ugly Duckling and Other Treasured Tales" and "Amy Rosenberg's 3 Stories." So far I've identified 42 Associated Production Music music tracks used in those videos!
I know the Golden Book Videos (they made the Sesame Street video with "Everyone Makes Mistakes" on it) frequently dipped into the KPM/Associated Production Music library. I love trying to identify their music tracks :)
from an old VHS tape,(same on I was Talking about in the "Smooth Cookie THief" video in the comment I posted about 2 months ago.) Everyone Makes Mistakes.
Found out a few tracks heard in this cartoon...
0:00 - 1:31: Flute Reggae - Clive Hicks
1:32 - 3:26: Tin Whistle Reggae - Duncan Lamont
3:27 - 5:26: Visit to Motown - Dave Richmond

I have to admit, I love seeing these colorized silent cartoons. They often gave them some REALLY groovy music!

And I think Felix looks cute in this cartoon with the orange eyes and weird movements :P

The colorization is bad, but the cartoon is still great.

I'm not surprized that my local station passed up on these.

Wow! A silent Felix cartoon in color! It's weird seeing Felix with yellow eyes and pink mouth area, though. Do you have more?
