If meditation isnt focused on GOD alone, then it has zero point at all. we can all focus upon ourselves easily enough, meditation isnt required for that, but it can be required, if we cant see beyond ourselves. Many new aged religions/teachings instruct that we are GODS ourselves. Nothing could possibly be further than the truth. If these new aged teachings were correct then GOD (outside our world/time/understanding) would no longer have any purpose. This is, where these teachings lead.

They mean they are actually apart of the God unit. And you are right; the concept of God being outside of our universe has no purpose. Sometimes I feel like I am over-stimulated and my nerves are shot, I do think that people who carry the same burden as myself can perhaps benefit by taking some time out of their day to just lay down and focus on silent presence. You do not need to be a student of pagan mysticism to practice common sense.
I am a Bible believing Christian who has always been an avid opponent of this "New Age" eastern mysticism and meditation practices but I also suffer from anxiety, hypertension and rosacea-acne. Breathing control and taking time out of my day to sit in silence does seem to help with my anxiety for at least a little while. I do not consider these to be at all "spiritual" [as far as spiritual matters are concerned I trust in Christ Jesus], but couldn't they be healthful physically??

@ajhilger Thall shall not kill is not a statement against war in itself, it is a statement against murder, there is such as thing as "just war". Further, the killing of amorites was only in that certain situation and for a specific purpose, namely the edification of the Hebrew people from which would come the salvation of the whole world.

@ajhilger Yes "thou shall not murder" applies to the individual, not to the government which is given the power to execute under justifiable means. The authorities only murder when they execute unjustly. To suggest that God can "murder" is ridiculous, it is the Lord who gives life and he can take it away at will, that is not "murder".

@ajhilger No it is not, God assured their destruction, he just used the Hebrew people as a tool for his means. Like I said, God cannot murder, he gives life and he can take it away at will. Also this was necessary to assure that the Hebrews were not corrupted by the pagans, normally in combat they would take prisoners, food, cattle etc. but even the food and animals were corrupted by the satanic rites of the canaanites. The land needed to be cleansed completely.

Meditating on the Word of God takes more work than letting your mind float in the clouds. God never teaches us in His Holy Word to do such a thing. @2bless8 It's not really a new age teaching rather it has been perverted by the "new age" movements today. You will notice that the happiest moments in your life are when you weren't thinking, but in the moment free from anxiety and sometimes unnecessary thoughts. When you are on a roller coaster your mind is clear and you are focused on the moment at hand, but as soon as your off, the mind goes right back into the thought process. Children are free from this process, they are NOW.

The most basic form of meditation is silencing the mind to focus on ones breath in the MOMENT which is NOW. It's calms the nerves of the individual along with many benefits. @2bless8 The mind never goes "blank" as you suggested. If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart and have had that experience and transformation a demonic entity should not infiltrate. If you feel that meditation is somehow a misused conception, pray about it. Isn't it more dangerous to think negatively or foolishly than to release yourself from thoughts? When you are driving you ARE meditating, you are in the moment away from thought, especially when are making a action.

I will say however that meditation or something of the such in the traditional sense would probably be just as "harmful" as any daily activity. Astral-projection or "imaging" could pose a risk to increase the possibility of demonic activity. That reality is, without Christ anyone is in a position for demonic influence, meditation or not.
The meaning of meditation in the Bible is to be meditating on the Word of God, thinking about the Word of God. We are to be dwelling on the Word of God & be able to think about it so much that we are able to talk to God about it. That would not be a new age thinking or a modified thinking. True thinking is clear & concise & an adulterated meditation would not be the case. Children are children. Science has discovered and proven, our thoughts and consciousness influence material reality. God made us that way. God made the levels of the mind. It is natural. @IslandMystic You are taking Scriptures out of context. The Pharisees were looking for the Messiah to advance the Jewish nation. But Jesus makes it clear the Kingdom is within - He changes the hearts and lives of true believers. All true believers are united with Christ and there is no need for deeper consciousness. And we worship "in the spirit "- meaning with all our hearts. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.

If meditation isnt focused on GOD alone, then it has zero point at all. we can all focus upon ourselves easily enough, meditation isnt required for that, but it can be required, if we cant see beyond ourselves. Many new aged religions/teachings instruct that we are GODS ourselves. Nothing could possibly be further than the truth. If these new aged teachings were correct then GOD (outside our world/time/understanding) would no longer have any purpose. This is, where these teachings lead.

I am a Bible believing Christian who has always been an avid opponent of this "New Age" eastern mysticism and meditation practices but I also suffer from anxiety, hypertension and rosacea-acne. Breathing control and taking time out of my day to sit in silence does seem to help with my anxiety for at least a little while. I do not consider these to be at all "spiritual" [as far as spiritual matters are concerned I trust in Christ Jesus], but couldn't they be healthful physically??

@ajhilger No it is not, God assured their destruction, he just used the Hebrew people as a tool for his means. Like I said, God cannot murder, he gives life and he can take it away at will. Also this was necessary to assure that the Hebrews were not corrupted by the pagans, normally in combat they would take prisoners, food, cattle etc. but even the food and animals were corrupted by the satanic rites of the canaanites. The land needed to be cleansed completely.

I don't recall an exception for babies that apparently God believes are irrevocably corrupted and irretrievably evil. It is hard to imagine anything more evil than murdering defenseless children.

I will say however that meditation or something of the such in the traditional sense would probably be just as "harmful" as any daily activity. Astral-projection or "imaging" could pose a risk to increase the possibility of demonic activity. That reality is, without Christ anyone is in a position for demonic influence, meditation or not.

Science has discovered and proven, our thoughts and consciousness influence material reality. God made us that way. God made the levels of the mind. It is natural. The mystical union is not something we pursue. It just IS by definition something that exists, by the fact that you are born again. MYSTICS and MYSTICISM is a spiritual practice by which we convince ourselves we are more spiritual and progressing in sanctification. However this is an illusion just as was condemned in Colossians. No one sanctifies themselves through any outward spiritual practices. This is self righteousness.

Early Christians called this Christ Consciousness, history tells us the teachings were lost when Christianity was institutionalized, but a form was.adopted by Monks. When born again of the same baptism of the Holy Spirit as early believers (rare) it becomes natural to seek His presence within as He is within and so is the Kingdom of God.

But Jesus makes it clear the Kingdom is within - He changes the hearts and lives of true believers. All true believers are united with Christ and there is no need for deeper consciousness. @IslandMystic Take heed: It is spiritually dangerous to enter into the dark realm of mysticism. Irrefutably, meditation in the Bible refers to prayerfully reflecting on the Lord God and His statutes, laws, and commands: "But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night" (Psalm 1:2). Never does meditate refer to emptying your mind. When you empty your mind...it invites the entering in of occult spirits.

@libertyadvocate1 Final:I confirm in two's as the Scripture warns. Not all prophecy comes in meditation, some in oracles, visions, delta visions and angelic beings. I saw Japan as a result of prayer (what's next?). More Scriptures?Genesis 24:63, Luke 17:20, 21. Of course religion claims the Bible as its own, but the word, CHURCH is not found in the Bible-the word is ekklesia means a "calling out" James 1:27.The Bible letters are clearly addressed to the Spirit filled believers.as Christ's Body.

@IslandMystic Not all prophecy is of God... some prophecy is demonic as a result of entering spiritual darkness - deeper consciousness. You misinterpret Scripture: Isaac went out to meditate - pray. "I prove everything by Scripture, but I am taught by Him, and "need no man to teach me." Nowhere does Jesus or His disciples teach about different levels of meditation. And the Bible talks about 1) The Church -the universal body of true believers & 2) the organized church (sadly, corrupt today!).

@libertyadvocate1 I am fully aware of the demonic deception. This is WHY we prove everything in 2's and test the spirits as Scripture advises. The ultimate test of a true Phrophet is absence of error. ALL I have seen has come to pass as I saw it-only 2 things have not yet happened-one involves Israel and one the US. But I have no doubts that they will happen and shortly.Issac went out to "meditate" and this form is meditational devotion which includes prayer-I always begin with prayer.

@libertyadvocate1 Religions teach their own interpretation of Scripture, but the Bible was written by the Spirit and is spiritually decerned, "No Scripture is of private interpretation." "Spirtual darkness" is ONLY in the consciousness of that one practicing SIN! Demons DO NOT indwell the redeemed who have ceased trangression- the Holy Spirit does-so how can this one find evil there? Theologians, Freemasons, Gnostics, etc. claim to possess superior spiritual knowledge, like the mystic heretics of the early church. We worship God in spirit - not ritual- and in truth - true worship, not carnal worship. True Christians are temples of the Holy Ghost. A disciple said: "Lord, teach us to pray." The Holy Spirit guides true believers into ALL truth (John 16:13). Truth is found in the Light, not darkness.

As Theologin describes one practicing the WORD of GOD.Meditation with GOD as focus of such, was practiced throughout the Biblical era. It is found written in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which makes it evident that it was a known practice, and UNREFUTED by Christ who was also a MASTER or Spiritual teacher. IF considered HERESY the BIBLE would say so. So modern condemnation of it is HERESY.

@IslandMystic Amen. Well said. Even when meditiation is not focused on Jesus it has been found beneficial for us. How much more so when we meditate on Jesus and seek to commune with Him? Our minds are still when eg., we pause and listen to instruction or watch a video. If our minds are full of thoughts we don't hear much do we? So we still our minds to hear the word of God. They take Christian mysticism to be the same as OCCULT mysticism=divination, mediums, soothsaying, etc, which practices are forbidden to the Christian Mystic. I don't think they even read my posts. Maybe they don't know what the word, "Christian" means either! @terriergal I speak not from opinions of others, but from experience as a Christian Mystic. UK is noted for its Christian mystics and for centuries are held in high regard there. Little is known of us in the West, as "mystic" has become a general tern for psychics, mediums and occult practictioners. We exhibit the power of early believers in one form or another and are theologins, stictly obeying the Commands of God. Especially in areas of morality and separation from the world.

The Christian Mystic has put away the ego -self because Christ and ego can not co-exist for Christ to reign; Therefore "I am crucified to the world and the world to me" God forbid I glory except in the cross of Christ..." I began posting because I saw this video lumped evil occult practice with Christian Mysticism- this is blasphemy in itself. It is because they do not know the LIGHT which is contrary to darkness. They claim the Bible is the only revelation from God but those born of God continue to have revelations from His Spirit. Meditation is found throughout the Bible-2 types-contemplation and "conversing" which is comming in deep meditation.

The first steps which I outline in my book is to already be in Christ through His Word-no religion is necessary-in fact Babylon MOTHER of harlots persecute the Spiritual children of God, even as they did Christ. Their evil judgments condemn THEM, because they know not the Love of Christ, and condemn contrary to His Word.Inquision is one example. Sin is transgressing God's Laws. To all ignorant judges and blasphemers: How is mysticism deceitful if one is experiencing GOD? One does not find Christ through mysticism, one must first believe and PERFORM his Words in Scripture, repent and be filled with HIS Spirit. Then one is taught to meditate. I had no personal teacher but CHRIST.Meditaion is not easy-our thoughts get in the way of needed FOCUS on Christ. This is why all meditation traditions teach how to still the mind. I learned by myself to still my mind.

If you want to “experience” the real Jesus and have a meaningful relationship with Him, find out how in 1 Corinthians 15:2-4. This is the true gospel—the good news—and it’s the only one that saves.

The Fruit of salvation in Christ is the receiving of His Spirit with power-this is why the word, "Mystic" ie spiritual, was added to "Christian" as a definitive term. @marshawest17 U religious think because I have no religion, I don't know Christ. Christ is known through His Word-He is the LIVING Word. He cleanses sin with true belief and repentance.. When His sayings are obeyed He manifests Himself, and INDWELLS the believer-and empowers- the SAME experience as written throughout the NT. "He does not then send the devil to impersonate himself, as you suggest! This one has CEASED from sin and is in Mystic Union with CHRIST: ie Christian Mystic- (modern term).
