@bradbrock1 they're pretty much different versions what works on the desktop wont always work in the browser same basic idea behind the languages but not identical
@MyMadLolz Yes VBScript is a web scripting language for IE. VBScript is NOT Visual Basic a few people have already made that mistake on these tutorials.
@bradbrock1 VBScript would not work in Firefox nor Chrome it's unique to Internet Explorer you can run IE on Linux (after going through allot) and still use the VBScript because the interpreter is built in to the browser not the Windows operating system.
@Dungarth Yeah I have the VB syntax, other then that I wouldn't say it's hard especially if your using ASP.NET you have access to the .NET library (I've only used it with C# and C++) but it's a very powerful and simple library, most things you'd use VBScript for you can use C# instead if it's ASP.NET you choose the language you code in, but sense it's for a job and they said you have to learn VBScript not C# your stuck.
Its VBScript is not Visual Basic VBScript is used for web development. Visual Basic has its family VBA and VBScript maybe others in it too.
You can go to Microsofts Developer Network site and look for VBScript to get a good understanding on what it is there VBScript and VBA both have similar syntax from what I've seen but I'm not a big VB fan due to the fact it only works for Microsoft platforms or IE.
If your asking what the program is its notepad++ one of the notepads I use I found one I like more Programmers Notepad but it doesn't have a built in FTP. If your asking why it has different colors its syntax highlighting it makes it allot easier to find misspelled commands on the fly if your great with typing and spelling you really don't need it but it is always a plus to have.
JScript is Microsofts version of JavaScript or at least from what I've herd. I never had experience with JScript so you might be right but I've never used it.
I only learned the basics of VBScript I'm more of a JavaScript and PHP non Microsoft developer this was more of just helping someone out that's why I learned it. But your right there is no need to use the HTML in this tutorial, and I didn't know it could load under a vbs file? I thought it was had to be in HTML in order to run on a browser.

......One other thing just an opinion, but isn't VBSCRIPT closer to JSCRIPT than it is tp JAVASCRIPT?
Only an observation.

Couple questions..
First, Why if you are doing client side vbs why use the html and not just vbs
Dont really see a need for the html
And since it is client side why not just use .vbs or if you are inlining why not just use .wsf ??
