  • Mary Ellen this is just for you. Remember?

  • Lah- lah-lah-lah....

  • i'm 38 and have heaps and heaps of these old records on vinyl-its great

  • I was a teenager in the '50s, and I remember well when this was a big hit. Those oldies are all goodies, and I love listening to them again.

  • @Gemma8121985 Com'è vero! Allora vevo 17 anni e ci bastava poco per sognare. Questo disco mi ricorda una mia compagna di scuola che mi piaceva tanto e che non mai più rivisto.

  • my fav type of music :)

  • this was one of the "oldies" I heard on the radio that I had to have I didn't start buying 45s until 1962 when I was 12 in NY I took an express train into NY and then the subway to Bleeker Street in the village where the "House of Oldies" was later there was a second store on Bleeker and there was a record store in the subway station at 6th ave and 42nd st. they all had huge selections of "oldies" (but I think there's even more available on Youtube) I did find "That's all right Now Mama" on Sun

  • Probably my favourite all time song, and i have no idea why!

  • So glad to come across this here. Just love this song! Forever a classic masterpiece! *****

  • I have a better version of the Diamonds singing this song

  • "DJShootBoyJM" has a video with the better version in it.

  • @adpretty There may be "better" versions out there, but this is the most famous hit radio version.

  • The other version was recorded by the Diamonds shortly after this one was and the vocal quality is much better, and I have heard both on the versions on the radio.

  • i love this song! i am 12 and i fell in love this song!

  • I'm only 14 and I sure wish modern day music was as meaningful and grand as the 50's..

  • One of my all time 50s favs.... classic

  • Cute song

  • Best times of my Life!!

  • This is one of the best rock tunes ever made.

  • age don't play a role in good music

  • Hey You Tube, wonderful Mix of Music on this page, oH memories, buy the dozen

somebody must be around my age

  • When I was a kid and this was a hit song, I never saw this group perform it. I only heard it on the radio. I assumed they were a group of black singers. I was very surprised to find out after I reached adult age that this was a group of white singers. Black or white, doesn't matter to me, I still really enjoy this song.

  • @mortygwhiz That's probably because the recording is a cover (remake) version of the same song recorded by a black doo wop group called the Gladiolas. Ironically, the Gladiola's recording (found on YouTube) sounds less 'ethnic'

  • yup great music ...it won't back no moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • I love the 50s and I wish I too was born in that era. To have experienced it must have been great. Bring back the 50s music & fashion for a calmer world

  • Pretty good for four kids from the University of Toronto!

  • superschön will mehr :)

  • classic woo....

  • i was born into the wrong era really really great music

  • @jon6487 this music has stood the test of time it will last forever , they will be playing it for the next 100 years and more to cool

  • OMG.......what memories from the 60's. I am so blessed to have experienced it along with my friends from Philly.

  • @scpac1: 50s, not 60s. 8-)

  • It worked! Sounds awesome as if it was on the radio! memories! Love it!

  • Reminds me of warm summer evenings on the beach in South Devon when I was in the RAF.

  • This song just makes ya wanna get up and strut to the beat! Wonderful group and I miss those days so much!

  • "Sun Records:". Where Elvis. Johny cash. And? Only the Lonely. Began their career. Mr Orbison..,

  • You hit the mark with this one: You tube. Thank You!

  • Ahhhhhh The sweet sound of a Record, before digital ruined all of this music.

  • Great song to jive to lol. All those years ago down at the hop - thanks for taking me back!

  • This was suposedly a Diamonds satire of teenage rock music...joke was on them, as it 's now a classic rock song.

  • What a fantastic song!

No matter how many times I hear it, it still has that special something that good songs have!

  • "vwestlife" - I agree with you. This is a fun and creative song, took alot of creativity ! Thanks; and a nice job here ! The Best ... from Seattle : )

  • One of their best!!! Sounds great - thanks for putting the video on.

  • Hit

  • This came out of NJ. A spoof, but it does get me going. A slow dance with a girl. Not bad.

  • this came out in england on 78 rpm i still have it.

  • Just started collecting vinyl (LPs and 45s). Amazing sound on this, considering it's a fifty year old record.

  • I love this song!!!! I used to sing it when I was a teenager. LOL!

  • Ohhhhhhh those nights a jivin at the local palais - brings back so many memories. Thanks for this!

  • DAMN! You can't beat the sound of a record! So pure. I hate this new digital crap! BTW I'm 24.

  • yeam for sure on that my dad loves records an to be honest its so much better to listen to some oldies on viynl then on cd it sounds so much better not made to be so clear an bright you can hear a pin drop like a cd

  • I have this original record in mint condition!

  • OK, that is the dumbest little song I have ever heard and yet, it may be the best thing I ever heard. I can't explain it but man thats good.

  • hahaha so, thats good then...or bad ;)

  • interesting you should say that, as the diamonds were a jazz-orientated vocal group and they did this as a parody.

  • yea, it's bad but it's good. Quite bad in a good way, me thinks...

  • Hi , Im a 13 year old 45 collector, If you collect 45's, heres the place to go...

    45rpmrecords.proboardsDOTcom

I started a message board about 45s and want every collector to join! Post your collections! Post your wants! Post anything you want to post on 45s!

  • For forty years I've heard this song and had not realized that the singers were white until about 10 years ago when I saw them on a PBS special. Always liked the song.

  • I'm from Ontario. When I was 7 or 8, my parents had a 78 recording of this song. My mom told me that when it was first released and listeners heard the lead-in to it, they thought the guys singing it had flipped because it had such a different sound than what "staid Canadians" were used to hearing. Lucky for us!

  • The Diamonds were a group of CBC (Canadian public broadcaster) radio technicians who recorded this as a lark....and had a huge hit!

  • For rizeel ? It's still a cool song !

  • Yup for real....the original version was by a black group called the Gladiolas (but this version was a much bigger hit)

  • Maurice Williams wrote it and also Stay

  • Yup

  • To hear the original, just type "Little Darlin'-the Gladiolas" into the YouTube search

  • One of the best songs recorded, ever

  • classic, one of the songs to give birth to rock and roll, wow, brings back memories

  • needs more cowbell

  • simply the best

  • very nice

  • It truly was a great time to be young...but it didn't seem so great when I was there!

    :-)

But the music was GREAT! So were these guys!!!

  • gee u like sayin that on alot of vids huh?

  • I'm 27, and I love these classics. They sure don't make music like this anymore.

  • dude im 21 and i love it as well. I dont get it but this music is timeless. I always wondered if kids my age liked this music too.

  • They do. As long as kids like you keep it going it will never die!

  • what happened? Music on the radio suks in the 21 st century

  • Lol Im also 26 and i love this stuff, Keep on posting... Dean From Australia.

  • hay man im 16 and i loves this old classic music as well and i think if god puts us back on earth i wish i would by born in the 50's

  • @x3x900 15 and couldn't agree more

  • @x3x900 Yeah the fifties were nice. I was an adolescfent at the time!!

  • @x3x900 11 and I coudnt agree more

  • wish music like this still exsisted im only 15 though but id die to be alive back then.

  • I agree i hate this rap stuff they call music.

  • mainstream rap u mean.

    look up The Sound Providers

    Real Music

    this is great music aswell

  • Yes, it was a wonderful time to be young. However, we also had some problems, an unpopular war (some things never change)and racial divisiveness (still). Overall, I'm grateful that I can look back with fond memories of my childhood. Hopefully dear, you will too.

    Keep enjoying those oldies!

  • You can find it... on the AM dial.

  • What a HOOT! I won a copy of this from American Bandstand by sending in something (can't remember - old age!). My first 45 and the probably the one I will always cherish. Thanks so much for posting this song!!!!

  • this song was originaly written and recorded by maurice williams and the gladiolas in 1957 on the excello label.

  • I dig this song!

  • love this song!!!!

  • Sounds good to me. There must be something wrong witd me because all I listen to is the 50's and 60's..

    Mike

    Class of 67

  • absoulutely fantastic its just so funny, its great fab bless

  • Just love it. unique. Thank You.

  • fantastic.

i grew up with this music. I am now 65 YO.

My dad used to make fun of it, and say it sounded like someone banging on radiator pipes.

makes my feel so young again.

  • this song is freaking sweet. diamonds rule. and yes i am 16 and a big fan of the diamonds

  • A classic rock and roll song, one of my favorites in the 50's and even today in the 21st century!!

  • Oh man, WOW, memories!

  • well, if awesomest wasn't a word before, it is now. thx for sharing a doo-wop classic.

  • I'm 18, and I choose anything from the 90s and earlier. Mainly favoring the 50s music. Priceless. Today's music is not worthy of being called music.

  • The Gladiolas did this song first but The Diamonds version was rushed out and became the hit. The original was writen and sung by Maurice Williams who later on had a hit called Stay, later covered by The 4 Seasons.

  • Simply awesome!!! Any retro music put on YouTube makes this site better than ever... Sort of jukebox built by milions of users!

  • I love it! Five stars !

  • For what it's worth, I think the castanets in the intro sound better in this version than in any other you'll find on YouTube.

  • @vwestlife This is the best version I have found as well :)

  • @vwestlife I agree, but they should have used them also for the main melody beat, song would have been so much better.
