  • yea brother thats load to have next to u i got a xilence redwing nearly silent still does well

  • thanks for doing this man.. really helping..

  • whhy isn't your megahalems shiny? polish up that transformer symbol on there man.

  • This cooler or the Corsair H50?

  • @Rapagangsta this cooler crushes the h50 matter of fact there are a lot of tower cooler that kill an h50 i personally wouldnt recomend the h50 775+h50 your pretty good 1366+h50 you prob wont be happy and i wouldnt overclock with it

  • @Rapagangsta

This cooler. the corsair pump will go out eventually.

the only thing that can go out on this is the fans which are cheap to replace, and this looks and performs better than the h50

  • I have the Megahalems and AMD Phenom II 955. I run it at 1.25 volts with 85 F ambient room tem. My idle is 34c and 48 load with prime 95. Its 110F degrees in the summer at my place. I do sweat a lot while gaming.,,

  • ambient temps make a huge difference. im running the megahalems in push pull, and in the day when i have my windows and doors open and stuff i idle at like 15 degrees. if iv had my room closed up and the heating on, it can idle at like 30 maybe 35 if its a proper hot room.

  • it is a very nice cooler but really any cooler will get decent temps when useing old ass prime95 use intel burn test i garuantee it will stress 3x as much its a way better stress testing program not sure if it works on amd though either way its a great cooler great vid bro just subed

  • The ven x and the megahalems are pretty much the same thing. It's all about the fans you use. But I have seen the mega beat out the ven x

  • at 4ghz 191x21 @ 1.25V with my i7 930

  • I have extremely good airflow in my case. I applied the thermal paste perfectly over and over again. It has to be something else. I have 8 120MM scythe kaze 3000 RPM fans with a fan controller 2 of them are push pull on the heatsink. I was able to decrease my northbridge temps so my cores idle around 43, 45,47,50 but never go above 64

  • Your setup is alot like mine. I have a haf 932 with a msi gd70 motherboard and two 300 gb velociraptors in raid 0. I also have the z5500 speaker system and I use to have two 4890's in crossfire until I replaced it with a 5970. I'm running a 1090t at 4.1 ghz on all cores with a h50. I like your "HARD CORE" choice in air cooling with a 3000 rpm scythe fan. I'm running 13 fans in my haf 932 plus a dominator ram fan.

  • I think you did a good job on this review. If I had a cam, I would do it pretty much the same way. I'm looking at getting one of these for my Core 2 Duo E7200. Thanks for this.

  • 51C Idle and with prime 95 temps get up to 75 overclocked at 3.6ghz, shouldn't my temps be a lot better?

  • @vexun11 it depends on your ambient temps too

  • @vexun11 IDLE at 51C is definitly to high with that cooler. Whtach on your Airflow in you case.

  • I just got that same heatsink in the mail, my temps arent supposed to be this high, with my i7 930 my idle temps were around 48-52 with everything at default clock settings with hyperthreading off, I have 1 120MM corsair 4 pin fan blowing into the heatsink right next to where my ram is, then I have a 120MM thermaltake fan exhausting air out the back of my case, and a few other 80MM fans, I have the side window off and its idle pretty warm, I did overclock right now I am at 3.6 GHZ with no HT 51C

  • @vexun11 Try checking the thermal grease application.

  • i think megahalems is pronounced "mahdjelllem" ?

btw is the base flat uinlike the thermalrights?

  • That fan noise is absolutely ridiculous, get some Noctua NF-P12s.

  • god I hated my Ultra KAZE fans, I had 3 of them on my radiator and god damn were they loud and they had such an annoying click! (Every one of them!) They only good thing was the insane amount of air they could move.

You have a very similar setup to mine (kind of)

    I got a HAF 932

    Phenom II X4 965 125w

    Corsair 750TX

    XFX 5870

and i'm waiting on my new megahalems!

  • @volks1470 well they are sleeve bearings, you're supposed to position them vertically, not horizontally(:

  • take those grills off your fans that causes noice en resistance and shit

nice setup en nice review but do you like the noice damn

    and the grills are ugly

  • damn noice mate

  • This is a very nice review dude , just abt everything what I need to know before purchasing

  • No! The Noctua is not so good... and

    more expenise

  • Yep the Noctua NH-D14 :)

  • Comment removed

  • do you think there is any better air coolers than this?

  • The venomous x is

  • @beefdog88

but unfortunately it's not for AM3 and there are not any adapters :(

  • @beefdog88

Huh? Venemous X specs out the same as the TRUE.

    The Megahalems beats the TRUE.

    Advantage: Megahalems.

  • @BoogieWithStew look at some of the reviews the venemous x beats the megahalems in just about every test.

  • @beefdog88

Check out BenchmarkReviews and LegionHardware, from what I can tell, the Venomous-X performs 1 degree C cooler than the Megahalems. So I guess it's "better" temperature-wise, but both still cool well below Intel's max temp limit.

The mounting hardware on the Megahalems is AWESOME though (machined aluminum) and I'd still pick the Megahalems over the Venemous-X given the package as a whole.

    Cheers

  • @beefdog88 not aesthetics!

  • @beefdog88 rly? is venomous x better than megahalems? I ordered megahalems, should i change my order to venomous x?

  • 1:22 your voice disappeared!

  • hey tell that jet engine outside your house to power down. lol

  • yeah thats the ultra kaze for ya

  • cpu vcore?

  • whats that program you are running that tells your cpu temp and other RPM's?

  • That program is SIW by gabriel topala

  • ty, downloading now.

  • OMG i need one !! ordering :D

  • Great review. Thanks for the tips man.

  • I have this cooler, but it's brackets didn't work right and it almost killed my i7....

I am having some new mounting brackets shipped (for free) so I'm happy to see what i can expect :D

  • damn.... perhaps you should get some different fans.

  • "You are clear for take off. Over"

  • thanks for this video man.

  • i hear a vacuum! who's cleanin :P?

  • Are you hovering up?

  • Great review, gonna get this one :)

  • i dont think you can really compare a liquid cooler and an air cooler, although that is good to know, i might buy one of those; going to make an i7 build.

    Cheers

  • urs is w/c.. this is air cooled.. u cant compare it regardless of price similarity.. u idiot

  • actually i can. my corsair h50. is not really water coolering. it is targeted to compete with high end ari cooling. and the megahelm is right up its alley :P

  • urs is WATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.. LOL! it has a RADIATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. megahalem is just a heatsink!!

  • not really.

  • LLLOUD

  • PS: Loved the video also the small details like deactivating the load-test-thingy and you could see the temps drop instantly. Also HD, what's not to like? :P

  • Is your computer overclocked to the absolute extreme? If it isn't it's WAY WAY to loud... Doesn't that piss you off?

One question: After you mount the backplate with the "first" 4 screws, is it normal that it's not absolutely fixed but a tiny bit wobbly? I tried mounting it everywich way, but I suppose it's for a better fit once you screw in the CPU?

  • I cannot seem to get the same load temps with my Megahalems. How are you applying your thermal paste?

  • 2 short lines in the middle of the cpu

  • make a diagonal cross with the paste and add another drop in the middle... best coverage without airbubbles...

    How did you do it?

  • I also have an Antec 900 and I have the Megahalems on order. I was wondering if you think there is enough room for a 120 mm fan on the side of the case?

    Thanks

  • For the Antec 900, I heard you have to take the side fan out or cut off the small plastic corner of the side fan to fit the Megahalems and side panel.

  • Thanks for the response. I'm planning on getting the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P which has an 8+2 power phase; will this guarantee better overclocking stability compared to the 5 phase of the MSI GD70?

  • well more phases dont guarantee anything as the gd70 is in the same league as the ud5p. All more phases come in handy for is l2n runs where more voltage is needed

  • Thanks for the response. I'm planning on getting the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P which has an 8+2 power phase; will this guarantee better overclocking stability compared to the 5 phase of the MSI GD70?

  • Hi, can you comment on how stable the overclocked cpu is? Would you think it's a good idea to run it 12+ hours a day, or maybe even 24/7? I'm planning to get the same cpu/heatsink combo

  • 12 hours isnt a good idea on amd motherboards because ther power phasing is really small and you risk the chance of blowin out your motherboard. I ran P95 on this overclock for 4 hours just fine

  • AKA Megatron! thats what we call it!!

  • Awesome temps!

  • Is it true that ATi goes better with AMD, and nVidia goes better with Intel? I know ATi is a part of AMD. And great video 5/5*!

  • Nope it's not true, they all work great together.

  • Ok, But I think I will get a ATi - AMD PC anyways, because of the price and the 4890's.

  • Absolutely.

  • Great review :)

  • Great keep it coming

  • WOW Nice PC Nice CPU Nice Videocards and Nice Cooler . Freakin loud fans but the New AMD Phenom 2 Dragon CPU need an Real Monster Cooling :) Great Job . Nice Video 5 Stars Voted :)

  • nice temps man

  • 5/5

  • Freakin loud fans man.

Good cooler though, on par with my watercooling.

  • Awesome cool man.

  • I'm sitting at 25c idle and 44c load with the V10 Cooler Master on stock X4 955.

  • What's the program your using to view the temps of your CPU?

  • Hardware monitor

  • nice..

question: your fan covers (the chrome ones), how do do mount it on the fan, do i just have to mount the srwes in the holes that are on the fan or do you need to mount something behind it?

    appriciate answer.. ty

  • holes on the fan

  • I just buy screws with them and screw it into the fan

  • DAMN those are really good temps.
