@Rapagangsta this cooler crushes the h50 matter of fact there are a lot of tower cooler that kill an h50 i personally wouldnt recomend the h50 775+h50 your pretty good 1366+h50 you prob wont be happy and i wouldnt overclock with it
I have the Megahalems and AMD Phenom II 955. I run it at 1.25 volts with 85 F ambient room tem. My idle is 34c and 48 load with prime 95. Its 110F degrees in the summer at my place. I do sweat a lot while gaming.,,
ambient temps make a huge difference. im running the megahalems in push pull, and in the day when i have my windows and doors open and stuff i idle at like 15 degrees. if iv had my room closed up and the heating on, it can idle at like 30 maybe 35 if its a proper hot room.
it is a very nice cooler but really any cooler will get decent temps when useing old ass prime95 use intel burn test i garuantee it will stress 3x as much its a way better stress testing program not sure if it works on amd though either way its a great cooler great vid bro just subed
I have extremely good airflow in my case. I applied the thermal paste perfectly over and over again. It has to be something else. I have 8 120MM scythe kaze 3000 RPM fans with a fan controller 2 of them are push pull on the heatsink. I was able to decrease my northbridge temps so my cores idle around 43, 45,47,50 but never go above 64
Your setup is alot like mine. I have a haf 932 with a msi gd70 motherboard and two 300 gb velociraptors in raid 0. I also have the z5500 speaker system and I use to have two 4890's in crossfire until I replaced it with a 5970. I'm running a 1090t at 4.1 ghz on all cores with a h50. I like your "HARD CORE" choice in air cooling with a 3000 rpm scythe fan. I'm running 13 fans in my haf 932 plus a dominator ram fan.
I think you did a good job on this review. If I had a cam, I would do it pretty much the same way. I'm looking at getting one of these for my Core 2 Duo E7200. Thanks for this.
I just got that same heatsink in the mail, my temps arent supposed to be this high, with my i7 930 my idle temps were around 48-52 with everything at default clock settings with hyperthreading off, I have 1 120MM corsair 4 pin fan blowing into the heatsink right next to where my ram is, then I have a 120MM thermaltake fan exhausting air out the back of my case, and a few other 80MM fans, I have the side window off and its idle pretty warm, I did overclock right now I am at 3.6 GHZ with no HT 51C
god I hated my Ultra KAZE fans, I had 3 of them on my radiator and god damn were they loud and they had such an annoying click! (Every one of them!) They only good thing was the insane amount of air they could move.
Check out BenchmarkReviews and LegionHardware, from what I can tell, the Venomous-X performs 1 degree C cooler than the Megahalems. So I guess it's "better" temperature-wise, but both still cool well below Intel's max temp limit.
The mounting hardware on the Megahalems is AWESOME though (machined aluminum) and I'd still pick the Megahalems over the Venemous-X given the package as a whole.
i dont think you can really compare a liquid cooler and an air cooler, although that is good to know, i might buy one of those; going to make an i7 build.
actually i can. my corsair h50. is not really water coolering. it is targeted to compete with high end ari cooling. and the megahelm is right up its alley :P
PS: Loved the video also the small details like deactivating the load-test-thingy and you could see the temps drop instantly. Also HD, what's not to like? :P
Is your computer overclocked to the absolute extreme? If it isn't it's WAY WAY to loud... Doesn't that piss you off?
One question: After you mount the backplate with the "first" 4 screws, is it normal that it's not absolutely fixed but a tiny bit wobbly? I tried mounting it everywich way, but I suppose it's for a better fit once you screw in the CPU?
I also have an Antec 900 and I have the Megahalems on order. I was wondering if you think there is enough room for a 120 mm fan on the side of the case?
For the Antec 900, I heard you have to take the side fan out or cut off the small plastic corner of the side fan to fit the Megahalems and side panel.
Thanks for the response. I'm planning on getting the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P which has an 8+2 power phase; will this guarantee better overclocking stability compared to the 5 phase of the MSI GD70?
well more phases dont guarantee anything as the gd70 is in the same league as the ud5p. All more phases come in handy for is l2n runs where more voltage is needed
Thanks for the response. I'm planning on getting the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P which has an 8+2 power phase; will this guarantee better overclocking stability compared to the 5 phase of the MSI GD70?
Hi, can you comment on how stable the overclocked cpu is? Would you think it's a good idea to run it 12+ hours a day, or maybe even 24/7? I'm planning to get the same cpu/heatsink combo
12 hours isnt a good idea on amd motherboards because ther power phasing is really small and you risk the chance of blowin out your motherboard. I ran P95 on this overclock for 4 hours just fine
WOW Nice PC Nice CPU Nice Videocards and Nice Cooler . Freakin loud fans but the New AMD Phenom 2 Dragon CPU need an Real Monster Cooling :) Great Job . Nice Video 5 Stars Voted :)

This cooler. the corsair pump will go out eventually.
the only thing that can go out on this is the fans which are cheap to replace, and this looks and performs better than the h50

I cannot seem to get the same load temps with my Megahalems. How are you applying your thermal paste?
phrentik 2 years ago
2 short lines in the middle of the cpu

make a diagonal cross with the paste and add another drop in the middle... best coverage without airbubbles...
How did you do it?
