The cams to big. You can hear it coming back through the carb. You got to much dur. in the cam for that engine. tha'st one reason it's slow about riving up.
@kennethrobinson11231 Im not trying to sound like a know it all, so please dont take this the rong way. I dont think the cam is too much, i think the carb is too small, there is a min comp ratio to run with a cam, if he is running 10:1, a cam of that size might need that ratio as the min. there is a way to find this out, wich im sure you already know.........
@peacemaker50cal He might not have the timing adavnced enough either. I dont know, it sounds pretty good to me, like i siad, im not trying to prove you rong or be rude, i know alot of people take things the wrong way and start running there mouths, i dont wish to do that!
@kennethrobinson11231 That formula is you take the cubic inch of the engine "496" and times that by the total RPM range of the cam, lets just say its 6800. The number you should have come up with is 337280, then you take that number and devide it by 3456, and that should give you a total number of 975cfm. he should have a min of a 975cfm carb, wich i never seen so i would go with a demon 1000cfm. This method works great for drag racing, im sure its different for dtreet cars!
@peacemaker50cal Formula don't always work out. that cam needs to run about 8000 RPM. It want even start to come on untill about 6000. That cam needs no less than 11;0to 1 and to really make it work it needs 12;5 to 1. everybody wants to over cam. If you're only drag racing and want to tear it down every 3000 miles or less, then ok.
@kennethrobinson11231 I used to have a 400 small block with a comp cams xtremem energy cam, it should have had around a 750 cfm carb according to the method, but all i had at the time was a 500cfm. It seemed like an eternity for that bitch to rev, but when i put the right carb on, it was like a street bike. the throttle responce was crazy, the second i snaped that throttle, it was almost red lined. It makes all the differance.
Jeeeesuz.. I'll call it the "sandman" because that thing is the ultimate sleeper! Is that a conversion from an original sports coupe 6-banger? I dont see badges or able to read the MPH on the dash.. I hope you're out there slaughtering mustangs!!!!

Sounds awesome! What size cam in it?
I have a '94Z28 with a little 355 LT1 in it, vortech blower, about 600 horse, really streetable, never breaks down, just keeps on running.
These cars are hard to work on due to the slope of the windshield...
I got a '70 stingray, working on a 540 motor right now.
