Well, people are strange like that - I don't get why people worship Vortex. Just listen to that part starting 02:32. Doesn't really sound that grandiose without all the effects and processing, does it now? :) People should give praise to the sound technicians instead of Vortex's supposedly great vocals. Was this just an accident? Was he on crack or something? Does anyone know a clean take of Vortex's vocals (that is, without all the processing) that doesn't this mediocre?

@Ameretat010 first, to be honest, I don't like the studio versions of Vortex.. Its to layered and proceed,

Second, you can judge him by that 3 second clip.. I mean.. It could be the first take he ever did on that song, he could be warming up.. All great musicians makes mistakes or make their work lesser great from time to time.. Third effects or not, NO ONE has a voice like Vortex, he is simple unique. And forth.. Listen to him live.. Is outstanding.

While listening to him live might seem like the obvious way to go, but live concerts don't qualify, because auto-tuners work just as well live as in the studio, so do smart-harmonizers. In other words, if you listen to his "live" vocals closely, I feel the same layers and processing of the studio version. I don't want to judge him just by a few seconds of mediocre vocals, but that's the only unprocessed take I've got, the only one without any effects on it. Got any other?

@Ameretat010 The live versions are really really different from the studio versions. His voice has a total different pitch and tone. Vortex is a great singer.. Nothing less.. Most great singers sound worse without tons of effects. But if that isn't proof enough just listen to all the other work he has done outside of Dimmu Borgir.. Borknager and Arcturus. That is so much more raw and the live versions of him really shows his great vocal work.
