  • i would love to fish the woolpack and all the other lakes you fish im keen on fishing but my biggest is only something like 14 on day ticket waters i google them and nothing not even how to get there can you link me or google maps or something .

  • @UKxPyro Goggle "the woolpack lake" mate you will come up with the link to my page else

go to my website (thecarpcatcher) and look under the archives link for the woolpack

the link for website is on my main page here on youtube

  • @TheCarpCatcher are all of those lakes private ? can i fish them just turn up and pay ?

  • @UKxPyro no you have to get a ticket in advance from the shop in godmanchester

  • another very good blog i seem to be going back in time from your new ones to your 2 year old blogs...all blogs top mate 5*

  • Im not sure that i have got the rig right though...... would you mind telling me what things you will need.e.g braid, hooks and beeds. thanks alot your a big help.

  • just type chod rig in the search bar

  • I have recently been making some chod rigs, but have not put them to the test....

    are they effective?

  • i use them alot and they work well over weed, silt (chod)

  • I love your blogs there quality! I have checked out all your other vids too... top notch. I am also a big fan of carp fishing. What is the best rig to use when trying to catch big fish on a day session?

  • there is no best rig mate but keep it simple and you will do all right.

    i use 9inches of IQ and size 6 D-Ceptors

  • why is it when i make dough baitsand use them it scares the carp away?

  • i have no idea mate.

  • hi there mate

i was just wondering what you think about how much you need to spod in say the warmer summer months, i fish at a moderately hard water in somerset where the fish are up in the water in the summer, do you reckon there is much point spodding over a popped up bait or weather a Pva would do the trick, thanks ever so much, i look forward to hearing from you

    James

  • 2 bleeps better then none

  • Definetly, I must agree, a good point.

At the time I was experimenting with chods and bottom baits.

Giving the fish plenty of slack and also long hairs of 2-3 inches so i would get to see an awful lot of pickups that a 2oz semi-fixed would not show.

It's all good stuff to learn and I still am learning.

    Of course.

  • Going france for a week on a carp lake (Obviously lol).. How much bait would be your suggestion mate for a week there? Its been said the lake im fishing is a bait up lake, the fish like a nice baiting so to speak. Im buying the bait there but cant guess how much id need (Kgs). Still woftin through ya posts and vids as usual :o)

  • Well i would rely on local knowledge tbh

However ince you put bait in you cannot take it out again so why not take 15kg of hemp?

you can boil up pints of it on the bank really easy and carp love it!

If your buying bait when you get there then how about getting a few kg's and feeding little and often?

The carp will most likly be comming through your swim a lot (unless its cassien! ect..) so little and often would most likly mean that you will always have a few baits around.

  • i hear you on the little and often, ive never been a fan of this massive bed lark so i think ill opt for a few kgs and little and often. Its packed with carp between 30- 40 and the 30s are *suppose* to be ready and not easy as such but definatly on the cards for most, looking forward to a dozen odd30s and maybe a few 40s. Im going to try for the 60 as no one has had it but i dont fancy me chances on the lake size & there only being one 60. Ill let ya know how i get on & post you pics & vids :o)

  • Depending on the size of the lake it might be to cold for loads of bait but my experience is that if the carp are there then they will scoff it at this time of year, as its still quite mild (here anyway).

Ask anglers there how there getting on?

    Best advice?

Take it easy fot the first 24 hours and feed little and often. Then if they start scoffing...well get your spod or boat out fella!

Best of luck and let me know how you get on.

  • Thanks for ya help now and in the past :O) im learning and learning and happy to say im quite getting into this carp lark lol :o) its like science some of what im trying now but its fun! ive scrapped all my leadcore leaders now as to be honest unless the beds flat, they are shit and dont do what they suggest in my opinion as they are so stiff, ive opted for another of your tips on that note. Anyway matey im going for some grub so ill catch you later \o. thanks again bud.
