danger3s advice about keeping the highs and lows down and pushing the mid is correct. If you try to dial it like a marshall (or any amp really) it's just all harsh thin highs. The EQ on this pedal is fk'd up.If you took an EQ it would be like running the 1.6 and 3.2 kHz controls all the way up!!
HIGH control off to 11'oclock.
MID control at least 12 o'clock then higher to taste
BASS 1'oclock or less is good.
Change 1 or both tubes such as 12AX7+12AY7 or 2x12AT7

It sounds to shrill on the high end, I'm selling it and getting an MI Audio Crunch Box. It's way cheaper, and covers a wider variety of tones, from a JTM45 to a JCM800.I really recommend it.

Yes it is. I have a 12ay7 in the 1st stage, and a 12ax7 in the second stage. This makes the pedal sounds like a 70's cranked Marshall, just around a JCM800. If you put in 2 12ax7 tubes, this pedal will sound like great and Marshall sounding. I would get this if you love Iron Maiden.
been there once. after a while i decided to give it another try, a few knob turns & massive noise polluting, the pedal instantly became my top favorite. i was so excited i even recorded & uploaded this video to youtube LOL
I play strats and single coil guitars,a nd at bedroom volumes, this pedal sounds very shrill and treble, for example- when I slide between frets there is an awful shrill squeal, but if I turn the treble down, the notes have less top end, but the shrill squeal remains. Idk I think I'm gonna sell it. Nice playing btw.
this may be a stupid question, but how do you remove the original guitar track so you can jam along on your own? Thats great. Is it some simple music software?
Will your guitar sound as good? Obviously not, so no, the pedal wont sound near as good. Solid state is really rubbish compared to a high volume valve amp
In reply to tragictravistie....dude.... Not being nasty or anything but are you really sugesting that a decent amp sounds great at low volumes? All the great tones come from working the amp and speakers ..hard (fact)! Guess you missed the point of using a pedal for your overdrive. Look into this.. How many of your favourite albums have marshalls used in them?.... and then say you don't think the're decent amps?
hey man thanks for the comment! fuzzy not as fuzzy pedal but more on the gainy fuzzy if you know what i mean. Probably more distinct if you boost the mid & treb and play on the neck. Sweet tone if you love that kinda thing but I'd prefer some bites here & there from bridge pickup
i play it with a strat, english eq setting, you know, all knobs to 5 o'clock, but gain only at 9 o'clock. that's just a perfect setting for that pedal, sometimes i turn down the bass a little bit (3 o'clock), sounds even more biting. just a great pedal, and the sound you get from it is worth far more than the actual price.
now guys try not complaining about this pedal and start getting a better amp like this dude..
a 12W pratice amp isn't gonna get you anywhere!

Wow, great tone out of a JCM 2000!
The 2000 sounds really modern, but that Muff'n really made it sound aged. In a very good way.

is that pedal good for iron maiden tone?
glmetal 4 years ago
ehm then youd better go for the boss ds 1 a more distortion pedal this is more for blues
like out the year 60 but you alawys can try it out in a music store.. xD
rchp24 4 years ago
not a ds1 get a tubescreamer or bad monkey or somthing
aznfirex 4 years ago
ehm a bad monkey okey but a tube screamer for iron maiden that's like metal not blues.
rchp24 4 years ago
he asked for an iron maiden tone. so a TS is fine..?
aznfirex 4 years ago
dunno i think the ds 1 is better
or the metal core the tube screamer is more blues..

Well, can't say that it would through a transistor based amp. But it sings through my '72 Twin Reverb.

i doubt it, i dont think marshalls sound great at low volumes like this. spend your money on a decent amp
