4.) There were no black combat units in the confederat army. Robert E Lee was almost sacked for suggesting that blacks be armed and allowed to fight. And there sure as hell weren't any black officers and don't even try to pretend there wasn't segregation in the confederate army. Indians were allowed to fight alongside the confederates but they weren't in the army, there's a difference. As for the jews, well there was a glass ceiling and everyone knew it.

The importation of new slaves into the south was already illegal under federal law and international treaties and enforced by the UNION navy. There is a reason why no blacks are praising the south for this.

99% of the time, addtional legislation is added to the original Bill. most of the time to sneak other laws that wouldnt pass on their own through the process. Civil rights is a great label to use. The thinking is no one will vote against the bill b/c its a 'civil rights' bill and no politician wants it to be said they are against civil rights.

I have read the civil rights act. It means that blacks and nonwhites in general, are not preamble citizens. Their right to vote is dependent on the episodic acts of congress and not the power of the constitution.
