I was lucky enough to see this show; it was definitely one of the few good things to come out of that earthquake that wiped out my house and half my town. The other good thing was the Crosby/Stills/Nash show at the Catalyst that was also a quake benfit. Good memories from a horrible time.
David Hidalgo in my opinion is the most underrated great guitarist. When people make their lists his name is almost never mentioned. It can certainly be argued that he deserves to be right up there with Carlos and Jerry and Jimi and Clapton.
@jhilly75 no disrespect to DH bu, how do get that? you havent even mentioned stevie ray vaughn, robert cray, gatemouth brown, even roy clark kicks his ass, so explain how DH even pops up on the radar?
What a line up, those guys really know how to jamm.Los Lobos, Santana bros,Walfredo Reyes, Armando Peraza and the rest wow, what a way to make music.Who wouldn't want to jamm with them musicians.
wow thsnk you andy so much for sharing this with us these are very rare to me im a long time santana fan and ive never seen these before thank you andy peace and compassion

I remember that quake. Lots of people from all over the San Joaquin Valley tried to get to that benifit but the venue was too small.

I guess thats what happens when you are a ground bracking world renowned star.
On the other hand the drum solo was off the charts....imagine how hard it was for that cat to stop!

If you listen to Los Lobos play Chuco's Cumbia, you can actually hear Carlos' influence in how they play.
R3dp055um 2 years ago
where is the influence? Los Lobos are mostly grounded into blues whereas Carlos freestyled alot of his stuff....so , where's the influence

This just proves my point dave and cesar are freakin' outraegous . Oh yeah carlos can play too.

Hidalgo's guitar solo was actually a heckuva lot better than Santana's. And that was the most amazing drum solo I have ever seen.

Amazing guitar soloing by David Hidalgo. Reminds me a bit of Neal Schon's guitar playing.
