regarding Seong Hee Kim's fights however, most of them were fought in Neofight. The new fighting org. at korea. They are still new to the mma world started like what 2003-04? As comparison to UFC 15years. If you look at his china mma records, he holds 0 wins. Any unaccounted fights, I wouldn't consider them in the record.
Seong Hee Kim is 159 lb rounded, and not even 5'8. They call him "rou dao lao jiang" Judo veteran, as well as "40 rounds of international mma experience". I fought 12 recorded matches in San Jose cali, and I am still a newbie. Two of my friends fought more than 60 recorded matches in SJ, and they are still no where as good. But you see, if you rumble against newbs and win, then fight experienced fighters and loose, you can fight 100 rounds and I'll still consider that inexperienced.
On the other hand, you have ppz like cung le. He fought no more than 30 mma fights, all which he won. He has competed full contact karate which he won most of them, as well as the Chinese international San Shou championship and defeated Na Shun. At the time, Na was like a San Shou god in Chinese kickboxing. Cung is one of my hero, and a local legend. Judging a person's experience by how many mma matches he or she fought is not as pracatical as how many wins that person has+overall record.
According to Cung Le's own website, he's had 17 PRO Kickboxing Fights and only 5 MMA fights. A person's experience is judged by how many years he's had in the subject and what he's seen and been through... not by how many wins he has... what if he only fought 5 times?

@Fernt from what i know of Shaolin, they do forms a lot, and little fighting. They "know" the application but aren't really fighters. The few in Shaolin who fight are the Sanda team, who only do Sanda (by the rules). Which means no grappling. Again, this is the information i've digested through reading "American Shaolin" "shaolin kung fu" and other books.... I'm sure there's still some legit shaolin somewhere in the world tho!.... sigh....

i am surprised that china would allow such a brutal sport to be televised given how strict they're on censorship of various things. Chinese traditionally have high moral values and they don't want their kids to be expose to anything negative (such as fighting or pornography). Martial arts are practiced only for self defense, discipline, and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. That said, I am for MMA, and hope to see it succeed in China.

not only are they blatantly biased toward the chinese fighter, they don't know jack shit about MMA and couldn't explain what was happening at all. all they could say was 'good,' 'nice!' and useless stuff like that.

It is the same EVERYWHERE, be it K1, PRIDE, UFC, etc. The Korean crowd at K1 Seoul is even more supportive to the Korean fighters, even though they are doing badly! The home crowd ALWAYS support fighters fighting out from their hometown. This Mongol fighter is fighting out from Beijing and of course the home crowd support him!

However, the list you described below are ufc fighter's notable wins with a triangle hold who started from a butterfly guard etc.

j124life, the GUARD position refers to anytime when a fighter is on his back and is using his legs as a shield to prevent his opponent from "passing" to side control or mount. The Triangle Choke can be set up from closed guard, butterfly guard, and open guard. The Korean fighter had 40 MMA fights. I would hardly call him inexperienced.

regarding Seong Hee Kim's fights however, most of them were fought in Neofight. The new fighting org. at korea. They are still new to the mma world started like what 2003-04? As comparison to UFC 15years. If you look at his china mma records, he holds 0 wins. Any unaccounted fights, I wouldn't consider them in the record.

Seong Hee Kim is 159 lb rounded, and not even 5'8. They call him "rou dao lao jiang" Judo veteran, as well as "40 rounds of international mma experience". I fought 12 recorded matches in San Jose cali, and I am still a newbie. Two of my friends fought more than 60 recorded matches in SJ, and they are still no where as good. But you see, if you rumble against newbs and win, then fight experienced fighters and loose, you can fight 100 rounds and I'll still consider that inexperienced.

On the other hand, you have ppz like cung le. He fought no more than 30 mma fights, all which he won. He has competed full contact karate which he won most of them, as well as the Chinese international San Shou championship and defeated Na Shun. At the time, Na was like a San Shou god in Chinese kickboxing. Cung is one of my hero, and a local legend. Judging a person's experience by how many mma matches he or she fought is not as pracatical as how many wins that person has+overall record.

According to Cung Le's own website, he's had 17 PRO Kickboxing Fights and only 5 MMA fights. A person's experience is judged by how many years he's had in the subject and what he's seen and been through... not by how many wins he has... what if he only fought 5 times?

You can't triangle a guy when you have him in butterfly guard, when both your hooks are stuck underneath him. Triangle is best used from closed guard or open guard.

Someone told me if I watched art of war I could see shaolin monks getting their asses kicked.
I'd really like to know where I can see that, or if anyone knows the names of some of the shaolins competing in art of war.

@Fernt from what i know of Shaolin, they do forms a lot, and little fighting. They "know" the application but aren't really fighters. The few in Shaolin who fight are the Sanda team, who only do Sanda (by the rules). Which means no grappling. Again, this is the information i've digested through reading "American Shaolin" "shaolin kung fu" and other books.... I'm sure there's still some legit shaolin somewhere in the world tho!.... sigh....
