Don't waste time with Simon Lau, he is a fake (not bad basics but the rest is pure theatre). Best to train other sifus mentioned in the thread - they are by far better and honest. He hides behind his poorly spoken english, as an excuse to cover up the rubbish he talks about (hmmm...philosophy???). After broadcast of this BBC programme, Lau was challenged by many, and he was a coward! He always like to talk about fuc...ing someone over but crapped himself instead.
In my opinion, a seasoned Wing Chun veteran of many years training who has also studied Jujitsu extensively for at least some years, giving the fighter excellent ground & grappling skills as well as stand-up, would make a greater MMA fighter (mixed martial arts).
As it stands the typical MMA fighter will learn Muay Thai for stand-up and Jujitsu for ground. I think Wing Chun is more effective for striking.
Simon Lau has a school in London SW7. He does not teach the beginner classes himself but is available for private lessons and sometimes advanced group sessions.
There are other Wing Chun Sifus in London who have better reputations however.
History is made again, as for yet another time Wing Chun is seen in London! Sifu Lau knew Lee Shing, and even respected teachers like James Sinclair and Tony Marsh are in this clip! Note: no 'logo' on the 1st Form and missing left hand set1. The eighties were a Superb time
The guy in the beginning simon lau fought, haha looked like the man from Top gear hahah
