tis awesome. i do LOOOOOOVE Mekons! Check out "Cowboy Sally's Twilight Laments" and "Curse of The Mekons", Waco Bros (a little bit country, a little bit psychonaut).. the list goes on.
When I first heard this song, it was on 120 Minutes in 1993. I was 10. I've been looking for it for 12 years. A buddy of mine tonight told me the band was 'The Mekons'. I had to search for almost ten minutes to find this video. THANKS!
All I had remembered of the song was "Stretch out my bones" - he knew immediately who it was.
This really is one of the truly great alternative songs of all-time. Y'know - before the hipsters got to it. Now it's just "Indie" and it sucks.
They won't let me embed this, so I can't make it the Stolen Tuesday Morning Pony track, but I still wanted you to hear it. I sat next to a woman on a plane last night who had an English accent and looked a little like Sally Timms.
This song is a fine critique of "love" and an examination of love (archaic and modern), the market and concrete truth, as is, for all to see and hear, obvious and self-evident.
I'm the biggest Mekons fan west of the Mississippi. I have every cd of theirs, and all of their many side projects. Their live shows are almost always great. God bless the Mekons.
Top hats, rockets, and Sally Timms! Genius!!!

Mekons have had the same "ever shifting line up" since the mid eighties. Jon, Tom, Lu, Susie, Steve, Sarah, Eric and Sally.

Another great song by the most Underrated band in history. Check out their cd
"Journey to the End of the Night" with the great songs 'Cast no Shadows' and
'Ordinary Niight' and 'Tina' and the magnificent 'Last Night on Earth'.
