  • To pare down her answer, because I feel like it didn't dance around the question but it used a lot of time to get to its point: she thinks societies that breed instability through unequal rights for citizens (women) also breed instability with regards to political and potentially violent action? I'm not sure I completely grasped it.

  • That war mongering cunt is a lair and a traitor, obviously she doesn't like cock unless its silicone rubber and two foot long.

  • Womentry Advice is a service for women to help them with the difficulties they face in life. Whether it is stress from school, work, relationships or loss, Womentry Advice is here to lend an ear and give advice on how to tackle your issues.

  • I thought Mrs Clinton joined the Marines ever since Don't Ask, Don't Tell was repealed.

  • ...U.S. foreign policy that forcibly and very visibly through outright war, violates the territorial sovereignty of certain other nations or through other -more subtle- means, attempt regime change and thus violate other peoples and other nations the right to self determination...this violation exercised against them, understandably breeds resentment and hostility against the offending US violation against their fundamental right to self determination within their sovereign territory

  • ...I think that it is clearly the case that it is religious extremism that is repeatedly found in recent years and going back further to earlier times that is part of the explanation for the troubles we see today in these particular countries in the religious extremist part of their population. Another main reason for terror group that spring up in these countries, is a response to an aggressive and militaristic U.S. Co

  • ...could it be that there is a certain religion or religions; who's leaders use the credibility of a religion to gain an audience among the people of those countries and the pervert and twist in their teachings religion and scripture that was otherwise peaceful and good, to a perverted and twisted and warped call for hatred and violence

  • ...impression that I get from her words is that men that do no have the opportunity for marriage or societies that have a lower percentage of women in the population are funamentally and even dangerously unstable and I find this a blatant feminist insult to men

  • The undertone and I

  • Mainstream corrupt politicians... gotta love em. Bastards.

  • china's situation maybe different from india~~~chinese girls have the certainly the equal rights as boys, and there are even more girls than boys in the top university.

  • Hillary is god's gift take it.

  • @ThePedrosanta I'd like to return the gift back and get store credit, please.

  • The one thing I admire about Hillary, is she is always very calm and very intelligent. Unlike some US politicians that we have seen in the past, lol your great george

  • Where are other parts of the interview? I would like to blog also about her answers on the issue of abortion.

  • Hillary Clinton last heard from you was ... Are you still ALIVE?

  • A really great interview, George.

  • If there's such a discrepancy between men and women in those regions, that's all the more reason for the extra men that can't find a woman to start taking care of each other.......if you know what I mean!

  • Way to go George ... good interview.

  • Remember when George hosted that punk show on much music?

    Look at him now!

  • @breakaway07 nothings punk on much music :P

  • punk rock show* back in the day (1999/2000)

  • The U.S. got themselves into this, let them get themselves out of this on their own. What a waste of a nation the USA is. Canada let's get out of Afghanistan and try to make the world a better place instead of helping the States. The reason the taliban attacked the U.S. is for the many years of hell that the U.S. has put the middle east and Asia through. Let the idiot Americans deal with it on their own. We don't need the Americans for anything, let's get out!

  • Who does she think she is??? She comes for a day and tells Canada that we should adopt all that she wants?? I don't think so..LOL and she was pissed when Our Prime Misinster told her...HELL NO OUR TROOPS ARE COMING HOME IN 2011...FIGHT THE WAR YOURSELF...GEORGE YOU SHOUD HAVE TOLD HER OFF!!!

  • I rarely ever hate anyone, but I can't stand Hillary..here she pretends to be interested in human rights, while meanwhile trying to convince Harper to extend our military aid to BS wars abroad!

  • great insight. they're both incredibly well spoken individuals

  • Why can't we get interviews like this in the U.S. on the real news? If Hillary spoke like this about women here in the U.S., the radical christian conservatives would shit a brick and claim that she's the anti-christ and that armageddon is right around the corner.... I'm a man, by the way.

  • The CBC is good at not being one sided in political views, that is one of the reasons that their interviews are great.

  • George is an NDP guy, the reason it's hard to tell is that he's very objective in his interviews.

  • I agree. Most of the Canadian networks are.

  • They should have had "Sharped Dressed Man" by ZZ Top playing in the backround for Mr/Mrs.Clinton. This is a good vid, just a couple of guys shootin the shit about Afganistan.

  • George is awesome, and he is TheHour!

  • All great points from Clinton.

  • I see that promoting the Afghan war as some kind of feminist endeavor is the new talking point out of the Pentagon. I guess they think they can dupe liberal progressives into supporting this neo-colonial occupation. Hate this imperial, zionist bitch.

  • You missed the point. She is saying that where you see extremism in the world it follows you see women treated as 2nd class citizens.

She makes the correlation to show that the connection between the two are a great place to start in terms of addressing extremism - in other words - promoting as best we can that there is equality between the sexes may ( stress may) reduce extremism.

  • @wardnikoff i think that it isn't the lack of respect for women that causes the extremism - it is the inherently backwards culture that leads to their poor treatment. I know, chicken and the egg, but I'm trying to say that if women were suddenly treated differently in the middle east it wouldn't change the extremist and medieval culture. However, if the extremism could somehow be immediately removed, women's rights would quickly follow suit.

  • @billytinkler yeah, chicken or the egg theory qualifies to be sure. There is extremism in Countries where the sexes are more equal of course, but I think her point was that as well as education, economic independence and prosperity once can also add equality as an element of human rights to the battle against extremism. Shes is aiming at Muslim societies mainly her though..

  • Ohhh, we won't be leaving Afghanistan in 2011. Some way or some how we will be hooked into this lost cause:( I bet their will be some terrorist attack here in Canada, thanks to Mr. Stephen "Convenience" Harper. And of course it will have originated from Helman province, thus the Canadian public will be overwhelmingly in support of staying. Thats how they'll get ya, I see it coming!!!

  • I'm glad George is in the popular culture to represent Canada.

  • Religion and overpopulation are security threats for everyone.

  • Agreed, Gordon, agreed!!

  • George is one of the best interviewers I have come across, from any country. This guy can make a name for himself internationally. Very eloquent answer by the Secretary of State as well.

  • Agreed on both points. I have seen him complimented for his insightfulness and quality of question by some very intelligent people.

  • SO nice to hear someone ask an intelligent question of a politician and get an intelligent answer back. Usually neither is the case!

    You rule George.

  • 1 Timothy 2:12 (New International Version)

12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.

    From the bible :/

  • @neongamer you can't take the bible literally, , especially in the modern age.

  • @neongamer

If we went by everything that was stated literally in the bible, we'd still be slaughtering our firstborn.

  • FIRST

  • You're my boy george! you're my boy!

  • Empowering women in the Middle East is likely one of the top ways to bring that area out of poverty as well as taming the Islamic faith.

  • @HiveDes how is that? i would say that empowerment of women is the RESULT of a general culture shift brought about by the liberation from poverty and modernization of government.
