Ha.. you are right I would have just taken it back to the store but ugh, I wasn't in mood to get ready to hop in the car driving all way back to store for just a bread.

Looks like someone at the bakery forgot to punch down the dough after the first rising, and just stuck it straight into the oven... (parents used to bake all our own bread at home). I agree with Kreiger, though. You can stuff that hollow part with melted cheese, and it would be yummy..
