  • Does anyone else think that this guy is a "one-man wolfpack"?

  • I'm a big fan!

  • WOW... but... be careful, you might bust an O-ring...

then you'll be stuck wearing granny-diapers for life

  • How do you do that ? genius !!

  • what modes are you using for the improv?

  • beginning sounds like caravan, then maria. you sound like arturo

  • Thanks!

  • I can usually play a few notes above high C (two ledger lines above staff) I can hit a D pretty consistantly, and sometimes an E or F. F# is my highest note so far =)

  • wow. i can only get to about maybe a double g. an octave above the one just above the staff. i dont know my doubles but i think thats what it is.

  • Sounds a lot like Macarthur Park

  • yes

  • @StinkyCheeser i have a feeling it is, lol thats my first thought too at :20

  • @amberlyfoshizzz

    @StinkyCheeser

    thats cause it is

  • loving the clean resonant tone and control in every register great job sir

  • nice with the MacAthur Park into it!! =)

  • Didn't seem B. like Eb

  • enlitened 1234's comment = hate, but that's totally obvious.

    Moving on...

Horn sounds great, nice clean notes and great control, which is also obvious.

    Peace.

  • Is that all you have on this guy? You can play mary had a little lamb with good phrasing and based on this video you are unsure if he can? You are a douche.

  • do you have the sheet music for that song?

  • Also, octaves don't have to start on C. from F# to F# (12 Chromatic Tones) is an octave, so is D to D and so on. An octave is an interval, and an interval is the distance between any 2 notes.

  • When speaking about musical theory (the keyboard) that is true. However, different terms have been developed for trumpet and flute. A flutes "high C" is a trumpets "double high C".

  • no, a flutes high C is a trumpets high D and octaves do not start at C. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MIDDLE B. Your knowledge of music is like a person thinking that there are 15 notes.

  • without respect to key, i was just mentioning the noteation on paper

  • Please shut up, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about, troll. Octaves DO start on C. Why wouldn't there be a middle B? It's right below high C(above the staff). Double B would be the note under triple C(2 octaves above high C above the staff).

  • for double B you could just say B2 and for triple C you could just say C3. If there was such a thing as middle B then it would be under middle C. Why middle C is called middle C is because it's the middle note. in other words, it's the note that connects the bass and treble clef. If you were in the C major key than octaves would start on C. But if you were in the key of G#, for example, octaves would start on G#.

  • It's just like chords where if in the key of C, unless your talking about a half cadence, you would always have to end on the root chord. In a half cadence you would end on the V chord.

  • It is becoming more and more clear that our music education is clearly leaving out the importance of teaching the note's names. To begin, octaves start with C. Middle C is the C that is on the third space. Middle B, is the B under High C. If you are playing a double-high B, then you are playing the note under the triple high C which maynard could not even do on a regular basis.

  • 'Middle C' is actually located on the first ledger line -underneath- the -Treble Staff-, or the first ledger line -above- the -Bass Staff-. This is right smack in the centre of the -Grand Staff-, hence middle C. Middle C is NOT located in the third space of the treble staff.

  • that is awesome :D 5/5

McArthur Park fit very well in that

  • nice man throwing a little macarthur park in ther fit nice.

  • does the air hump get you the B? or is it something else?

  • @kidfromredbank BWAAhahaha... "air hump"

  • I stumbled onto this video randomly, watched it, and thought, "Great, another random guy that can nail this stuff. I'm going to lose more work", but then I realized I know who you are. Under that principle, thank you for not being someone of which I was clueless. =P

    Seriously though, tasty stuff. =)

  • they should have u play in a mafia or gang related movie ......because that sounded like a song.......nice playing

  • its beautiful isnt it?

  • Actually, I believe it is a song. I think from 0:18 to the end was a solo by maynard or someone else. I cant remember for sure who though

  • Yep, McArthur Park

  • would you mind giving me tips on trumpet range?

  • practise pedals and use air not pressure

  • i do that already but i want to get way better. my range is only from D down and the highest i have ever hit is a double B

  • the key is air lol. of course you want to develop a firm diaphragm.

lol..funny story about my tutor's friend accidently shitting himself while playing in a concert XD didn't do it right haha

  • tabarnak

  • I like the shades. Good sound and power.

  • stfu sevendust9227

  • you can't just play really loud in order to test a mouth piece.

  • playing loud is part of it, you have to jump back and forth from loud to soft.

The hardest mouthpiece for me to get used to was Warburton.

The easiest, and my current one, is (naturally) a Monette.

  • So intonation wasn't a goal in your mouthpiece safari??

  • I loved the mac arthur park in there lol

  • Amazing!!!

    I have a Shoopman top, but i play with a #3 backbore.

    Really good mouthpiece!!!

I use it in youth orchestra and nobody realizes until I actually tell or show them the cup.....not even professionals

  • Nice Sound!

  • lawl sounds like it should be in the Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. pretty damn awsome

  • Great tone! What equipment?

  • nice sound!!! that sounds really good. and you look like hyde from that 70 show. haha thats sweet

  • LMAO at hyde :D

  • I miss that show...

  • it didnt go anywhere...

  • As in it's over. No more new episodes since they hit the 80's lol. It would be kinda cool to see what they do then lol.

  • haha

they get jobs and grow old :(

  • HAHa...yea probably...but still would be a kick ass show for a few more years ^.^

  • haha idk.. did u ever see "that 80s show"?

that show sucked pretty badly lmao

  • Oh yea. I heard about that. and yea, I heard it was cut fast lol

  • lmao.. it was cut in like ten seconds.. it sucked that bad lmao

  • Effortless !

I've had my share of high note playing. I use a lot of air and seem to get high notes but it is always a struggle. I can get up there but once I am there... I don't have any flexibility.

The more I see and hear these amazing trumpet players the more I see that once they finish playing the notes....they don't seem to be out of breath.

There is something to their approach which I find amazing. Smarter and not harder is the key. Absolutely right.

  • killer sound!

  • Damn, that was great sound.

  • you have a brilliant sound!!!

  • And What Song is that you're Playing?

  • macaurthur park - maynard fergueson arrangement

  • Cool I would Lean How to play this song on my Trumpet.

  • How Can you Play all of the High Notes?

  • Plz tell me how to play low G. I have a concert soon and I NEED to know

  • Pick up a low brass instrument.

  • 1 and 3

  • 2nd finger...

  • 3 valves down (F#) plus throw out your valve slides. Push lots of air through loose embouchure. If that doesn't work for you just hum really loud through your horn... nobody will know.

  • Oops this is supposed to be a reply to a dude asking how to play a low G for an upcoming concert. My bad if it seems random.

  • fuck the MP. its the glasses!!!

  • can't forget the beard.

  • Internet: Serious Business.

  • Which backbore and top do you use?

  • Nevermind. I just read the "More Info" section.

  • crazy wow

  • Haha, not to be funny but he squated when he played teh higher notes...(im not being rude... i do it too -.-)

  • i have a warburton that i use for alot of lead playing in jazz gigs, i love the thing

  • wicked

  • yes that is macarthur park he was playing.

  • Hey! That doesn't look like Maynard!

  • Very astute.

  • LULZ.

  • lol

  • that's macarthur park, that he plays at 018 right?

  • Nice, I can nail the F#, the B above that is my challenge!

  • nice !!!

  • that was cool

  • Go B. Love the glasses! bassnase

  • ...thats quite the B...sounds like you like the mpc. I was following the the forum on trumpetherald where you posted this. Whats the difference between warburtons and bachs or marcinkiewicz?
