Great review, but I didn't dig the deinterlacer you used for the footage. Some of it was still interlaced and there was a huge loss of resolution on some sections with lots of flashing and movement. Also Scarlet from GI Joe > Teela from He-Man :-P

I used to love this cartoon as a kid! But since I had to live in Qatar during my childhood days, the cartoon was dubbed in Arabic.Funny that they pronounced it "Valthraan". I didn't get a fucking word they said but it was still so cool. I just loved seeing the 5 doggies convert to a giant robot.

Does this release have the 5.1 surround from the orignal sets ? Being an 80s purist, I normally don't listen to the surround tracks that some 80s dvds have, but the Voltron surround mixes were made from the original elements and were pretty cool.

I Love Voltron, but if you want to see Voltron as it was intended, get the Go Lion DVD's which is the original unedited version from Japan. Way more blood, violence, gore, and awesomeness.

@davesecx Agree completely! I loved Voltron (I was like 7 years old when it was airing back in '84...I still have my original toys too, heh) and still think it's cool, but GoLion was on a whole different level. It's like Voltron for adults.

Definitely would recommend it to fans; the differences between the original and English dub aired over here are striking.

@TRKizm Power Rangers didn't rip off Voltron. They are both part of a type of Japanese superhero show called Sentai. Which is, basically, five or more heroes in coloured uniforms who pilot huge robotic animals/insects, etc. and fight evil robots or monsters. Voltron was Sentai anime and Power Rangers is live action Sentai. Also, fyi, the group of series that PR was taken from started about 10 years BEFORE Voltron was created....in 1975, or thereabouts.
