i love wobbly shiny desktops. I HATE minimal drab dry desktops. Majority of folks who crave for minimal WM on ubuntu (or whatever linux you use) have crappy machines that they have been running for YEARS and are wayyyy to slow. On a modern machine (of the recent 2 years even) in which you can spend ~500 online give or take a couple hundred (more like give), desktop effects cost nothing resource wise. That said, my desktop looks better than any OSX or windows 7 can stock provide.

gaming is a monopoly, of course game engine developers wont waste money for a platform that people get because its free and don't need to pay over a hundred dollars for things they don't need. they wont make much money. I have Ubuntu as my non gaming OS much faster than any windows or OSX platform, reliable for browsing and basic everyday needs. def not a piece of crap.

@celebzox, Looks like he is using the "new wave" theme that comes with Ubuntu. I personally like the "Ubuntu Studio" theme with the "new wave" window border. Good luck and hope this has been some added help.
