  • magic!

  • We must give credit where credit is due. Without Segovia's contributions in the 20th century the classical guitar would be in a very sorry state indeed. Thank you for all your post.

  • so well written.. so well played. this is so beautiful.

  • people say jimmi hendrix with his sloppy blues rock solos is the best because of what he contributed but he gave nothing to the guitar like the master andres segovia did

  • There are so may great guitarist, but I don't think anyone else ever created such a magic sound from a guitar.

  • @BenMurrie

    segovia liked it.

  • i thought this was romance de los pinos??

  • @guitario85 : indeed it is. But it is also known as Montemayor (Contemplacion) in the Castles Of Spain suite.

  • @tmjcbs oh yeah i forgot about that. thanks tmjcbs

  • easily the best Segovia video on youtube.

  • He was and is the king: period.

  • When you playin in castles, by candlelight, yo ass has arrived.

  • No one sounds like Segovia.

  • What concert is this part from? Where can I dawnload the full version of this concert? Wright me please.

  • Romance de los pinos

  • yes you are right

  • my master who is the student of a Segovia's student is always speaking well of him,he is always saying " buy a CD of Segovia so you can hear how the guitar has to be played", I did and I have to say that I really like his style, he was the standard guitarist, I think we first have to play like segovia to learn how to play and than make our own style

    .

  • fired because they don't use a 6 string guitar?? strange , I know many people who made the final exam with a 10 string guitar without problem, maybe for the professors is different, don't know.

  • segovia ,king, king must "had to it his way".if a king give you a lot of way,you go to which?

  • good point...i agree with you in spirit..not saying i agree with my professor, you may be right

  • thanks for the info gavinmoose.i will take my time over this lovely piece.

  • great! his one of the master in classical music.. but at 1st i thought i was watching a horror movie

  • Wow! A lot of scummy posts on here. Don't sully Segovia. He was the greatest guitar player of the 20th century, not least of all because it was his talent and absolute mastery that finally earned respect for instrument among the rest of the world in music. Beautiful piece.

  • wow, he really set the standard and was a true master

  • Perfect!

  • amazing, it made me feel good...

  • lol u really do not know much about segovia and what he did for classical guitar...

he is and was the best and nobody will ever surpass him

  • You have to consider that in his time study of the guitar and learning resources were incredibly undeveloped.

Also, the instrument and technology have changed, making it easier to compose and play music in this day-and-age.

I question whether or not you know anything about the instrument or music yourself.

  • Hey! You should start playing triangle. I'm sure you would be master at it!

Ps: You need to find out what makes a master out of a good player! Tip: Segovia was a master.:)

  • In terms of fingers falling on strings with steady, loud tone--perhaps. In terms of the resonation of the soul projected into the soundbox of the guitar... well.. I'm not too sure.

  • Your reply to vinnothelizard is disgusting on so many different levels. And if you think that your ability to use obscenities impresses people then your very much mistaken.

Also, whatever you would like to say about Segovia has no value or signifcance after the foul and uncalled for rambling that preceeded it.

    Enjoy the music.

  • Wow. It's hard to take an idiot like this deluciarules134 seriously when he doesn't understand the most basic grammatical rules of his own native language. Idiot. You disrespect Segovia with this post and De Lucia with your stupid sign-in name. Go take an elementary school English class, fucktard.

  • @vinnothelizard well i dont want to say to much of myself but i work along side players like gabriel bianco and judicael perroy. i have to say this is completely false. in every country of the world theres a little girl who can play Paganini perfect. the thing that sets Segovia aside is not technique. but deep deep understanding of music and having it played in the deepest forms of authenticity. you must use your brain and heart to understand segovia not your eyes gazing upon technique.

  • @vinnothelizard btw i love asians. but i think there won't be many who are great musicians. great technique sure (not so great). they can hit the notes. but most Asian players dont go too much farther than just hittin the notes. technique is not simply hitting notes. but the efficiency in bringing to life your musical thoughts. thats what it really is. this is what seperates a little chinese girl who plays the notes perfect from segovia. a man who deeply studied the music and brings life to it.

  • Segovia plays in the spanish style of classical music. You probably play everything straighter than a ruler. His Ponce interpretations are they way that Ponce himself wanted them to sound. They were best friends. Torroba wrote this piece for Segovia. You are a dumbass

  • Ponce was Mexican; his influence was Neo-Classicism. Any composer is honoured to have his pieces be played by a competent player such as was Segovia. But Segovia doesn't really understand the style of composition. Yes, they may well have been good friends (on account that Segovia did his best.) Enough said... Listen, please, to Adam Holzman (Naxos DDD 8.553832)This is outstanding and accurate.

  • Don't tell me where Ponce was from. Holzman plays these so called 'true' versoins(Miguel Alcazar edition) of the ponce preludes that are actually just first drafts that ponce wrote. He would have never wanted anyone to play them. Even if you don't think Segovia is the greatest, quit bad mouthing a dead man and show respect to the man that gave the guitar to you, me, holzman and everyone else.

  • Segovia-schmagovia. Quit bad-mouthing the not-yet-dead. Segovia gave us an oversized guitar (for those with smaller hands than his) with just 6 strings.

Follow your own path. I prefer greats like Manjón, Barrios, even Yupanqui is more musical (and they are dead too.)

  • You would have never played guitar like you do without him. You don't have to respect him, but respect that.

  • Here! Here! I've played on presegovia guitars and just will not do. Thanks to the Maestro, we now have an instrument that is taken just as seriously as any bowed member of the orchestra, the piano, and the brass. Heh, he even showed how our instrument could evoke the sounds of these instruments. I didn't care for his arrogance, myself, but, it can not be denied that he did great things for the instrument and he could walk the walk he talked so well and walk it outstandingly.

  • @philomelodia a mockingbird could do that. I give him credit, it's the best-sounding instrument in A440, esp. if you want to play Moreno-Torroba's wonderful guitar concerto. But the problem starts when you feel you got to classify all plucked instruments (that look something like what Segovia played) a guitar.

  • @nomusician He's the most famous classical guitarist of all time and you are a troll on youtube. Ah the stupidity I see on this site...

  • @MikeyIV fame don't enter into it.

  • muy hermoso

  • A comment on Segovia's guitar performance someone said that the guitar world has barely begun to understand the profound musical language and all the poetic beauties that the great Segovia could bring forth and communicate. And we still have his records to let his poetry calm our weary souls.

  • His parents were upset he chose the guitar over the violin (undignified).I am so glad he didnt listen. One of the bests... ever !!! thanks for posting

  • ... la cancion se llama romace de los pinos.. sin duda exelente interpretacion de segovia. 5 stars!!

  • Wow, if only it were that easy.

  • Ich muss es schon zum xten Mal als Kommtar abgeben: Nur ein Wort: Wunderschön...!

  • Here is the man that made the guitar an acceptable instrument around the world and doing it was no easy feat. Thanks Andre...for the gift you gave us

  • Definantly. I consider him the greatest guitarist of all time. He brought the guitar's status from a simple peasents instrument to a popular instrument played and loved by many.

  • Hey Carlos...You hit it on the head. Imagine....an instrument of peasents. Music regardless of instrument or form is a gift be it from king or pauper.

  • well said

  • super super video!!! 5 stars! come by and check out my original acoustic tunes when you have a chance:)

    jim

  • Rreally enjoyed! Very special guy! Thanks for posting! Andre thanks!
