Does anyone know if the roll cage bar right in between the driver and the rear seats is removable in case the driver wants to bring along more people.
Also, how come the driver did not remove the rear seats, it will lighten the load by a few more pounds, it can give him at least a few more milliseconds shaved off the 0-60 time.
@kg35tt it seem weird right? you have to do the math to understand the time it takes plus the distance to understand why its 216mph. here's a scenero where i see a civic doing 126mph and sti did 118mph. at 1/4 mile. it sound like the civic beat the sti in this case but actually the sti beat the civic way earlier.
now you understand that because the civic didnt have no traction in the beginning so it had time to gain speed. you get my drift?
I respect the willingness to make a 1/4 monster into a mile king.. but imo its like training a a small doberman to be a fighting dog against 150 lb pit bulls and German shepherds. It weighs 3800lbs its not a lightweight, even with CF parts and lightweight seats she's still a heavy mutha'ucka. #2 displacement... against Ford GT, Lambo, etc its harder for companies to extract 1500+whp that it needs to set records... if the AMS blew up at 1200hp its almost unthinkable to last long at 1500.
@DANKNUGREVIEWS Well building a Ford Escape would be a lot fun and better than building a buick lesabre. search on youtube someone tune a buick lesabre and they've supercharged it. its ridiculous...
Let's make things clear right now. The car is obviously on low boost. Another GTR with only 840 whp reached 210, that day. 216 requires no more than 900-950 whp.
Next March you will probably see a 1500 whp GTR. That car will aim at 250 mph. Mark my words....
@Seventh7Art Why would AMS come out an state just slightly under 1200awhp and lie about it then? They are dialing them back because they are obviously concerned with the motor staying together during a 20+sec WOT pass, you think they are just going to magically be able to hold 300 more awhp next year? Your dreamin they need a new block.
@iPROFITDON what performance motor isn't "blueprinted"? Not sure what your meaning of the word is but that is just technically assuring all parts are weight the same and clearances all set to spec's for w/e the engine will be used for. AMS is still using Nissan's Block that has been resleeved and AMS does what I am assuming is reinforcing the block, they have not stated what exactly they do.
Wouldnt you agree that the integrity of the motor would be #1 concern to AMS in front of all these cam's
@TurboGSR96 Good point! I know Heffners is running a stock block in their 2000rwhp GT, then again those 5.4s are on a different level. If I'm not mistaken ARTs Viper block is also stock, but sleeved. You're right, AMS is using a sleeved 4.0. They and Switzer have both cracked the stock blocks in their push for more power. I can't recall the problem the Alpha in Moscow had when it "blew". It would hurt AMS' rep a bit to watch one blow at the mile, but it happens and they're not hiding it.
@iPROFITDON I am not a fan of any import V6 engine, I grew up around the Buick 3.8 turbo's and they are still to this day the baddest V6 ever.... the import Inline's we all know are insanely strong Gas Motorsports has made over 2000hp on them. I would have to say even though we have already reached power levels that make the physical casting fail in the GTR it still has potential, and you dont get the lag that you get in the Supra's and old GTR's especially when sleeved and 4.0L.
@TurboGSR96 I'm not what you'd call a fan either, but I do understand they have potential. I agree the Buick's 3.8 was and is the baddest V6 on the planet to this day. Inline's in general are insanely strong, look at semi trucks. I'm just wondering how much further they can push these blocks when they are already having trouble holding together. I believe BL is running a sleeved 4.3L now, be interesting to see how it holds up. 1300whp seems to be the barrier to break atm.
@iPROFITDON 4.3L is a big step up from a 3.8L block, has to have one hell of a long stroke crank in it if its even possible on the OEM block... it wont rev no where near what this car revs to thats for sure, sounds more of a track oriented car then a drag/acceleration setup.
As far as I know AMS is the only one reinforcing blocks and keeping them together, the Switzer R1k was "released" first and where are they all at? lol
@TurboGSR96 4.3L is indeed a bit step up. I don't think any GTR actualy revs out like this Alpha 12 does, even Switzer's builds. This thing sounds mental in car, better than it does from the outside if you ask me.
That R1K is running a factory 3.8L block unsleeved I believe. Not sure about the R1K-X. Where are they? I've yet to even hear about one except the one that ran like shit at the unlim 500+ Seems nobody really goes past the P850 lol wonder why.
@Seventh7Art I highly doubt they will hit the mile with 1500whp, these engines aren't holding together well enough with the current power level to allow that. The Alpha 12 in moscow blew up at that mile event running 1200whp IIRC.
This GTR is different from the one that ran 8s. It's the same alpha 12 AMS package though. It's being build for the 1/4 mile so I think it's still impressive that it was able to hit 216mph. Congrats to AMS performance!
@blazzing4321 Ironically thats true, i taught the Japs would have been all over this car based on the history of the previous GTRs like the R33, R34, R32 props up to Switzer Performance and AMS Tuning,
@TexasAceAA Its not that the aero is bad. The drag coefficient on a stock GT-R is .27 which is actually better than a C6 Z06. The problem is gearing. The stock gearing limits the car from hitting really high standing mile times. When the gearing gets adjusted it should see over 220's easily.
@kageryu311 Drag Coefficient is only off by .3-.5. Not a significant difference, however comparing a 4wd to a 2wd...you have to give the 2wd credit for placing numbers with less traction ability. The GTR is a fine car but just imagine if the Corvette was 4WD...lol. Awesome.
@kageryu311 I honestly dont think so, the Alpha 12's make power high in their powerband this car would pull like a raped ape until it buried 6th gear on the limiter, and nobody stated it was on the limiter so longer gearing isnt going to magically make it go faster.... it needs more power because the aero certainly isnt holding it back either according to the numbers.
@kageryu311 The GR6s they use are built by John Shepard not exactly just another built trans the only one that holds lol. Just don't get how the car will go 170s in the 1/4 and not go 220+ at least in the mile but makes sense since this one is on stock gearing and the drag car isn't.
@kageryu311 Also I think the shape of the GT-R is made for downforce, so the faster your going the more your car is sticking to the ground. But 216mph is still very impressive.
@nrajcoomar ummm, no... the car that went 266 at the tracked with the goofy timing system was making slightly more that 2000whp, this GTR is putting down slightly under 1200awhp.....
@TexasAceAA slightly under 1200awhp, AMS's 8.97 car was making 1360awhp...this car cant go much faster without gearing changes anyway, only reason it hit 216 is with a higher redline.
He's like the only car I have seen launch hard here...most of the really powerful vehicles have to pussyfoot it for the first couple of seconds or so to be able to hook up. Not near the fastest time out here but a decent showing.
