  • heard this at the roo in 08. this dude can play

  • The blues/rock genre is saved and exposed for a new generation... bless Davy (and his band)

  • Saw him at the House of Blues last night with Chickenfoot. Incredible set...

Speaking of this song.. has anyone heard Indigenous's (Mato Nanji) version of this song? Makes me so happy that this song is still being kept faithfully alive by these two artists!

    tom

  • wow thats mad playin there

  • Peter Frampton produced the new Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam CD "Coming Up For Air". Knowles, from Isle of Man is now touring the US promoting the new CD. "There is enough swagger, anguish and fiery chops in this Peter Frampton-produced set to qualify 22-year-old British guitarist Knowles for mainstream blues-rock cred." (USA Today review of 'Coming Up For Air') For more information see: davyknowlesdotcom

  • Haven't seen someone tear up the pentatonic like this since Stevie.

He's still a little rough around the edges (Maybe that's the beauty of it?) but shit me, this kid's special.

  • i think thats the beauty of blues in general. As long as you put all your soul in it, you dont have to be perfect. Emotion > Skill

  • omg iv had this dude on my favs cuz this vid is reeaaaly good and i just saw this mofo lastnight open up for chickenfoot and didnt realize this is him!!he is really incredible live!!

  • haha you're fierce man

  • Awesome..this and Gary Moore's version are my favorite covers of this Hendrix classic

  • Good stuff, really relaxing on the ears. Pretty surprised how good the tapping and peddling worked with the style your playing. Bravo man, good luck on tour.

  • Jimmy (and the blues) lives!

  • O_O

  • i think that Davy Knowles just taught Hendrix a lesson...hats off to this man

  • blew me away

  • Sick playin' man! but a little lack of blue in it... but sick playing though. ;)

  • let's see video of you playing it with "more blues in it" or keep your negative shit to yourself.

  • Well said

  • Dude - you play great. You should show some love and use that Per guitar you have. It's only right to use an axe that's as good as you are.

  • WTF? Why don't you use your Per guitar? It's better than any of your other ones!

  • brilliant!

  • YOu are amazing!!!!!! I heard you for the first time on radio KDVS today. Your sound is very mature considering your so young. AMAZING!!!!

  • damn he is amazinggggg i heard him and i saw htsi little puny kidd and i cuoudl believe that sound was coming out of him haha

  • holy fuck

  • This guy is coming to my town in June and I'm fucking excited.

  • Saw them open for REO couple years back........They rule....Stevie and Jimi are looking down on Davy. The kid has it in his soul!!

  • woh that was pwnage!

  • yeah thats kool shit that random cunt gives you man

  • hahaha u fucker lol.

  • i think i had an orgasm from 4:01 to about 4:24

  • woo hoo...just happened to check on BDS tour dates...next Monday in Scranton...with JEFF BECK!!!!...tickets bought...go Davey......can't wait!

  • Back Door Slam is Davy Knowles...he is such an amazing guitarist...so exciting. Have they broke up? The drummer and bass player seem like great guys too,Regards Billy ;)

  • i dont think they did i think davy just also plays shows with other artists

  • i have a question...

why is it that people like him aren't famous...??

i mean the talent is obviously there...

and being 16 i'm always...on the internet listening..

to blues and all and it just dosent make since, there is this man his name is chris duarte check him out freaking amazing, yet no one knows him...why ??

    type in "shilo part 1"

and watch it, its crazy...tell me what you think....

    thank you....

  • will check him out...and if he's good then ppl will know him...actually with the Net it's alot faster than it used to be...but thanks for the "heads up"...will definately check him out

  • checked him out ugh...he's good...not as clean as SRV or Davy..or Rory for that matter...that's the difference with Blues guitarists...it's the "cleaness" of the notes...you can't be sloppy (like me..heh)...just telling you what I think as you asked...if you like him that's great!...it's all good!

  • ok tyvm for your repley....

  • You won't be able to see "them". "They" are down to he. Davy kicked Adam and Ross out. That is what I was told by a very close friend of theirs.

  • his voice is AMAZING!!!!!

  • saw back door slam open up for Gov't Mule in Northhampton, MA back in nov '08. Davey Knowles can play some serious guitar. Check them out if they come near your hometowns.

  • whts there myspace name

  • next week bcoffey...with BECK!

  • the recording isn't very good, you cannot hear the bass, and the drummer is weak

  • wow son

  • Back Door Slam is still back door slam just with a different drummer and bass player. they currently have summer tour dates up on their myspace

  • i love back door slam...they are keeping the blues alive

  • this guy has his own stlye. not stevie ray, not rory, not trower, and not jimi's style. do you guy's even no anything about the blues. stop comparing him to some off the great guitarist ever. look for your self this yougest is going to become one of greatest on his own.

  • SRV?? naw man, this is pure Rory Gallagher style.

  • you can def hear SRV in this if you want. Rory Gallagher would have driven up the tempo like a madman

  • don't know why you're getting the negatives hear...SRV was great..so glad to hear anyone mention Rory (and you BDS ppl should check him out)...it's all good...Blues are blues...Southern...Texas...Irish..heh...

  • Jesus Christ, I just found the band in my Amazon recommendations, and the things I find here keep getting better and better, and there's no end in sight. I am completely amazed.

  • Tremendous!

  • Wow great,

  • A message from Davy Knowles:

"To clear up any confusion, this is not the end of the road for any of us...whilst Adam & Ross are pursuing their own music careers outside this band, I can confirm I will be continuing as Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam. I am currently writing and preparing songs for the follow up to Roll Away, and I will be touring later in the year to support its release. Can't wait for that, & I look forward to seeing you out there on the road! More news soon, Cheers, Davy :) "

  • thank you. I was hoping for your direction. Cheers from Memphis.

  • BDS have broken up ladies and gents.. Davy will bring out his own album & tour again don't worry.

  • I nvr heard of these guys before but i saw them when they opened for Gov't Mule. Knoles is fucking amazing live, honestly i liked his 45 minute set better than mule's. I was on the edge of my seat. This guy is a god

  • HOPE FOR MUSIC!

  • I saw them with Gov't Mule, fantastic band

  • oh yea, i saw em in royal oak, michigan, one of the best shows i've ever seen

  • Theres hope for music

  • that kid can rip...seems like a promising new band

  • woww, excellent version

  • I love how this video sparks arguements about Cobain. Because this is a grunge band right?

Sarcasm aside, these guys kick ass, that much is undeniable.

  • If you like this..check out Chantel McGregor's latest version of Red House,She's an incredible up and coming UK guitarist and she does a fantastic cover of this Hendrix song!!!!!

  • Look I play guitar, drums, bass, piano and violin. I've learned to respect all genres (except chinese opera, I still am not fond of that)But there is good music in every genre. Good music is defined by the heart and soul and ofcourse talent. Even in rap there are some artists that put their heart and soul into it and I respect that. Cobain definitly put his heart into it and if you ever saw a live recording or an actual show youd understand he gives off a vibe.

  • epic.

  • blues

  • Shit I was at this gig. These guy's just rocked the house. The funny thing is we are all inspired by different things and what works for some, may not work for others. BUT when you see performers dig in and play with such passion, it works. The human instinct in each of us is attracted to others when they are so in tune with what they are doing. This band and especially Davey, just nail it. He's emptying his bucket. Gotta give the band, these guys are all just in the zone with each other. YAY!

  • Wow very nicely done, it's amazing how young they are and already so talented. Given time these guys will be legends hopefully.

  • OMG That was just amazing!!!!

  • I saw these guys with Gov't Mule probably the best concert of my life. Granted im only 14 lol

  • man i saw the same concert in detroit, they rocked it and im only 17

  • Its very refeshing to hear such great music being performed so gracefully by such young people. I myself am 19 and a huge blues fan, and these guys are nothing short of legit. If only our current music scene wasnt dominated by untalented, overmarketed "bands" such as the Jonas Brothers, etc... But who knows, with talent like this staring you right in the face, its hard to turn the other shoulder. Long Live The Blues!

  • i love how the one drunk guy is jammin out in the background.

  • The bass player and drummer are nothing more then coat hangers taking up space on the stage.

  • just saw them last night, they fucking rip

  • 24? Jimi was 27 when he died.

  • come on dude, forever 27, with the likes of Morrison, Cobain, Jones, Joplin

  • HAHAHAHAHA Cobain? What a joke!!!

  • Fuck you, Cobain was awesome, it is irrefutable, you are wrong and have no taste in music

  • Ok first of all, as a as a player of 10 instruments, for about 20 yrs, I am a fan of more types/genres of music, than you have probably ever heard of, so yeah your bound to say I have no taste in music because I like different things than you, and I'm sure, we like a few similar things. However Cobain is an artist that people "like" or think is "good" only because it's cool to do so. So just keep getting crap jammed down your throat. You evidently enjoy it.

  • i do respect how many instruments you play but it doesnt mean much in musical tatse... you could know all that and have no soul, some say knowing to much takes away from the innocence of music.cobain destroyed the 80's metal scene, if you dont call that amazing then i dont know what you do but that man is amazing. he made it a point that you dont have to be a crazy guitarist to be great, i mean look at the beatles they are great song writers and average musicians

  • because kobain is a poet not a musician

  • InNominus is a fucking liar anyways. Doesn't even play guitar.

  • Cobain wasn't suppose to be a great guitar player or singer. he wrote melodies and lyrics, and he was good at what he did, if you dont like his style you dont have to rip on him for it

  • I've seen BDS in a small club in DC. They're touring with Gov't Mule now. Go see them. Davy Knowles is the real deal.

  • this young man is really good!...

  • thats completely ridiculous.

  • HOLY SHIT this guy kicks ass

  • The guitarists just turned 21, the drummer is 22. Pretty accomplished, eh?

  • i couldn't help but notice that you did not mention anything about the bassist.....what a coincedence haha

  • I'd include him as a "guitarist." No musician, I.

  • hell yeah!!!

  • WOW!

  • I can't wait to see him....I'll drive 500 miles...okay maybe 700 kilometers...but I will DRIVE to see him play....

  • all of you stop...it's not skynyrd....this is just a kid paying a tribute to jimi...and god if he doesn't bust it through the roof...of that Red House....fucker can sing too...jesus he grew up isle of wight...an island of what?...10,000 ppl...that grows to 100,000 for concerts going back to '69 when Jimi played..The Who...

  • its the Isle of Man mate not the Isle of Wight, a common mistake that fustrates me! haha

  • Bordel de bordel de bondieu de bondieu! Hendrix est de retour! Ce mec a un talent fou!

  • see, ppl take kid rock as a puss and not a serious musician, just becuz he might've done different genres, i gotta tell ya, i saw him with skynyrd and this band too, i must say he puts on a show, he's a real ppl person

  • I agree, he puts on a great show. Saw em last night at the molson ampitheatre. it was crazy. And this guys voice is so unexpected, he's got some crazy talent

  • did you see him in mansfield?

  • i think, the comcast center, or whatever the fuck they call it now, lol

  • Good God, I hate Kid Rock.

  • How old he is in this video?

  • They have just been added to the Rock & Rebels tour with Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Back Door Slam gets some arena experience in front of lots of people. Go see them in person if you can. The videos do not give justice to this amazing group.

If you see them in person, please post your comments about originality, tone, style, relative greatness, etc.

It will be interesting if the comments shift after seeing them live. I know mine did!

  • im going to their concert tonite

  • TarkinsApprentice, please give us a review after the show.

  • dont get me wrong of course Lynard Skynard and Kid Rock were way better than Back Door Slam. They were yes good, especially for their first time in front of a crowd of that size and opening for two big artists. They were definetly better than they were in this video great guitar and bass was the best i think overall.

  • wow i can't believe theres people out there who could possibly like kid rock and lynyrd skynyrd more than this. Davey knowles is 10X better than anyone in any of those bands.

  • wooh! hold the fuck on you definetly just said this second rate band was better than fuckin' Lynard Skynard. Lynard Skynard is one of the best classic rock band ever...yes there is a chance i like this band a little better than kid rock but more ppl like kid rock and kid rock performed better at the concert

  • "Lynard Skynard"?

your comment best be a joke..

  • Lynard Skynard is one of America's best rated Classic Rock bands, next to Creedence Clearwater Revival. Don't forget Back Door Slam isn't really the same type music as Lynard Skynard.

  • oh my.. you're serious. okay, i'll enlighten you.

do you know how incredibly uninformed you are making yourself appear by saying "Lynard Skynard"? it's LYNYRD SKYNYRD. please stop pretending you know anything about them if you can't spell their name right..

  • you spelled it wrong dude. lynyrd skynyrd.

  • OK, they prove they have soul, they prove they can play. Now just let go of the fast playing for a sec and give us the same feeling like in the opening vibratos. Give the audiance a moment to breath...

  • Holy shit! Is this human ?

  • Never heard of these guys and randomly saw them at bonnaroo. They blew me away. I wish more people understood how good they are

  • great job on this video

i saw them at montreal at festival international de jazz

    very good vibe

  • lol...who would have thaught that Jimi gets reborn in the body of a white English kid?...God has a sense of humor after all!!

  • English?,HE'S MANX !!!!!

  • Jesus....have nothing more to say...with you nathan...where are they playing?

  • Holy shit... is the blues back alive again?

    This blew me away.

I hope these guys have an American tour soon, because I want to see this in person.

  • Saying that he needs to mature isn't an excuse; it's simply an observation. He may or may not fulfill the promise he's showing right now, but it's certainly fair to say that he needs to gain more experience. He hasn't been performing for very long, and he's very young. If he stays on track, he has potential to be really great, tho it seems a bit premature right now to start worshipping him as the new guitar god. No matter what, he certainly has enough talent to get people talking!

  • 67goldtop

how dare u bring rational thought and knowledge to a youtube debate!! u obviously haven't bin doing this for very long!! :)

i agree with u and musicplusfood. this guy is good, and may become great, but at the mo, he certainly isn't the guitar good people say he is, and people shouldn't be making excuses for him saying he needs time to mature. the future at the mo is with the guys u list (good fucking list); guys like joe, derek and sonny. lets not start sucking davey off just yet.

  • thebluesexpress,

LOL! The funny thing is, I have defended Davey to other players who say he sucks. He doesn't suck, he's fantastic. But yes, the comparisons made to the alltime greats are, at this point, comical. There's a TON of great players, who have also done their share of writing, gigging for years. I have seen every dude I listed earlier, & I can say that Davey is nowhere near as accomplished on his instrument. Will he get there? Don't know. I wish him the best & admire his dedication.

  • ditto. even if he was half as good as he is, its good to know people are paying attention to young blues bands. i enjoy his performances. i suppose its important to realize that, tho he doesn't have half the originality of trucks, landreth or whoever (at least imo), he's a very proficient player, and an amazing singer. good luck to him.

  • I'm not a guitarist and I don't claim to be an expert on guitarists, but as far as I'm concerned this kid is phenomenal. I'm not going to bother with comparing him to greats like Hendrix and SRV, I would rather just appreciate the talent that he does have on display. Of course there is always room for him to grow and learn the more he plays, and I'm sure he will. But in my opinion, he's UNDENIABLY talented. And if some of you guys can play as good as or better, you're all fantastic too.

  • talent. lets all hope for someone who smokes instead of comparing him to those who are fucking DEAD.

  • chuckballs, Your sentence makes no sense. "Someone who smokes instead of comparing him to those who are fucking DEAD??" That makes sense to you? Really, what's the difference if one can still pop in a cd or dvd & listen a watch. However I'll entertain your silly post. 1. Sonny Landreth 2. Derek Trucks 3. Joe Bonamassa 4. Luther Dickinson 5. Ian Moore 6. Tinsley Ellis 7. Marc Ford 8. Audley Freed 9. Daniel Sproul 10. Mato Nanji Start w/ them, jerkoff. Then tell me what you've learned.
  • 67goldtop

You can add a few more Texas boys:

    1. Rusty Burns

    2. Buddy Whittington

    3. Bugs Henderson

    4. Rocky Athas

    5. Billy Gibbons

    6. Johnny Winter

  • PJThatOthersMayLive,

No doubt! In mentioning the guys I listed earlier, I was going mostly for players to hit the scene in this generation. Or say from '90 on. My point was u don't need to go back to players from the 60's (Hendrix, Page, Clapton, etc) to hear dudes who I'd call GUITAR GODS before I'd throw that title on Davey. But you're right-there's many more to name. Peace.

  • i think you're forgetting John mayer.

  • Beshimi,

    Actually, I'm not.

  • haha. well, if you want to flaunt around musical elitism, that's fine, but Mayer is right up there with those guys. i really think you should listen to ALL aspects of Mayer's playing before you write him off like that. Buddy Guy has said he is going to be a legend, Double Trouble played with him, B.B. King, Scofield, Clapton, Rene Martinez is teching for him, i mean, come on. if you can't see past the "Wonderland" image and hear the incredible guitarist, then you're just being close-minded.

  • Beshimi,

Flaunt around musical elitism?? Whatever. That's probably one of the sillier assertions I've heard in a while. I've been praising Mayer since I first saw him 5 years ago. I HAVE listened to ALL aspects of his playing & I think he's amazing. Does he make it into my current top 10? Nope.

  • i can respect your opinion, but you have to understand that from your post, it looked like you were just dismissing Mayer's playing completely in a very coy manner. for me, he is right up there with Trucks and Bonamassa.

  • Well i've listened to a lot of live john mayer trio stuff (mayer's blues). I saw this band at bonaroo and this guitar player is hands down out of mayers reach. its unfortunate that mayer is more well known by his personal life than his music. He's in the same ball park as those guys you mentioned but certainly not on their level (songwriting is still his major malfunction). he's never melted my face with a solo. i enjoy him but he's not even near the top

  • yeah, i would consider his songwriting one of his greatest strengths. i mean, there's a reason Clapton personally invited him onto his estate to write music with him.

as far as his solos, i would really recommend you check out his performance of Gravity at Maryland Heights on 7/3/08. it may not "melt your face" but i have never heard him play so well. the video is in my favorites if you want to watch it.

  • trucks in your top 10 negates your opinion. take a deep breath and realize that petty name-calling only adds to your douchedom. poontang in '08!!

  • EATSballs,

Is that a fact? Name 10 slide players under the age of 30 who you rank ahead of Derek Trucks. And while you're at it, name the best 5 song compositions from each. I mean heck, naming 10 players of supeerior ability on the instrument should be no problem. Correct? Can't wait.

  • Hey chucksballs, this dudes list is actually pretty badass. Let's hear yours. What's the matter, can't name any current blues players??

  • Jesus Christ! You people make it so hard to freaking enjoy the music! Who cares if he's revolutionary or not? Even on the supposition that he isn't as amazing as Hendrix, the music is infatuating and hypotizing. Let them play the music they want. Isn't that all music really should be? The expression of your heart and soul into sound? That's why bands like Back Door Slam are among the best ever. They're not afraid to express their deepest vigors, even if it means sounding just like the greats.

  • BallosBase,

People commenting on a Youtube vid make it hard to enjoy the music? Then quit reading & turn up the volume, Drama Queen.

  • BallofBase,

HYPOTIZING?? Among the best ever after 1 studio album? Oh, I get it. You're 15.

  • You all are a bunch of toolsheds, this guy's amazing for his age and even 20 years beyond his age. None of you could even stand on one foot in front of him if you're sitting here critiquing him. Bunch of bullshit "i think i have the right to judge" people. Give me a break...see him live in concert and then you'll see what we're all talking about.

  • I agree... and I don't know why people are saying he isn't a guitar god. Just because he isn't as famous (yet) as SRV or Hendrix doesn't mean he isn't as good. I'll say it: he is just as good as those guys. He doesn't need time to mature. He's already a stud.

  • smilieface1827,

Easy pal. How many times did you see SRV & Hendrix?? Davey's great. But I can walk around town and jump into 1/2 dozen bars in the city & see guys as good. He's not even in the same building as Hendrix or SRV. Your claiming he's as good shows your ignorance. He's barely written anything, & at this point in his development as a guitarist, his phrasing is quite repetetive. Check some of the vids on my faveorites page. I'll take Mato from Indigenous over Davey in a heartbeat. Peace

  • Hey devinp34,

Actually some of us could hold our own with Davey quite well, thank you. Really, he's a fine player but far from revolutionary. He's doing nothing that people before him haven't done better. As far as your objection to people "judging" him, that's a pretty silly commentary. What else are the COMMENT spaces intended for? Oh, and yes, I have seen him in concert.

  • well look at this - Davy Knowles making history while someone on youtube critises him. Very Sad

  • collipower101,

    CRITISES????

  • back door slam are amazing.

the lead singer: davey, used to teach my brother guitar for a little while until he started getting bigger and better and didn't have any more free time.

back door slam first started in the isle of man, where i live, and davey is good friends with my family.

    oh yeaaa.

    how bout those apples

  • alot of people are saying this guy has to mature as a player, and i agree. he has an incredible voice for the blues, and his guitar playing is bang on the money, but nothing that makes him the guitar god he's bin marketed as. i think a guitar god should be a god b4 he hits the limelight, and not be only half baked . by all means i respect him. he's better than me. i think people should stop making excuses for him tho. nobody should have to say 'give him time' imo.

  • Give him time..he'll be at the top for a long time. He'll mature and find HIS OWN VOICE

I just saw him in the US / New Jersey on a Sat. night...Lindenwold. His eyes and mind were clear,no drugs or drink, and what a GREAT KID.The opening"Illinois" from Philly pretty good,Showed the typical drug and drink world that most young players fall into. They watched this kid with admiration and maybe even jealousy, you'd see how special this kid is.

Stay the course Rob "Lightnin' Y-check

  • Davey's a talented kid, no doubt. However, I do hope he matures as a player. This rendition of Red House is largely wank. We know he's got the speed & the technique. However, I hope he develops the confidence to not feel the need to so often ignore the groove. I have no time for players who let their phrasing suffer simply to show their speed. I mean what's wrong with double stop bends with intense, singing vibrato and held for 12 bars?? I'd rather hear that than a consistent flurry of notes.

  • He didn't only play rapidly. Granted, it took up the majority of the songs, but I caught a lot of powerful tremolos and slower burning chords in the solo that does prove he has more going than just speed. He didn't totally ignore the groove, either. Give Davy chance to find his true calling. He's a brilliant kid on the brink of stardom, but he's still a kid. It takes time to mesh the blues into your own. He'll do it. Don't worry.

  • BallofBase,

If you reread my comments, you'll notice that I prefaced them with "THIS VERSION" of Red House. I'm aware he is a fantastic player, and that typically, he plays inside the groove. My comments are specific to this tune, & as such are accurate. As far as his game on his instrument, I have nothing but faith. It seems RED HOUSE has become the standard Hendrix tune, even more so than Voodoo Child (Slight Return) for young guns to cover. Sadly, the result is usually all flash, like this.

  • John Mayer meets Johnny Lang...

  • this video never ever seems to get old, long live the blues

  • Not pointing to anyone in particular, but people need to stop saying "he sounds to much like..." "He needs to be more original with his sound..." Give me a break , its people that say that shit that makes all the shitty music out there today. JUST BE THANKFUL KIDS ARE PLAYING MUSIC LIKE THIS , ITS BLUES MAN........

  • im not say he isnt goodbut damn do i get tired of every blues player that playes a strat haveing tha same damn tone i mean seriously they all sound the same anymore i have a feeling thats why bonamassa uses les pauls more now and not only do they all have prety much the same tone they all play the same old tired licks come on guys be original strive to be diffrent like i said this guy can play but when it comes to tone he sounds tha same as any weekend jam night warrior

  • Distorted Les Pauls really all sound the same. When they push an amp they all come out sounding like the guitar. With Strats it takes a lot of tweaking to get the distortion to sound good, and that is where the personality comes out in the tone.

  • how about les pauls through marshall amps? they ALL sound the same. I heard a guy though, play a les paul through a marshall amp and he had a fender 59' bassman pedal/stompbox OD. his tone was incredible.

  • Oh I am by no means saying they don't sound good. I LOVE a les paul through a marshall. But they all sound the same. I mean people have their own little tweaks and they don't sound EXATCTLY the same. I'm exaggerating to make my point...but they sound very similar. Single coils take more work to get good sound, and generally that gets a more personal sound. hell I still play a PRS will full blown high output humbuckers.

  • you just like les pauls better. shut up.

  • He has the talent, but all i have to say is this: sometimes the most dramatic part of a speech is the pause. He lacks phrasing.

  • I love the way he jams, but do y'all think he's on hedrix, the 3 Kings, SRV, Beck, Allman, Clapton levels yet? Maybe? He's pretty f-ing sweet, but not yet atleast, maybe in 1-2 years

  • remove the hyphen between 1-2 and I think your comment might be more accurate...

  • does anyone else think their song "gotta leave" is similar to Since Ive Been Loving You??

    possible influence?

  • Influence, defenitely. Plagarism, defenitely not.

  • knowles' solo in gotta leave doesnt even compare to since ive been loving you, but it is defenitley good. i would have to say that out of all the zep songs, since ive been loving you is my fav solo. well, maybe dazed....maybe heartbreaker...okay nvm too many to chose from :)

  • i totally agree

the first thing i thought when i heard him was that he sounded like stevie ray vaughan.....

  • wow. my friend saw them in salt lake city when they opened for rusted root and he just showed me this clip. totally blown away. -beck

  • Well, this is them live. you can see for yourself. From what I hear though is their live performances are WAY better than their recordings. So if any of you get the chance check them out.

  • these guys are going to be at bannaroo are they good live?

  • I think Davy plays like..Davy Knowles. A virtuoso guitar player that "went to school " on guitar players that have come before him. All these lads pay homage to those that came before without coping them. If people see fit to draw comparisons then the list would have to be long as there are elements from all that came before them, because that's the nature of blues and music in general.

Back Door Slam, to me, always sound most like Back Door Slam and that's not just good...that's awesome!!
