haha, "Sequence 1" (the day of wrath song) is actually like one of my bro's favorite's on Give Us Rest XD all that madness and epicness melted his face off ;D in a really good way :D :D
@bsp256 Actually, if you DO read much of the work of the early church fathers there is very obvious and specific references to apostolic succession and the mass and many other things that are at the heart of the present Catholic Church. :)
"How can I believe in the gospel if I was not first moved by the Church that gave the gospels to me" - St. Augustine of Hippo The authority Christ gave to the apostles preceded the canonization of Scripture. A challenge for all of us to examine whether or not we really want to be led, to be a part of the patrimony of faith that has been handed down through the centuries. So often I want the King but not the kingdom He established on earth, namely the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church.
@bsp256 The Catholic mass was instituted hundreds of years before the Bible was even written/composed and is what lead to it's composition through the Holy Spirit. The Mass entails several scripture readings and can be found in it's entirety in the Bible.
@bsp256 I would start by reading the early church fathers also known as the Apostolic fathers. St. Ignatius of Antioch's writing (called the Didache), St. Justin Martyr (apologia), St. Irenaeus, St. Cyprian, St. Athanatius, etc. As a former evangelical pastor, I can only say that while it's a been a wild ride, I've never been more at peace (though still asking questions) and amazed since returning to the Catholic faith six years ago. May God bless your journey!
@riverdreams1 In Acts 17:11, the Bereans were commended for verifying Paul's teaching with Scripture. Why should I take your advice and compare the Catholic church with church fathers? I want to be commended like the Bereans. (Of course, the Berean Jews' Scripture was the Old Testament).
@bsp256 Well, first I would recommend getting a real Bible and not the Martin Luther edited version that so conveniently caters to his beliefs.
Next, I would read the Bible. If it helps you can use Catholic Bible studies like Scott Hahns. In fact, he is actually a convert to Catholicism and is now one of the leading theologians of the Church. He has a buch of literature on his conversion and why he converted.
@bsp256 Lastly, ask questions. If you have questions about specifics, ask a Priest or someone who knows the answers. You can even ask me. I may not have all the answers, but I can at least point you in the direction of someone who can answer it better than I.
Another thing would be to look at the writings of the fathers of the Church before and after the Bible was comprised and see what they cite as reference.
Out of curiosity, what has lead you to determine that it's NOT the true church?
@broncogirl101 He started a church out of a baptist university! So probably not. But there's some good tradition to be borrowed from other believers, for sure. =]
Crowder used to work at a Baptist Church. I think they are saying here that they are using the "container" of the Requiem Mass to communicate some truth about death and resurrection. If you look at the album, it begins in a church with a liturgical service and then ends in a barn with a southern blue grass jam! As humans, we should celebrate our traditions and backgrounds, but not be bound solely by them. God is certainly present in a wide range of musical expressions, and DCB gets that!

The Catholic mass is blasphemy to a Bible-believing Christian. Is Crowder ignorant of this or is he not a Bible-believing Christian?

@bananymous1 If I wanted to determine whether the Catholic faith is the true church, how would you recommend I do that?

You have to like this video based on Crowder's viking-esque beard alone. But seriously, this is an amazing record! Check it out.
