  • Sex is how babies are born. He skirted the answer, understandably. But he was a bit too triumphant in his own finality.

  • I always dug Brian Keith and the way he died was really sad. He was a good actor and played such a variety of roles.

  • Poor Anissa Jones, poor Brian Keith. I really wish that the girl had been able to live a happier life. RIP.

  • The first "A Very Special Episode..." episode of a television show.

  • the goodest answer of all.

  • Que tiempos, estas series nos daban buenas lecciones, que lindos recuerdos...gracias por recordarnoslas

  • "When they were married, they loved each other so much, that your mother took your father's engorged penis into her vagina, and allowed him to create enough friction to climax and shoot sperm into your mother's uterus, which fertilized her eggs and produced two darling and adorable twins!"

  • I grew up watching this....probibly shows my age!

  • Dnload the audio from this tune at thetunify doht cohm.

  • So that is where they come from. I thought it was much, much more complex.

  • I think uncle Bill is the smartest person in the whole wide world too!!!!

  • It's a shame that a lovely clip like this deteriorated into a slugfest among comments. Nice to just take it as it was filmed and not anything else.

  • buffy commited suicide from an overdose of drugs so sad

    boomcc1

  • why dont they make shows like this anymore?

  • My mom used to watch this all the time!

  • This must be one of the most famous scenes from this series.

  • I saw this in 1970 and almost 40 years later it has the same affect on me. It is one of the most beautifull and tender scenes ever on TV.

  • Happy birthday, Garver and Whitaker.

  • Cissy seemed to turn Uncle Bill on. He was always kissing her.

  • Eine herrliche Serie.Da werden alte Erinnerungen wieder wach.Bin mit dieser Serie aufgewachsen.

    Danke fürs einstellen...

    Thanks . . .

  • @tracyterry You forget the obligatory straight porn ass-to-mouth scene!

  • Pretty good explanation, especially since the show was produced in the 1960s and you couldn't explain sex on TV. Unfortunately, not all babies nowadays are born of two people who love each other. Look at the case of J.C. Duggard who was kidnapped at age 11 in 1991. She was recently found with her two daughters she had with the jerk who kidnapped her. All three were forced to live in tents outside the jerk's house. And the two kids were not born of love, but an act of rape.

  • @Superbatfan Yeah, it sure must've been nice waaaayyyy back in the 1960's, back when there was no such thing as sex on tv and no one got raped--and all God's precious little gifts were "born of two people who love each other"... LOL.

I think some of you people must have slurpy-slush for brain cells.

  • @nauort23 You are a very bitter person. I think your innocence was stolen way too early. When children are young they need a simple answer. At Cissy's age she should already have had the real facts given to her by parents and school. This is a family show made in a much more innocent time. Yes, there is a time for contraception , family planning and population control, but jeez, why are you hostile?????

  • @2degucitas And you are a very judgmental person (christian, I bet). My "innocence", as you refer to it--and which you've made YOUR business--was actually a point of derision among my peers precisely BECAUSE I held on to it for so long. You might want to check the comments I was responding to, rather than blindly charging me with bitterness and hostility. I tire of people who harken back to some fantasy-place that never really existed--but was created by a tv network controlled by censors.

  • @nauort23 No, I'm not a christian. I just remember my own childhood innocence very fondly. I agree children should be told the truth about reproduction, but today's media is less family friendly than it was back then and I miss the morality of the early 60's. There was a more innocent time, and it wasn't fantasy. Adults were more careful about what they exposed their children to. You may think me judgemental, but you do seem very hostile.

  • @2degucitas Your profile says you're an "ex-missionary"... Whose word were you spreading? Buddha's? Mohammed's?

  • @nauort23 Yeah, I'm an "ex" christian. Let's not fight anymore. You already have two people here to argue with,so you don't need to be ganged up on.how should an adult answer a child that age when they ask about babies? You don't think the 50's-60's were all that innocent in reality, but an illusion created by censorship. I've wondered about that myself. I can't tell, I was a naive kid back then. do you think things were just like today only hidden in secret?

  • @2degucitas I said this was fine for kids Buffy's age, but clearly even the producers/writers of the show had a laugh with French's line about the rabbits. I was commenting more on people who are holding on to this into adulthood. While some babies are conceived with love, they're ALL (except Jesus) conceived by the physical act. That's all I meant! And, NO!! Things are NOT the same now! My generation could use a little of Uncle Bill's tact and being "angry with love"!!

  • @nauort23 Yeah, French was just a little too naive....but then, it was for the laughs.

  • I always liked looking at Cissy's reaction during this chat. Here she seems to be thinking "Hmm...I wonder which way he's gonna go on this?" LOL

What a lovely show. Thanks for posting.

  • Some people may not see the value of this video clip, but I do. So very sad that some people can`t imagine how love could have anything to do with how babies are born. Well, like it or not, that is how I came to be. My mother and father did and still do love eachother so much that the love filled up their whole lives, and out of this love I came to be.

  • @chrisman737 Your parents obviously raised you right, and I'll bet love still fills your life and theirs. God Bless!

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr , thank you very much. I owe a lot to my parents. Next year they will be married for fifty years. Yes, love still fills their lives!

  • @chrisman737 That's beautiful, 50 Years is amazing, and yes we all owe a great deal to our parents. If they have a large cake at the celebration, please remember to send me a piece! God Bless!

  • @chrisman737 This is all nice and cute and sweet, and it tactfully fills the gap between the time a child starts asking questions and until he/she develops throbbing genitals and the attendant hormones. Sure, people who love each other making babies is the ideal, but white-knuckling the love story into adulthood to avoid any mention of the physical act of sex is nothing other than a hangup about sex.

  • @nauort23 -- I think you are forgetting something, that sex is at it is best when it is an expression of true love in the context of a commitment, especially when considering that sex can create life itself, and that new life needs loving parents for proper nurturing and growth. And when the boy and the girl enter adolescence, then it is time to talk about the physical act of sex -- AND the responsibilities (and I don't mean just wearing a condom or other pat and silly answers).

  • @chrisman737 I'm forgetting nothing. You just reiterated what I said, but added that education about contraceptives in an overpopulated world is pat and silly. THAT sounds pat and silly to me.

  • @nauort23, it depends what you mean about overpopulated. Overpopulation does not refer to a lot of people. It refers to not enough food to feed all the population. The USA is not overpopulated, but Chad probably is. In general, the world is not overpopulated. That you did not understand my statement about contraception clearly indicates that you have forgotten a lot, which also is underlined by your assertion that I merely reiterated what you said (I did not).

  • @chrisman737 Let me guess... Dinosaurs aren't "real"; God put the fossils there to confuse us, right?

  • It is a very sad day indeed when at least one poster here is convinced that having sex to have children has nothing all to do with love. Someone here has been watching too much porn and spending too little time in real relationships with real people.

  • No, I said the biological act of conception has nothing to do with love, which is true. It has to do with a sperm fertilizing an egg. You seem to see the need to lie about me in order to demonize me, instead of honestly addressing what I've said. What a sad, pathetic little person you are. I'm afraid this will be my last response to you. This would have been the only one if I'd seen this comment first. You see, I don't consort with liars, especially not liars as imbecilic as you.

  • Please give yourself a break and stop compartmentalizing. Believe it or not, some people have sex because they love eachother and they want to start a family. This may come as a shock to you, but it is true. Once again, and I repeat, if my parents did not love eachother, they would not have had sex with eachother, and I would not have been born. I am a product of love (which includes sex), not merely a product of some cold biological act.

  • One of the best TV shows ever!

  • cissy was hot she new where they came from

  • wow. that's where babies come from?

I love my dog very much. maybe we'll have puppies!

  • Why can't they make shows like this anymore? Now all you have in today's shows are dysfunctional families, bratty kids, and fathers that act like dopes.

  • Yes, why can't we have obnoxious, badly acted saccharine trash that lies to children about where babies come from because the show's producers are too conservative to acknowledge that people fuck? We need more of this! Good fucking god, I need to go look at some clips of All in the Family now.

  • Watch what you want. But a tree is known by its fruits. Just look at our world today. Out of control venereal disease, abortion, babies without responsible parents, countless failed marriages..all the product of the sexual revolution. Yes, some things needed to change, but they have now gone way too far. And our culture is now practically bankrupt because of it.

  • Out of control venereal disease and abortion are a product of ineffectual right wing abstinence only sex education that has pervaded over the last couple of decades, which makes people not less likely to have sex, but less likely to have safe sex. Failed marriages are highest amongst conservative christians in this nation. These things have nothing to do with the sexual revolution, they have to do with societal taboos and practices as promoted by conservative christians.

  • "Out of control venereal disease and abortion are a product of ineffectual right wing abstinence..."

No, not really. The primary reason there is so much veneral disease is because lots of people are having unprotected sex. Believe it or not, condom use encourages unsafe sex (what else do you use a condom for, anyway). The only effective programs in Africa have been abstinence programs.

  • I loved this show when it was on.

On this episode I wondered why didn't Cissy tell Buffy and Jody where babies come from - she would know at her age.

  • somebody talked to Jody like a baby his whole life , that kid is fruity

  • Brian Keith really showed his acting skills...he appears so GENIUNE (touching) in this episode...as if these are his very own children...i love it

  • I so agree with you....I always thought Brian Keith was an amazingly gifted actor---especially in the role of Uncle Bill--he was extremely NATURAL....love this show so much...so poignant.

  • My mother enjoyed the show so much, she named me after Brian Keith.

  • now THAT is wonderful!

  • We sure live in a different world now. I remember this show from the late 60's and early 70's. The only one of the cast that made it out in one piece was Cissy. Anissa Jones' story is such a tragedy, and so terribly, terribly sad.

  • I just finished watching FA's last season on DVD. Now I've seen them all. Great, charming, life-affirming show. Simple storylines with grand messages, splendidly acted. Highly recommended. How about some more shows like this on TV today. Could that be possible? I think, yes.

  • such a wonderful show , it is a shame that there are no shows now that even match it in substance or class,i cried when i heard that anissa jones had died of such a massive over dose of drugs , may she find peace in eternal sleep

  • They sure don't make them like they use to..Good wholesome programs..Now days its all crap and sex..It gets old..I quess those days are gone for ever. With todays obsession on junk and crap junk TV now days.

  • this show was so cute i loved it

  • TV in America has been destroyed, before shows were about family, love, doing the right thing, and specially shows like these always had a message at the end, but now We are materialistic, superficial, cheap, and even Vulgar. PBS is the way

  • Its my beliefe that a society disentigrates when they turn their back on their Creator and they become their own gods in their vain imaginations. Such was the case with the Roman Empire and so goes the case for Western civilization. Enjoy these TVshows because I doubt if we will ever see this kind of decent programming again.

  • The Roman Empire fell AFTER it became christianized. It was the ruling power in the world for centuries when it was still pagan. Learn some damned history.

  • The Roman Empre fell for many reasons, including the foolish acceptance of foreigners in the military. But also because of individuals fall from true moral standards. The old Roman Empire which fell was not living by Christian standards. The rampant immorality, loose sexual mores, and the famed vomitoriums -- these all were part of the LAST years of the Roman Empire.

  • It wasn't living by christian standards for centuries, and was the dominating power of the region. You're full of shit, plain and simple. It had nothing to do with becoming christian or falling away from christian values. That was incidental.

  • No mistraker ,you LEARN some damn history. The Roman Empire started to decay from the reiogn of Caesar Nero, and Caligula way before Constantine. It crumbled from decadence and greed. I've studied my history and I don't go running off at the mouth and talking trash. Anyone can go to Barnes and Noble and buy "Thr Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" and see that my statements are true.

  • Which happened before Rome was christianized, further proving that christianity coming and going had nothing to do with the fall of the roman empire, and also proving that you're an idiot.

  • Its pretty brave to talk trash behind the internet and namecall, but it all comes down to the fact that your just a punk and not even worth anyones time. You don't know anything about life and you've been nowhere. I knew that the moment you started throwing insults to make your point. We had a name for people like you when I was in the Marine Corps. lol

  • I like the tough guy routine. Hilariously impotent on youtube, though. Speaking of impotent, I would expect the tough guy act is compensation for your tiny, tiny penis, and your threats instead of arguments compensation for your lackluster IQ score. I find it funny that someone who can't figure out basic cause and effect is trying to say I don't know anything about life. I'm sorry, but you've been dismissed. Probably far from the first time that someone hasn't taken you seriously, though.

  • Tough guy routine? You gotta be kidding. With a sissy boy like you that would be a waste. Dude, what is with all the penis talk? Very strange. I'm beginning to see what you're all about. I won't even waste my time with a loser like you. You need help..

  • Honestly, you should just stop here. You're saying far more about yourself than me when you make these sad little insults. You were trying to suggest I was gay, obviously. I don't really care if you think I'm gay or not, or a "sissy". I don't see it as insulting. People who do this are generally very insecure about their masculinity, and generally have latent homosexual desires. There were studies done, in fact, that showed that homophobes were aroused by gay porn, where non-homophobes were not.

  • Well, maybe you should stop. You are the one who has provided most of the fuel for this fire.

  • How old are you, anyway? You can either acuse people of having a tiny penis or you can actually read the posts and argue intelligently. Didn`t you read my posts? Why can`t you see that maybe the above video clip is NOT beside the point, that maybe, just maybe, love does have something to do with how babies come to be? Have you ever been in love? Are you married? Do you have any children? What is your problem?

  • Yes, I read your posts, where, before anything else happened, you accused me of being obsessed with pornography, having no personal relationships, etc, instead of "responding intelligently", as you say. Instead of attempting to understand my point, you chose to go on a little self-righteous rant, labeling me as some manner of sexual deviant instead of making an argument. Pot, meet kettle. Oh, and to answer your questions, yes, no, two little girls, and hypocrites like you.

  • And it seems like you still do not understand my main point -- that sex and love often do go together, whereas you are very intent on separating them. But it you insist on not seeing that, then that is your problem and your loss.

  • It is very familiar. It was seen in its childhood.

It is the title which "New York father" says in Japan.

    とても懐かしい。子供の頃見た。

    日本では"ニューヨークパパ"っていうタイトルなんだ。

  • Mr. French wanted to know, too! LOL!

  • These clips make me sad & happy at the same time

Nostalgia- blast from the past= tears )mixed)

Thanks for posting, wish I could see and recall full series

    :)

  • yup Uncle bill couldnt have said it any better uncle bill was a true act to follow he had class and was the best

  • Aww that was sweet. Buffy and Jody were so cute! Rest in peace anissa jones

  • Uncle Bill Davis was pure class. plain and simple.

    He was the best.

  • Ahh .. the 60's that special decade before my parents decided to share their love. Good ol Uncle Bill spoken like a true pro. Like Jody said "That's the goodest answer of them all."

  • Uncle Bill: Why 1960's are far away from now? Simple things, easier way of living: time passes by!

  • Never was it said better. Way to go, Uncle Bill.

  • It was said better countless times. Generally when it was the truth, instead of vague, euphemistic nonsense. Love has not a damned thing to do with the creation of children. Sex does.

  • " Love has not a damned thing to do with the creation of children. Sex does."

Well, I don`t know about your story, but with my story, my parents loved eachother. They waited until they got married to have sex. And, for them, sex was an act of love. That is the way it is meant to be. Think higher, my friend. Try to rise above the level of internet porn and think of commitment, self-sacrifice, and true love.

  • And their love had nothing to do with how you were created. The sperm fertilizing the egg did. The rest you posted is emotionalistic appeals, and doesn't address what was said. The point is that he was too much of a conservative pansy to tell his kids the real story about how babies were made because of ridiculous societal taboos.

  • "And their love had nothing to do with how you were created. `"

Oh yes it did. The problem with our modern secular society is that it severely compartmentalizes facets of the human person. If my parents did not love eachother, they would not have had sex with eachother, and they would not have been born.

  • Obviously I meant .."and I would not have been born."
