  • Everyone needs to see this video.

  • Than you so much for sharing your story Patricia.

I really admire you're courage to speak about this terrible experience.

  • And now please consider the fact that the junk science HIV "argument" they use to day is EXACTLY as valid as the masturbation "argument", and that it comes from the exact same place and mindset.

  • @Pastor9764 The masturbation argument is actually more logical and honest than the HIV one.

  • @PushEastward "jewish masters"? Really?

Actually the push for cutting and harming the genitals of American children, boys and girls, began many decades before by anti-sexual puritans like quack-doctor John Harvey Kellogg. For an excellent overview of circumcision in the US and how the Jews have influenced this read Jewish American scholar Leonard Glick's, "Marked in Your Flesh: Circumcision From Ancient Judea to Modern America."

  • I feel the same way as the writer about this issue. I have been circumcised and I am going to approach my mother and father about it. I will only ask, "Why did you choose this for me and submit me to what amounts to physical scarring and psychological torture?"

  • heart breaking what mankind has done :(

may this evil come to an end in our lifetime!

  • Why were baby girls' clitorises removed? Was it also to prevent masturbation as male circumcision originally was?

  • @someguy672 When an adult attacks the genitals of a child with a scalpel or other damaging instrument the intent is always the same, to diminish the sexual pleasure of the recipient. Most commonly this is done by adults who were similarly treated as children. The psycho-sexual motivation runs very deeply, many excuses (medical and religious) are used to cover it.

  • @someguy672 @someguy672 to answer your question, yes. Both male and female genital mutilation was originally started to repress the sexuality of the child. It was know back then, that those areas removed were highly erogenous to the touch/rub, and the Victorian attitudes of the day just could not permit THAT.

The "medical" and "health" reasons came later after it was no longer recognized as ethical to alter the body of a child without real reasons so they "made up" one reason after another...

  • Get back to work

  • female and male genital mutilation for religious and/or cultural reasons is absurd and barbaric. no one has the right to remove or modify the genitals of another human being. simple logical thinking will lead anyone to the same conclusion about genital mutilation that i have reached myself. we are born and made the way we are for a good reason.

  • I had no idea that this was done in an American, Christian context (I'm assuming this woman's parents are not muslim)

  • @sarahyellow Countless numbers of American girls have been genitally mutilated since era of John Harvey Kellogg. One "doctor" at the University of Chicago Hospital had to be disciplined for his enthusiasm for genital surgeries on little girls. An American medical supply company manufactured the special clamp. The abuse was not uncommon.

Robinette's parents were not Muslim. Do read her book for more insight into this little known area of American medical fraud.

  • i know what to do, make it all illegal completely and lock up parents that do it after its made illegal, very simply and effective. if we would be better of without the parts, then we would be born without it, people are total morons

  • wow My God .. I saw this headline today at the abc news: Female Genital Cutting: Affecting Young Girls in America" . I'm in shock , in America?

why? why? they are doing it? why???? it's horrible!

Thank you sharing, I must read her book!

  • I cannot help but wonder if my own girlfriend(born in 1947) may be one of the victims of this. She certainly displays the psychological symptoms. I have tried many times to find her clitoris all for naught. When I asked her about it, she pointed out the right spot, but all I could see was that the inner labia joined there with no protruding structure as I would expect. Worse, she does not even want to discuss the issue.

  • sorry. this is crap. i was cut as a baby and i am fine. if you can do nothing but spew hate at religious people go get a life..

  • @RoyalRanger136 It is not "crap" to stand up for the human rights of a child to their whole human body. Where do you see evidence of anyone "spewing hate at religious people" here? That's a straw man argument to continue genital mutilation of children, especially when some very conscientious Jewish and Muslim scholars have studied this in depth and are speaking out against it.

  • @RoyalRanger136 denial.

  • @RoyalRanger136

Your overreaction and attack proves the point of the video. One of the characteristics of PTSD and people who could not escape their trauma is hypervigilance and to overreact. It doesn't matter if the conscious mind remembers trauma. The body always remembers trauma. Trauma causes a distinct and negative change to the brain, and people have all kinds of reactions they don't understand because the body still remembers.

  • @RoyalRanger136 your trauma and anger shows in this comment.

  • @RoyalRanger136

Jews oppose circ bris shalom requires no cutting. Quaranic path aka muslims against circ. jewsagainstcircumcision . org also you're in denial cause the trauma of circumcision has a deep traumatic psychological impact causing denial, depression, etc: please read: cirp . org / library / psych / goldman1 /

  • @RoyalRanger136 You have been sexually diminished. You will never be able to feel pleasure like you would have if you were not cut...not fine.

  • Thank you for sharing your tragic and powerful story. I look forward to the day when all children enjoy legal protection from those who to seek to inflict pain and harm on them for financial gain, ideology or darker sexual / anti-sexual motivations.

  • Love your easy to read book on a hard to piece together subject.

Thanks for sharing your "circumcision" insights and the comparison to male circumcision. Much of your book mirrored my own discovery, anger/hate and healing.

  • awsome

  • She chalks up all the unhealthy parts of male sexuality to circumcision? I doubt it...perhaps there's more of a social explanation?

I'm disgusted by those pictures. How can a person cut into a screaming infant like that?! SICK FUCKS.

  • @Ashybasha You aren't alone.

  • What was the justification for FGM in the US?

  • @thruthem

Several papers were published in American medical journals between 1880 and 1960 claiming that female circumcision would cure all kinds of problems, from irritation, smegma, masturbation, etc. Many female circumcisions were performed in the mid-west during that time. It was covered under Blue Cross Insurance until 1977, and legal until 1996.

    Check out this video:

  • @thruthem - free..5peech explained well the 'medical' excuses, but also there was the "DON'T TOUCH YOURSELF!" school & the "be pretty down there" school.

Shryock (also a 7th day adventist, like J.Harvey Kellogg) wrote "Becoming a woman" in which he advises girls who masturbate to find a doctor who will perform surgery... that was 1954-ish. they still do it today, as 'cosmetic surgery' so you can be as beautiful as a porn star.

medicine as business will justify just about anything...

  • Ms. Robinett offers xcellent insight into how cultural fears about sexuality are accommodated and imposed on children of both sexes, either in the absence of the medical community or, shamefully, with the help of doctors and nurses. Doctors cannot claim the moral highground in opposing female circumcision while simultaneously permitting the genital cutting of unconsenting male newborns.

  • Intact genitals feel REALLY good. Informed adults can decide for themselves.

  • I'm all too familiar with the trauma that she describes.

  • Great interview! Thanks Bonobo! Would you happen to know what year (or decade) Patricia was born, and where she was born and/or grew up? A lot of female circumcisions were performed in Illinois and Wisconsin in the first half of the last century.

  • @freedom0f5peech According to her website at Patricia Robinette com she was raised in Kansa in the '50s.
